This is only getting a 2 because the waffle fries were delicious. Upon arrival, when sitting on our table the entire bench came out. The waiter stumbled apologized, fixed and said just try not leaning on the bench! Really? Don't lean on the bench? How am I supposed to sit. My wife ordered a chicken gyro wrap. The first time it came out, the tzatziki came on the sandwich even though we asked for it on the side. The second time it came out the "house salad" looked different than the house salad that came with my panini. When telling the waiter, he was so embarrassed. My wife took ONE bite of the gyro and didn't eat the rest of it. There was absolutely no flavor in the chicken. The waiter asked if everything was okay and we told him it was tasteless. He saw my wife eating my panini. Clearly he knew that we weren't happy. It's so sad to have such a horrible experience at a restaurant we have been looking to have for weeks. Was quoted 35 minutes but got in within 20, not bad for a Friday brunch during the busiest season. We had the banana french toast and scrambled salmon. Both were amazingly delicious. Banana french toast had a cool design on the plate. Naturally sweet without syrup. The scrambled salmon was seasoned just to my liking! Not too salty. It comes with hash brown, and salad greens. Hash brown was crispy and not oily. Also, the brand of jam they use is one of the best. Even their ketchup packets are cute. Prices are fair but not the drinks. OJ and 2 cups of coffee came out to $10. I understand OJ is expensive but $3 for a cup of coffee? That's a little too much. Anyway service was good, food was great. I used to love George's but was very disappointed today. I got a chicken gyro with fries and side salad to go and the tzatziki was spoiled (smelled really sour and was clumpy) and the fries were cold. Some of the lettuce was wilted, as well. My family and I are huge George's fans, and am not sure if because it is winter and not prime season, some things go unnoticed, but I was very disappointed today and honestly a little grossed out. read more

We tried the location on Beach Avenue and waited a long time for a server to acknowledge us. Coffee was good but cups were tiny. I got an omelette and my husband got eggs, bacon, and pancakes. The pancakes came out the same time as my omelette and he wasn't given any butter or syrup and our server was not around to ask for some. He ate half the pancakes dry before the rest of his food arrived. The 2 eggs he finally got looked like only 1 egg when they finally arrived. No butter was put on the toast with my omelette either and no one came by until half my food was gone, so I went without. The breakfast potatoes turned out to be tater tots--the worst of the possible potato options my husband and I agreed. For some reason, we were there an excessive amount of time as a few tables around us had 2 groups of people come and go while we were there. My kiddos both had pancakes which were too huge to finish but it was too good to leave so they enjoyed it as leftover later. My husband had the wrap special which he loved too. A great cape May restaurant. If you're in the area, make sure to call or stop by to make a reservation starting at 5pm. The actual restaurant is pretty small but has a family friendly vibe. We ordered the flaming cheese appetizer and a dip sampling platter. Both were delicious and filling on their own. When the kitchen bell rings, that means it's time for the cheese to go on FIRE!!! Dinner and a show! The salmon was sold out for the evening, but the tuna was still delicious and came with a generous portion of salad and rice. Delicious! The lamb chops were also amazing and came with the same size options. Although they did not relieve my neck pain, they were tender and flavorful. We didn't stay for dessert, but they have a dessert menu as well. I would live to come back on my next vacation to cape May and recommend it for dinner. read more

I can't believe last night was our first dining experience here! We've owned a second home here for two years, and finally tried George's! We will definitely be back. Delicious, fresh Greek food. We had the gyro and salmon dishes. Both were extremely tasty. I loved that the salad came on the same plate. If you go, order the saganaki. Flames! What can be better than fried cheese?! Opa! After being a place my wife and I would go to every time we were in Cape May, todays visit was a big disappointment. We really enjoyed the Turkey and Brie sandwich, however instead of having freshly sliced "real" Turkey, they now use prepackaged "Oscar Meyer type" processed Turkey. Their usually great salads was full of brown old lettuce. I would much rather them increasing their prices slightly than drop their quality.. on the bright side, the French fries were changed, but just as good if not better. read more

