A good, consistent haircut is key, and I am never, ever disappointed whenever I walk out of this shop. Mike is not only an excellent barber, but also great conversation. Jonathan is also solid with fades. Appointments are prompt and wait times are short, typically. While you're waiting, fire up the Capcom X-Men arcade cabinet to play a few rounds of Children of the Atom or Vs. Street Fighter until your barber is ready - or just chill and watch whatever streaming movie is playing on TV. Parking is available but limited behind the shop; otherwise, find a meter or curbside spot nearby. Quite possibly the best barber's and barbershop in the Westside! I've been going to Steve for over a year now and the man is a god when it comes to hair! I don't have much haha, so before I found Steven I was looking for a place that used a straight razor to head shave. Steve does it, and he does it SO WELL. Gentle, precise, and makes sure he gets every nook and cranny on top of my dome. Always on point with the beard trim too. Lines are perfect, always makes sure that what he's doing is what you want whether you talk to him about it or show him a picture. He'll get it right 100% of the time. Barbershop is dope too. However, I've recently needed beard trims and hair line maintenance several times on short notice and each time, I reached out and made online appointments with Chris - a barber of a few words who lets his clippers do all the speaking. Chris is simply an excellent barber who is truly skilled! In addition, it is also important to note that Gentlemen's Barber Shop is as clean as it is calm and relaxing. Although I've never had to wait more than five minutes for my scheduled appointment, I can't imagine I would mind hanging out on one of the sofas watching a sports game while waiting. Came here on a friend's recommendation and was not disappointed. I'm all about efficiency and would like as long of a time between cuts as possible, so I always opt for a skin fade. After having Lexx give me the cleanest skin fade ever, I'm not sure I can go to any other place! You can easily tell Lexx takes pride in her craft and works on your hair with great detail - not a strand out is out of place. I would highly recommend! With everything going on right now, I know it can be a bit nerve-wracking to go to a barber shop, but Gentlemen's does a good job to ease concerns. Gentlemen's Barber Shop has become my go-to for any haircut and styling I will ever need, and it's pretty much all because of my homegirl Lexx! First off, the barber and the haircut. I've been going to Lexx for over 2.5 years now, have had numerous haircuts with her, and she has never failed to give me the exact cut I want. She knows how to work with whatever details I give her for what kind of fade or undercut I want, what I want the length of my longer hair to be, and her attention to detail and cleanliness is matched by almost no one I've ever had my hair styled from. Her meticulous cleanliness, both for my hair, as well as overall sanitation of herself, her tools, and her haircutting area, helped me feel safe, comfortable, and helped ease my concerns in a time like now (covid19 pandemic). Whenever I get my hair cut and styled by Lexx, I always end up exiting the barbershop looking amazing and feeling even better! Important note: Lexx is also really great with being flexible in terms of scheduling, and you can usually book an appointment with her most days of the week and even weekends! I've personally had a hard time finding someone who will make time to accommodate my weird schedule and the weird times I can find to get my haircut, and Lexx is always there for me. Lexx is amazing at something fairly rare for any barber to do that I've met and asked to try, and that's line designs in your hair. She absolutely *kills it* in line designs. If you can describe the design to her, she's usually able to pull it off, and if you have pictures of the line designs you want, she'll definitely nail it. I've even asked her to combine some line designs before based on pictures, and she was able to do it exactly how I wanted. She'll even go to great lengths to clean up the lines and detail them with a razer blade, just to make sure your lines are crisp, clean, and looking fresh. Her line designs never fail to catch the attention of anyone I see after I get her to style me up, and I've had numerous people ask where they can get some clean line work done in their hair, and I can only ever recommend the homegirl Lexx for that. Now, for the actual barbershop itself. You enter in from the street, going up a set of stairs to get to the actual shop itself. They offer hand sanitizer at the top of the stairs right at the front. The barbershop is both well-lit and extremely clean. From the floor, to the chairs, the barber areas/mirrors, and even the hair-washing sinks/stations and loungers are essentially spotless, which was really a relief considering the current pandemic and how most barbershops and hair salons are. Plenty of parking for the shop can be found in the residential streets behind it. There's free parking up to 1hr, except for certain times on Thursdays for street cleaning (so plan accordingly). This place is amazing for getting your hair cut and styled, and if you're looking for your next go-to barber, definitely the best person to get your hair cut by is Lexx! Even if I live all the way in the border of LA and the OC, I'll make my way out here solely because of how great Lexx is at styling hair, and how clean this barbershop is.
