A little over 2 weeks ago we hired this company to come out and figure out what was going on with our pool system, as we were not getting circulation. They sent out a guy who was very knowledgeable, professional, and a great and friendly attitude. He was able to repair things that needed done, did it in a timely manner, and provided quality work. Unfortunately, the problem was misdiagnosed and was discovered just recently after my family and I were out of town for the last two weeks. I called them back up asking if they can look at it again since it didnt get fixed the first time, and thats when they wanted to charge me again for a visit unless the things he fixed previously didnt work. I explained to them everything he fixed is working great, and they did a great job, but I think the problem was just misdiagnosed and something else must be wrong. I told them I dont agree with them charging us $75 to look at something that should have been caught initially, and the very nice person on my phone deferred to the boss, Tab. Now here is where the customer service goes south. I explained to Tab that I think the causation of the problem was misdiagnosed, and that I would like them to take a second look at it, but didnt feel the $75 charge was warranted because this is the same problem they came out to fix the first time, but missed something. Tab asked why I havent reported it during the last two weeks. Legitimate question, and I let him know because we were out of town and unaware the problem occured. His response was an indirect implication that I was lying to him by saying, "Oh of course you were. If I had a dollar every time a customer told me that in my 20 years of doing this." Really? That's how you treat a customer who just spent $900 two weeks ago and is willing to pay for another repair? Did he want me to show him my travel documents to prove it or something? I would have shown him our travel documents for Houston, Texas and camping in northern Arizona just to prove it to him and knock him off his pedestal of arrogance if he asked. So their technican Madison (sorry if I spelled the name wrong!) came back out and found the problem he overlooked the first time. He fixed it, we paid for the repair and that was that. Very friendly guy and knows how to be professional. If only Tab in his "20 years" only knew how to treat customers with respect they would have a 5 star review. He should learn from Madison and the person who answers the phone. All in all, the technician they sent out was fantastic, the person on the phone I spoke with was fantastic, but the treatment from the owner to his customer was pretty bad. Not worth using them again when I could find a company who treats their paying customers with respect. read more

In the process of selling a house, I called Pool It Together who built my pool. Gentry pool repair was chosen to do the warranty repair. They came out twice because our filter less than 3 months old was leaking, and it took gentry to come out twice to repair the leak. I spoke to the owner a women, and asked for a written report of the work completed. I needed to show proof that the inspection reported has been fixed. The owner a women, stated that she would not provide a letter, but would provide an email. almost a week goes by and nothing. I called and panicked because we could not close on house without proof of this being corrected. I called and left a message of going to the ROC. The owner called me today (Twice). The owner was very rude, and stated she sent the email and very adamant. She asked to check my spam, very condescending. I asked to repeat the email, and she had the wrong email. She then proceeded to tell me I owe her an apology! She made light of me not being able to close without this email. I told her, she might think its funny, but I am not laughing. She then screamed at me, "I don't have to provide you with anything. You threatened my Business!" She then screamed, "FUCK YOU!" and hung up. This is a business owner, and she is an absolute disgrace to the pool industry!! read more

Last year we called because our Hot Springs spa was not heating. Bob came out and rebuilt the motherboard using better components than new. The price was less than buying a new motherboard. The spa has run well but this year developed leaks. We could have had them chisel out the old hard foam and repair the leaks but decided to replace it with a new spa from Gentry. The team removed our old spa and installed our new spa quickly and at the promised time. These folks are polite, efficient, and friendly. We highly recommended them. read more

