Which is the only good thing about having thinner hair --cuts are quick. Last week I walked into Blind Barber and they improved my whole viewpoint, not just my hairstyle. It wasn't the decor, easy app-based tab, or even the speakeasy bar in back (yes, it's true - a drink is included). It was the barber. And not the skills exactly, but how comfortable they made me. It felt like us against the hair. Like, okay, what are we going for here with this haircut? Not the usual "what buzzer number are you, thank you, next." That made all the difference to me. I'll go back, I'll order quality products, I'll start a barber + beer tab. Finally, a haircut appointment I look forward to. You should go!

I'd been getting the same high fade for a decade and wanted to try the longer wave thing everyone's doing. The first barber I asked for it butchered it, mostly because he'd never done a long cut in his life. Gianni took one look, diagnosed what was actually going on up there, and got me to a halfway cut. A couple months later, the cut grew in as he planned and he took me from 80 to 100%, right in time for my vow renewal. His profile calls him the brushback king and I couldn't agree more. Fair warning: he's meticulous, so plan on real time in the chair. You get what you pay for! Also book ahead. At least a month, in my experience. Gianni's popular and I've never once seen anyone get off the waitlist. The shop itself is worth the trip on its own. Great furniture, plants everywhere, and a back patio you can sit on if you're early or just want to hang. Vibes and the place is always clean. Their systems are top notch too. Plenty of notice before your appointment, everything organized, they offer you a drink when you sit down, and they use good products from the wash through the styling. The host is always so nice, everyone there is personable, and the music's great. One heads up: no parking lot. Street parking can be iffy if you catch a bad day, but there's usually at least one spot within a block. Go see Gianni!

And completely ruined my hair. And he also gave me a fade the is absolutely horrible and completely obviously different than each side of my head. And all of my dreads near the hairline are half the width they once were and he seemed to have deliberately given me the worst haircut he could have done most likely is on purpose why I don't know. I can't imagine what h must have been doing or if hes even thinking. Possibly drunk it seems. And I couldn't see it in the mirror at the time. And I had already paid him in advance. So when I went home and saw the horrific way he butchered and completely ruined my hair I went back to ask for my money back. The owner was there during my haircut and was there cutting hair when I went back. I asked him if he was the owner I showed him my ruined and completely evil haircut the man gave me and told him I want my money back. Owners first response to me was that they usually charge fifty and I only had to pay thirty. Not mentioning my $10;tip. And instead of giving me back my money he tried to insist income back later and have him fix it instead. I will never ever go back to have anyone there touch my hair after humiliating me and I'm a woman like that in a place full of men. And I have never asked for a discount on the price. He treated me as though I was done a favor by getting the cruel and disrespectful haircut that destroyed my hair and my image. And then to offer to fix it instead of giving me back my money and tell me to come back later after the way they did me and make it seem like I ripped them off is unbelievable. I haven't been back for my money yet. I have to wear headbands and bandana now to cover my embarrassing ruined hair that took me 20+ years to grow. I couldn't even get myself to go for the job interview I had that day because of how much he had humiliated me and I don't even want to live near there anymore and have to see those people that have treated me so badly. I don't recommend anyone else ever go there. I have my dignity and can't go get my money because of the way I was treated there by myself. All I want is to hide inside of the house and cry. Especially after two of my locks that were once thick and beautiful of 20 years growing have fallen off. He did it on purpose. Or the people who work there are either high or drunk. Or like to take advantage of my being by myself and a woman and the owner should have apologized and given me my money. Shame on the barber that did this to me and even more shame on the owner and his bad business. I doubt that the man who cut my hair even has a license to cut hair. Terrible people and the absolute worst barbershop. True men? True bullies.

Afterwards I went in for quick shampoo and conditioner which targeted my dandruff. While the location is somewhat out of the way for me, I can definitely rely on their dedication and handiwork.

I found this shop randomly from a google search. I Was looking for a barbershop not too far from the ucla campus and Culver City, that could do a clean tapper fade. Jesus welcomed me in and told me to point at the cut I wanted on the chart and I he would make my hair look like the picture. And he has never failed me. He's always on time, and never was in a bad mood which is important when somebodies altering your appearance. It's a clean shop, with a TV and a fan (standard). There's plenty of free parking, so no running for the meters in a smock. I'm use to frequenting my favorite local Black owned Barbershop in the Bay Area with haircuts $17 bucks a pop. But, This shop made me feel like I was at home, when I was new to the area. Now that I'm out of the area, when I do make my way down to LA I make sure to make an appointment to visit Jesus.