Didn't think much of it at the time, but then overheard 2 other table's complaining about their order not being right. So they probably need to work out how they are taking orders on paper. The dinner here is satisfying and reasonably priced. They were out of salmon when we arrived, so I ordered the tuna steak, and my boyfriend had the lamb chops. They come with HUGE side salads. I had trouble finishing my meal because the portions are so big. We split the spread (cheese, hummus, tatziki, pita, olives, etc.) and the grilled cheese dish. The menu caught my eye as we were walking around deciding where to eat. So we walked right in and were told to choose a table. Little did I know, during prime seasons like the summer, George's Place can have up to a 4 hour wait! Lucky us that we went the day after Easter before heading home! I ordered an iced Latte and it was brought to our table right away. I decided on the George's Breakfast with scrambled eggs, chocolate chip pancakes (substituted instead of regular), bacon and hash browns (well done). The eggs were well cooked--sometimes from diners or restaurants the eggs are wetter than usual which grosses me out so I was happy that they were not! The bacon and hash browns were well done as I asked for them and also very good. The pancakes were fluffy and tasted like clouds of happiness with chocolate chips in between. My husband got the Breakfast Quesadilla (after I persuaded him) and YUM. I was wishing I had gotten it but at least he shared. Each bite was an explosion of flavor. Stopped here for an omelette and gotta say, this is the best place in Cape May for breakfast. I ordered the Denver omelette: stuffed with melty cheese and bacon. My husband ordered the Country omelette which was similar to mine but had sausage. They were delicious! We ordered sides of cherry tomatoes instead of the hash browns and were so glad we did. The tomatoes were fresh and gave the breakfast a nice and bright side. The coffee is also pretty solid. It was dark and smooth, unlike a lot of the bright and also sour coffees served at other restaurants for breakfast. My parents ordered a wrap and the Green Giant omelette. I didn't taste them but they were pleased with their dishes. Awesome place! FYI cash only. It's also a smaller restaurant so you might be waiting to snag one of the tables. I came in for breakfast on a Saturday morning and was able to sit right down. It's a very small restaurant so I would expect a wait during the high season. I asked my waitress if she thought the banana French toast or the chopped beef were better, and apparently I chose two of the most popular items so she suggested I get the French toast and a side of the chipped beef. So...I did. It was a huge amount of food and I ate perhaps half of each. But they were both incredible. I think if I am ever back in the area, and if I am I will without a doubt come here, I will opt for the same thing again. This review is for the location at 315 Ocean Street, Cape May, NJ 08204 (next to Acme supermarket). I made reservations a few weeks in advance. The restaurant was packed and we were apologized to that they had to move tables around. We were sat at a tiny table next to the door with hard metal uncomfortable chairs. We did our best to eat quickly and leave because it was so uncomfortable. We ordered the spanakopita appetizer. It was soggy, lukewarm and almost all of the phyllo dough was missing so it was a plate of well seasoned spinach. Next we ordered Greek salads which were beautiful but strangely made with balsamic vinegar which I do not care for. The feta cheese in the salad was really good. I ordered the falafel crostini for my vegetarian entree and my friend had the salmon special with roasted red pepper and feta cheese. Six pieces of falafel which had an extremely hot spice in it was served on top of pita bread with three different toppings of feta and kalamata olive tapenade, tomatoes and pesto and roasted red pepper with taziki sauce. It was a large portion and no appetizers would be needed if you have this as an entree. The falafel was just too hot for me and while it was tasty it was a dry dish needing more sauce to soak in to the falafel. It was very tasty though. My friend's salmon was a nice large piece and beautifully presented. BYOB and cash only. Check your bill before paying, other items were added that we didn't order. We've been