This company was referred to me by my real estate agent when I bought my new house. I have now had to use them on two occasions. They are prompt, courteous, communicate well, and just plain nice! Regarding the charges for the work I had done. In each instance they came in, gave me a quote (parts and labor) and the end result was the exact amount of the quote. I also looked up the parts I was getting on the internet, and they charged virtually the same amount as the cheapest I could find online. So their parts markup is very fair. Over the summer we purchased a home with a built in pool and spa. The whole system is controlled by a Hayward computer and app, which was completely foreign to me. After battling with every aspect, I was put in touch with Gentry. Bob came over at my convenience and walked me through every program on the computer and app, and was very patient as he showed me how to work everything. We (meaning he...as I stood there) noticed there was a broken pump for the spa, which was part of the problem, and he quickly scheduled and completed the repairs. He's been available for emergency advice when the unexpected has occurred, and I can't imagine a company providing better customer service than what I've received. When you're new to an area and have to find reliable contacts for everything - cooling/heating, water, audio/visual, landscaping, pool, etc....it's refreshing to find a company like Gentry that you can trust. In the process of selling a house, I called Gentry pool repair for an estimate for repairs on our pool during the inspection period. They did NOT tell me in advance that they charge $100 to come out and give an estimate. Once I received the estimate for repairs I called to ask some questions when the gentlemen proceeded to try to collect the $100 from me to adjust the estimate. I made it very clear that no one had notified me in advance of this charge and that their mistake was not my problem. He refused to update the quote with the changes I requested and proceeded to tell me how important he is and how big his business has become over the years. He obviously did not need or what my business so I'm moving on to another company. I suggest you do too. read more

After doing such a great job on my spa, I asked Gentry to help with my pool. I had a feeling it needed a new pump, but they tried to find other causes for the low suction that would be less expensive. Turned out I did need a new pump. Their price was $500 less than other quotes, and was a better pump to boot. Bob also changed the filters, put in a new GFI outlet and secured some other lose electrical attachments. After researching pool repair companies on the Haywood website I called Gentry for a situation with my cartridge filter. Vicki was very helpful, friendly and considerate , she scheduled Bob to come out the next day. Unlike many companies I have come across, Bob contacted me the next morning and come over. Wow customer service re invented. I have nothing but good things to say about these guys. I called Gentry pool repair in a panic. I have family in town from out of state and I've been bragging about my pool all year and telling them they need to come down for new years. So there we were with 15 family members wanting to escape the snow and swim in AZ and the pool heater gave out. I had heard about Gentry Pool repair from a friend who had nothing but great things to say so I gave them a call. They had already been booked for the day but when I explained my situation they moved appointments around to accommodate me and had my heater up and running within an hour. INCREDIBLE. And now, the so called repair they performed on my pentair light has to be redone this week. So the quality of work is also horrible. This is a review for service 3 years ago. I called Pentair for service on my 2HP motor/pump. They said Gentry was a listed service company. Gentry came out and fixed the problem very fast. GREAT. Now the problem. He said he (by law) had to put in a variable speed motor (not entire pump needed to be repaired). Gave me quote for a variable and a 2 speed motor. To save me money, he installed a 2 speed US Motor pump, not even a Pentair (why? money?). I paid $800 One problem with a 2 speed. I have a salt-pool. At low speed, it doesn't generate chlorine. So I must run the pool on high the entire time. So.... I didn't save any money and it cost me more in electricity. A variable speed would have been better. He should know that the motor's low speed does not WORK on Salt generator. Now, the motor has failed. The seals were bad and motor took in water. I went to Leslie and hey are putting in a 3HP variable speed for $125 more than what I spent 3 years ago and with a 5 year warrantee. Now I will get the efficiency I should have had 3 years ago. 3HP is overkill, but that is all they have, but I can program it to whatever I need. My problem is that Pentair recommended Gentry and he doesn't even use their product. Talks me into this 2 speed by saying that I can us it on low most of the time and save money. WRONG !!!. Unless you install, use manufacturer's product. Gentry just called me (within 1 hour of my post) to advise that they are under new ownership as of 2015. And to be fair to Gentry, the price I received from Leslie on a new VS Intelliflo pump, was a special. I had to do it on 5/31, otherwise the price was going to be over $1400. I was lucky in my timing. I am grateful for their concern and quick response to my post. When I need service, maybe I will give them another chance. Follow up is very important and the new owner was on top of the issue immediately. read more
