I'm a fan of this doctor. Came in for knee and shoulder issues. He was able to help with both while many jerk doctors will only help with one thing at a time even if it's a two minute problem. Clean office, good receptionist, good demeanor of everyone involved. Doctor also recommended PRP which I took him up on immediately. Not sure why no one else have ever offered to me. Wasn't cheap but if it works, it was easily worth it. read more

Well! I would recommend Dr. Ackerman to anyone. I broke my ankle in 3 places in 2017 and I had to have 7 screws placed in my ankle. He was referred to me by Long Island Jewish Hospital Franklin. My main issues are the rain and the cold, but my scarring is so minimal that you can't even tell I had surgery there. He did an awesome job. Then disaster struck again in April 2019 and I ended up tearing 3 out of 4 ligaments in my right knee. Well I didn't hesitate to go to Dr. Ackerman. I had to do 2 knee surgeries in the space of 3 months for the MCL, ACL, PCL and meniscus. I was devastated. But he assured me that it needed to be done and the reasons why. I also like that I go to his office in Valley Stream and I don't go there and sit for hours. If my appointment is at 11, I'm not seeing him at 12 and that's a great thing!! I won't do pics bc they looked pretty horrid at first, but now the scars have healed so well and I'm happy. Thanks Dr. Ackerman!! read more

Dr seemed good but office staff was supposed to call me no later than 2 weeks about gel shots for my knee. Not only did they not call, I called and left a message with no return call. Today is 3 weeks since my visit, no call and still have knee pain. Time for me to call orthopedic number 3 for this problem. read more

This office seems desperate for money. My daughter injured her 5th digit, her pinky toe. As a nurse, I treated it as if it was a broken toe. A friend, who is an orthopedic PA recommended I go to Dr. Ackerman to see if the joint was affected. As a single mom, I did not have the $50 to spend, especially since I was treating her the same as I had treated patients in the ER for 20 years. I was told they would take my insurance, but not charge a co pay. I already had xrays taken but Dr. Ackerman asked me to retake the xray in his office. He said he would not charge me a copay, just the insurance. The joint was not affected and Dr. Ackerman said I was doing a great job treating her, to keep doing what i was doing. No treatment was provided by Dr. Ackerman. I saw the individual at the desk before I left, I asked if I owed anything and was told I did not. A few months later I began receiving bills, I called, I personally went to the office. I told them the father was responsible for all the medical bills, I gave them his information; the insurance is in his name and he is responsible for the bills. They never called him.I have been hounded by them, I have been told Dr. Ackerman never said he would not charge a co pay, even though I was told I owed nothing when I left. If this is how they make money, by lying to people and then billing them, that is very sad. Only a doctor can decide to bill you months later. Now they have a collection company calling me, I always pay my bils. This doctor is going to ruin my credit over misinformation, he did receive payment from the insurance company for looking at an xray and nothing more. It is important for a doctor and his staff to be honest in all aspects of his business, otherwise, how can one be trusted.A doctor should also not be this desperate for money. read more
