We have only used George's once, and it was a very positive experience. A couple of years ago, my wife inherited her mom's 2000 Buick. She kept it - it had low mileage and ran pretty well, was convenient since we don't live in R.I. but come up several weeks in summer, and had sentimental value. But recently it needed significant brake work (done at another garage, that said "we can keep it running"). We were concerned about additional major expenses, and also about safety. George was recommended, so we took it to him asking about potential repair needs and safety. He spent the afternoon going through it, finding two major issues that represented both large upcoming expenses and immediate safety concerns. He was clear, technically savvy, and straightforward - no flim-flam, no proposed work for him. So there was no potential gain for him, just responding to our needs. My car started bucking and threatening to stall at 6:00 on a Friday afternoon near the beach in Narragansett, and I was scheduled to drive home six hours Monday morning first thing. Two other places had already closed and I was beginning to despair but then I saw the phone number for George's Auto Repair on the front of a gas station in Wakefield. When I called, the owner said he was closed but when I explained my predicament, he said he would meet me at the repair shop in 45 minutes to "take a look". It turned out he had come in off a boat because "business comes first". Before doing anything, he showed me where the sparks were flying and showed me the crack in the coil box. Not only did he check to see if he could get the parts but when he found the parts were available, he fixed the car on a FRIDAY EVENING!! The car was ready at 10 p.m. that same night. I've checked the prices, and the price for both parts and labor were excellent. I cannot recommend this station enough. They are friendly, flexible, and have excellent expertise. read more

Absolutely the best place I've been to by far! Moved here from out of state, wasn't sure where to go. I tried a few places, but the service was awful or it was very over priced. George has been a life saver for me and my family. He's always ready with a smile. I stopped by there today to see if he could look at my van. Not only did he make time to come out and take a look, but I was also pleasantly surprised that he remembered me! Sometimes its the little things in life that make it wonderful. Attention URI parents, this week my daughter who is a junior at URI headed out to school with her newly purchased 2009 outback, from Connecticut. With our luck the check engine light came on before she even hit the boarder. I stumbled on George's Auto online and call George the owner explaining the situation. "Have her bring the car in, I'll check it out, don't worry" Well he is a man of his word, he not only quickly and very reasonably repaired the car, but made sure my daughter was treated like his own. By the way he has a daughter who's a senior at URI. When I was talking with George on the phone, he explained the trouble and laid out all the possible fixes, from the bear minimum, to the let's just do it. No push or pressure, just honest options. George is wonderful. Driving my family home from a weekend trip to the Rhode Island beaches and the car over heats. We contact AAA for a tow but they can't recommend a mechanic open on Sunday and suggest we wait until morning. We find out about George's Auto repair and when we call George he tells us he lives nearby and will meet us at the shop. The tow truck driver knows of George's reputation and makes it clear I had made the right choice. In just over an hour we are back on the road and singing George's praise the whole way. He is professional, knowledgable and unbelievably accessible. We get home to a call from George "just to be sure you got home safe." Who even does this? George does. I was unable to get to the place in North Kingstown where I usually take my car, so I decided to try George after reading all the great reviews. George did not disappoint. He was so kind and offered to give me a ride home as well as pick me up when the car was ready. I was really impressed by his thoughtfulness and expertise. My check engine light had been on intermittently, and he diagnosed and repaired the problem quickly, so I had him replace the front brakes the same day. Since then I have returned for another check engine light issue, which George repaired in only one hour! He is reasonably priced, and I am unaccustomed to such great service! FAST EFFICIENT HELP WITH OIL LEAK! This was my first time using George's Auto Repair in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. I knew I had an oil leak but didn't know why. George quickly found that it was related to the oil pan on my 2011 Subaru Forester. Not only was the gasket seal falling apart but the oil pan had quite a bit of rust so it was just a slow leak. Luckily, he was able to get a new oil pan and gasket early in the day, change the oil and my car was ready that afternoon. Excellent service and he even showed me the damaged oil pan. Okay, just like another poster wrote, my battery died and I drove to George's Auto Repair to get a replacement battery. And just as that other poster stated, my new battery was installed in a matter of minutes, with no waiting around for me. What was even more impressive and appreciated is that "Matt", the mechanic on duty, was working alone today, covering for others on vacation. It is July, after all. Nonetheless, he took care of my problem immediately and the work cost less than the posted sale price of a new battery at a local auto parts store. I was at the end of my stay in RI when my F-150 truck suddenly wouldn't start on the day before I had to haul my boat and then trailer it back home to Maine. All the other auto repair places I called could not even look at my truck for at least a week. When I called George's, he said have it towed right over and he'd have a look at it and do the repair. Within six hours, he had diagnosed the problem and completed the repair, which turned out to be a failed fuel pump drive module. Amazing service! George racked up some serious hero points that day! Came here thinking that I had electrical issues with my car (headlight was out after having been replaced 2 weeks prior and the dashboard light went out at the same time), but it was partly me being dumb (accidentally hitting the dimmer switch on the dashboard light) and partly the previous mechanic who had put the light in incorrectly. George was very nice, got me back my car quickly after he realized how easy of a fix it was, explained to me exactly what happened, and did not charge me through the roof because of that. I just moved here to Wakefield and was having trouble with my saturn vue. It was a bad alternator. Wasn't sure where to take it. The neighbor told my granddaughter about George's garage. I'm so glad she did! Even though it wasn't cheap because everything with a Saturn vue is expensive!!! But also next to impossible to work on. George's garage did awesome!! He put in a new alternator for the same cost other places wanted to do it with a remanufactured one. George is now my go to place for my car! Recently went for an oil change and check up and couldn't be happier with my experience. I had some bad experiences with previous auto mechanic places which lead me to George's. I live around the block from George's and have wonderful experiences with this business. On several occasions, they worked hard to save me money and get the repairs done right. The owner is wonderful to do business with. He is kind and eager to explain what sorts of work your car needs. He is also careful to shop around for parts. GEORGES"S AUTO REPAIR IS THE REAL DEAL! First time customer treated with total respect. I was in a jam leaving for a road trip on Monday am and Friday afternoon my front wheel bearing was shot. I called George Friday nite, and he said no problem he could do it first thing Sat am. WOW!! Great serivce! At George's request I brought my 2005 Audi to him "first thing in the morning" to fix an electrical problem. George and Matt quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem within an hour for an extremely reasonable price. I was going to go to a dealership where it would have cost 3 times the price and i would have had a much longer wait. My family, who lives in the area, have been going to George's for all their car repairs for years and suggested I bring my car there. Very impressed and satisfied. My BMW M3 was shifting very oddly on a Sunday coming back to URI and I was looking for mechanics that were around, and saw that Georges had good ratings. Luckily I found George's auto and called them up. George the owner picked up and was willingly to open up his shop and check out what was wrong. My transmission was leaking and needed to be repaired. We are from New Jersey and our car got a flat on a road here in RI. We looked for quite a while for a good spot to purchase and change a tire. When we asked George, he was extremely responsive and friendly. He found and put on the tire all within the hour hour of asking. My rear brakes blew on Rte 4. I live out of state and don't have a local mechanic so i googled auto repair and found George's. I called and they took my car in right away. I knew they were trustworthy when I told them I had a warranty but wasn't sure if it covered brakes and showed them the policy and they only replaced the pads and rotors. Outstanding service. My F250 SuperDuty blew a front transmission seal while towing our 24 foot camper. Ouch, not the way a vacation should start. After setting up the camper, we called George and he took the truck right in. 2 days later, we had the truck back in great shape. George is courteous, knowledgeable, and prices his repairs fairly.
