Called Wakefield Repair after noting my car purchased outside RI had only a rear license plate bracket. I asked if they could place a front bracket on my car. Rouhana stated he didn't have the bracket but if I could buy the appropriate bracket, even online, he could install it for a minimal cost. I found the bracket on Amazon and called him. He told me to come down at my convenience and he would install it. I brought the car in and he installed the bracket and both license plates in no time while I waited and at no charge. This is the place to go if you need any type of work done on your vehicle. My car had what seemed to be a power issue of some kind, which was worrisome due to have a battery that was quite new. I spoke with Gabe upon arrival and he was very kind, and listened to the issues described before making an initial assessment. He quickly was able to diagnose that the issue was not with the battery, but the alternator. I was obviously quite worried, but after being quoted a very reasonable and fair price for getting the work done to fix the problem, I agreed to have this shop do the job. I was called only a couple days later, being advised that the job was completed. I was so grateful for the short period of time needed to complete the work, being it was my only means of transportation. It has been over a month since having the entire alternator replaced, and am very happy to report there have been no issues at all. I went there for an oil change. The dealership wanted $48 to do it but didn't have the time so I thought I'd try Wakefield Auto Repair. They charged $82! I should have asked beforehand but thought that since they weren't even changing the filter it would be either the same or less than the dealership. Wow! This might be the case, but I'm old enough now to know that some places rip women off so you might have better luck having a man call for prices first. Edit in response to your comment: The threads were not stripped, the hex head was and all it needed was someone with vice grips.   I had a quote from the dealership for $48 that included the filter.   All I needed was someone to loosen the drain plug but your mechanic wanted to do the oil change and wasn't opposed because everyone needs the business right now and I assumed, incorrectly that you'd be reasonable. It also took a total of less than 10 minutes. And you're right, people should definitely ask you for pricing considering how you take advantage of the situation when they don't. read more

He took my tire off, put the spare on and had me on my way in 10 minutes. When I returned an hour later, the new tire had been delivered, he put it right on and sent me merrily on my way. The owner was a genuine honest guy. I went in for an oil change and he gave me information on the price and which oil was the best for my car. He even checked the tire pressure and actually recommended I do not get a tire rotation because my back tires had plenty of tread for the winter. . I brought my car to Gabe for a check engine light. By the end of the first visit, he told me that there are a lot of items to inspect for this code so he offered to take the car to the dealership on my behalf because he can get a cheaper rate for diagnostics with dealers equipment / computers. I believed that it was nice of him to try to help me save money by proposing that approach. After the end of the second visit, he told me that instead of going to the dealer, he decided to make an educated guess based on his experience that the engine coolant sensor needs to be replaced. I paid him for the work and the parts. Two days later, the check engine light came on with the same trouble code. I took the car to him the third time. When I went to pick the car up, he told me that he had reset the code and did some adjustment that I would not understand. He thinks that the check engine light will come back on and when that happens, only the dealership can handle it. When I asked him to give the money back because the issue was not solved after three visits, he immediately told me to get out of his property. From start to finish, my side of the conversation was calm and clear. Unfortunately I was left with frustration and disappointment. My advice to any potential customers in the future: avoid Gabe because he has a long way to go to be a responsible mechanic. I also learned that when the technician start guessing, it's a sign of their incompetence. I am filing this incident with BBB since it deserve some attention. read more