going to Cape May for about ten years and have seen the lines for this restaurant for years, but never seemed to be able to get our kids to wait. This year we were determined to go and got there when they opened on a weekday. I was most surprised by how small it was. We were a party of five and the only place we could comfortably sit was the back booth. It was very hot, as it was raised slightly and separate from the main room that I would recommend trying not to sit here. The food was good. We enjoyed it. The banana French toast was especially delicious and beautifully presented. (Sorry for the sad picture-there's a lot of nice pics of this dish.) Came here because of DDD, and probably like a lot of us I was expecting awesomeness, it was just okay.... Whatever he ordered was a seasonal item which they only serve around thanksgiving time and they don't serve it at the moment. Ok. Anyways, ended up for lunch and we shared two meals to go. They both came with veggie straws chips and that was super super lame, you are a dinner, give me French fries, or a side salad or coleslaw or something besides processed veggie low cal straws out of a bag! This isn't the kids menu, give a real side, lame, lame, lame! That said, the main sandwiches we order were big and fresh. We had the Slovaki gyro, pita bread with big chunks of pork, tomato, lettuce, and yogurt sauce. Hmmm, we get better street food in the carts in NYC. The pork wasn't much seasoned and I am not sure it was well done. Disappointed, I didn't finish it, it was just unflavorful and lame, I feel bad wasting precious daily cal on that. Put something else on this... However, the white fish salad wrap was awesome! Very tasty, very fresh, came with crunchy bacon, crispy salad, pesto sauce, that was a very yummy wrap! The fact that it came with these silly veggie straws is ridiculous, but the wrap was great standing alone. The staff was super kind tho, very accommodating and professional. George's Place was featured on DDD...I didn't know this til the day before and outside in the back Guy has his signature and pic plastered on a wall. Place is small in size. It strikes me as a diner in sheep's clothing...with less of a selection. Breakfast menu (we were there for A.M. eats) consisted of wraps, pancakes, French toast...etc. We were torn, we wanted wraps and to try their limoncello FT with berries...the lovely waitress pointed out you can do 1 pancake/ FT and they could be any style...for additional cost. Winner! We decided on the veggie and breakfast wrap with a side of a singular limoncello FT. The wraps came with salsa and bland hashbrowns. The wraps were very good. Loved that they toasted the wrap. The Limoncello FT was drenched in the lemon yogurt. Usually we would dislike this but it wasn't too sweet. Coffee was good. Service was great. Went to George's because a fellow Yelper recommended it and boy am I glad that I did. Despite being across the street from Uncle Bill's Pancake House, I surprisingly have never wandered into George's before today. It's small and has a diner feel to it (because they only have booths) but the food is anything but diner quality. We came in around 1:30 for lunch and were shocked to find it completely empty, but then again the streets were covered in freshly fallen snow. About ten minutes later, more and more people were coming (I guess everyone had a slow start to the day like us). Unfortunately, around 2 pm more people were strolling in, but were being turned away, despite many open tables. Give people their George's! We ordered the Felafel in Pita, Chicken Gyro in Pita, the Mediterranean Salad, the Lemon Chicken Salad and an order of the Chicken Quesadillas. Yes, we were only 4 people, but after seeing another table get the quesadillas we just had to try them. My Felafel was out of this world and it was quite clear that the Pita was freshly made. I can't remember the last time I have had such great Felafel. The Chicken Gryo in Pita was also a good choice, but just not as good as the Felafel IMO. The Mediterranean Salad and Lemon Chicken Salad were both fresh and loaded with vegetables and chicken, but I felt bad that they were missing out on the Pita and Tzatziki. Although the Tzatziki definitely packs a hefty garlic punch to it, it was well worth the aftermath. The quesadillas turned out not to be as great as the rest of the meals, so I would definitely recommend their Mediterranean options, more specifically the Felafel! This was my first time at George's, so i cannot comment on their Breakfast or Dinner, but I will definitely be back to find out! ** George's is BYOB and cash-only.
