They often do not answer their phone in a timely matter or leave it off the hook. Good service when we finally do get appointment. The annoyance of several times not being able to contact them during regular hours is detrimental to their business. We do like our particular stylist otherwise we'd definitely go elsewhere. To be clear, this has happened on three different occasions so it is not a one off. read more

I've been coming to Gentleman Joe's for YEARS, for a reason. It's simply the best place to come for haircuts. These guys are the best of the best. Which is why it's SO BUSY. Be prepared to wait, cuz they take their time to get each and every haircut perfect. I've sometimes had to sit for an hour. But, WHY would I go somewhere else? To get a crappy haircut?!? If you value your time find somewhere else for better service. To start this was not my first time time at this location. Took my kid in for a hair cut, I was well aware about the wait. We hung out outside once we signed in. 1 hour later I see the sign in list and we were next. Problem was being next doesn't mean anything to these barbers. Kept taking in new comers with appointments. If that's the trick to getting a hair cut why not post a sign at the door saying appointments only. The rest of us walk ins waiting hours while new comers had a barber seat waiting for them. Ended up walking out after one barber acknowledged my frustration while checking the list again and said 'sorry bro we have appointments' Save yourself the time, skill level isn't that great to wait around for hours anyway. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would! This is my second time to go to this location and not get a haircut!! I put my name down on the list and two people that came after me get called up?!?! I was never welcomed in or even said hi to. Worst customer service I have ever seen. When I went in, there were 5 barbers cutting hair. I have never had an issue waiting with this place so I can't complain about that. This is my third time getting a cut here. The first two times I was pretty happy with my cut, but this previous time I'm not satisfied. I very well explained the cut I was wanting including pictures for reference. Too much was taken off the top, the fade was much higher than I wanted and the back of my head wasn't blended well so no it looks like I have a bump on the back of my head. They couldn't even get my sideburns to be of even length. The barbers have always been nice so I'm not complaining there, but I don't think I'll ever come back. The cut I received just felt like a very sloppy job. I don't know why I would pay more to come here when I would get the same quality at great clips. read more

Gentleman Joe's is a great barbershop with many skilled barbers. My introduction to it occurred when my regular barber, Mike, move to this location. The men in this shop know what they are doing with their tools of the trade. They wield their shears with skill and every head leaves looking much better than it arrived. TLDR - this place is a churn & burn dump. Barely a cut above a Great Clips -- save your money & time. Firstly, this place's service leaves a lot to be desired. Most of the barbers working here seem like they simply can't be bothered & it definitely shows in their work. From the moment you walk, you're going to be met with maaaaybe a quick glance - there's no introduction or even a quick 'Hey'. Next, you're going to spend the next 20-30 minutes waiting for anybody to even acknowledge your existence. Once you're finally seated in a chair - an immediate red flag is just how unkempt the whole place is. Next, the whole reason you're here, the haircut - if you came here for any thing besides a crew cut, well -- shit, you came to the wrong place. I asked for a more contemporary cut and showed the barber a picture of exactly the look I wanted. Nothing too fancy, but something completely manageable (especially at a $32 asking price for a 'precision cut'). What I got instead was a 90s inspired frosted tips monstrosity. Worse yet, I have MY WEDDING in 2 weeks - to say I'm livid is an understatement. There's zero communication after my barber took a 5 sec look at the photo I showed him & I had to remove my glasses so I was unable to see the hack job. The barber had the gall to say I needed more product in order to get the 'look'. To make it even more infuriating - this is not the first time I've asked for this look here, I've had this same haircut done 2 f*#$ing years ago with amazing results. Thinking back, I've never been so emotional (basically the whole 7 stages of grief deal) after a haircut before, but it was a truly horrifying experience. To make matters worse, I came back a day later after cooling off seeking a refund. The 'gentlemen' at the register today could not have been more dismissive/unhelpful. He stated that he could not help because there was no manager on the premises - like whuuut? Not only did it seem like a badly crafted lie, but if so - they just admitted directly to violating an Arizona's Board of Barbers statute soooo good going there! read more

No matter which shop you hit the haircuts are always on point, you walk out feeling fresh and clean.

Apologies for not remembering the Gentleman's name, but I was very happy with my beard and mustache trim. They use a straight edge razor and really pay attention to detail which is very much appreciated. The wait was a little long, but you can call in for reservations which I would advise and will do next time. read more

I used to love going to Gentlemen Joe's and frequented multiple locations; from downtown Phoenix to Mesa. After trusting them for about 8 years I have decided to move on and find another barber. The best, most reliable barbers seem to go elsewhere after awhile and thus the quality of cut has been declining for some time now. In addition, the price has been rising just as the quality has started to fall. The cherry on top was my most recent [attempted] visit when I made sure to call ahead to check that I would be able to get in (as a walk-in) before they closed. This place beats the heck out of.... well anywhere! The interior is dark wood and there is also a hint of cigars in the air ( from the tobacco shop next door). Beard trims, shoe shines and straight razor shaves are offered here as well. I took my 13 year old son here to get a real haircut. He had a great time. I think he earned about 20 man points on his man card. The barbers are great and did exactly what he wanted. This place is located right behind Bass Pro Shops. Come here and get your cut and then go to Bass to get your fill of all things man! In the immortal words of Tim Allen OH OH OH OH OH! Only Negative is the hours of business. They close by 6 or 7 pm depending on the day, and closed on Sunday. read more

Than I heard about Gentleman Joe's from Yelp, first off I'll like to said the haircut results were phenomenal, price was decent at a $39 fee(that's haircut and shave) without tip. Be prepared to wait though, It was a 40-45 minute wait on a Saturday afternoon, first timers are to know that you must sign at the desk before you're service, it goes by pretty quit because you got nearby TVs to entertain you. Heard a lot of good reviews so I decided to come in and get my haircut here. When I got here, I liked the overall atmosphere, but my haircut is one of the worst haircuts I've ever gotten. My hair is really uneven and just looks horrible overall. Went to a great clips the other day and even the barber agreed that the haircut was bad, but they fixed it and it looks great again. This place is worth the drive for my two boys. I recommend an appointment and you may need to wait a bit even with an appt but it's 100% worth it. The price is great and the results are excellent and always consistent. We love Isaac but other barbers do a great job too. First off great haircut, comes with a neck shave and a brief massage. Other positives are having plenty of barbers on hand and tv's right n front for those not wanting to socialize. Can't argue with that for 18 bucks. They were busy so understandably there was hair on the floor which i thought could have been cleaner. I was a regular at Gentlemen Joes for the great cuts but after the way I was treated I won't be going back. I don't know who handles the appointments there and I don't really know if they just make it up as they go since it's not listed anywhere but what I do know is that they need to work on their communication skills because when someone "like my self" allows 4 people to go ahead of them so that one barber "Sergio the Manager" can cut their hair that barber should have the common curtesy of letting that person know they have an appointment so that they don't waste hours of their time, like everyone else my times very important to me and for him not to say anything even when he knew I was waiting for him is very disappointing.
