I come here at least once a week for breakfast and it has yet to disappoint. The vibes are great for breakfast and I'm sure for dinner as well. For breakfast I go with the combo breakfast (simplicity done to perfection) The home fries are always crispy and well seasoned along with very yummy bacon and eggs, and my favorite part the chocolate chip pancake (dessert). One of the owners was there and was very kind and helping out in every facet. Eliza took great care of me and was very friendly, good vibes all around. We went there for breakfast the first day and it was so good we went the second day but.... First day I had blueberry pancakes and my husband had seafood Benedict. Everything was excellent! Second day I had the gravy, sausage and eggs while my husband had the sausage and vegetable omelette. We were both disappointed. Gravy was good but biscuits were flat and hard not light and fluffy like I was expecting. Couldn't even taste the sausage. My husband said the same about his omelette. Couldn't tell by the taste there was any sausage. Service was great both days though. Except one thing I noticed there was a bunch of egg spilled on the floor near one of the tables. They sat a new party without ever cleaning it up. They just kept stepping on the food and these weren't little pieces. So a 5 star and a 3 star averages to a 4 with the good service. read more

We used to come regularly and it is a haul for us, at least 30 minutes My partners order came out incorrectly, despite the sever repeating back the order. The requested change was not a complication either. And it then took 20 minutes for the correction to come out and I was already done with my meal. They should have rushed his order above everything else as it was either the fault of the kitchen or the server. And this is not the first time this has happened here. And this time, when we rejected the corrected order since it took so long already, the manager blamed us for not ordering it correctly. Real nice move to blame the customer. I went 25 minutes away from my way back home to check this place out, and I was not disappointed. This is a very local diner, that has been around since 1918 if I remember the sign correctly. The portions are HUGE and you can certainly find street parking available. I came in on a Sunday at 10 and was able to sit at the bar with my SO. We were immediately greeted and had our coffee and water in no time. I went with the corned beef hash, three eggs, toast, and two crispy hashbrowns. He got the croissant sandwich with ham. We also ordered a blueberry pancake to split because we had to see how large it was for ourselves. You do not see the plate haha. Both meals were awesome and the service made you feel like you've been coming here for years. Do yourself a favor and come in, have solid meal, and leave extremely full. This was the second time I was taken here by family. The first time was three months ago and had one of the finest breakfasts I've had. This time I decided to try the cheeseburger. Being a bit of a "snob" about them I never really hold much hope but lo and behold this was one of the best tasting burgers I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, so flavorful, so juicy, and I was so stuffed I couldn't finish that last bite tho I tried so hard to. The fries were crinkle fries and cooked perfectly. Just an amazingly tasty lunch. My GF had the pulled pork sandwich and that was so beautifully tasty as well. Being here from California, I only wish I was able to dine here more often. (Or they had a burger this good in Los Angeles). Highly recommend. All of their food. And the waitress, Dee, was so pleasant and wonderful. New to town and was excited to check out the local breakfast spot. I went this past weekend with my 2.5 year old, 8 month old and husband in tow. We were quickly seated and it seemed as though those waiting did not have to wait too long either... The food took a reasonable amount of time to be prepared and my husband was impressed with how "clean" his eggs were. (At many a breakfast place, the griddle is used for cooking multiple items and other residue is visible on his eggs- this one was spotless and perfectly cooked). The portions were enormous, I think my daughter's hot cocoa was bigger than her head, and it goes without saying that the pancake was possibly the biggest I've ever seen. We waited about 30 minutes for a table and they have a great app so you can see where you are in line and get a text when your table is ready. The service was really great and the food was really good. The food came out pretty quickly too. I enjoyed the Benedict. The hot coffee was mediocre but not worth taking a star off for that - they were at least good about refilling it! I also appreciated all the George decorations. It made for a fun ambiance. I have not been to Georges since Dean still owned the place and wowwww it is just as good if not better than when I was last here. Me and my friend decided to try out dinner at the new Georges as that was never a thing before the new owners took over and let me tell you you will not be disappointed, I got the BBQ pulled pork mac and cheese it was amazing. My partner had the huevos rancheros and added sausage. He raved about it. We came here for a night away, went out to a fancy dinner and George's was by far the best place we ate at. Our waitress, Lisa, was phenomenal. Super sweet, accommodating and friendly. We waited a bit for our food, but it was well worth the wait and we enjoyed seeing all the interesting dishes and drinks that were being served. After our Whale watching tour was cancelled due to weather, we asked 7 Seas Whale watching Company where did they go to eat breakfast? George's was the spot of choice! We had a 20 minute wait in our car after giving our name and cell. It's small but comfortable to eat and enjoy the meal! The staff are warm and welcoming, Dee was our waitress! She suggested the pancakes and warned they were as big as dinner plates! So my son (11 y/o) said I'll take 2 instead of 3! He ordered pancakes and hot chocolate. I ordered 2 scrambled eggs bacon and coffee. His hot chocolate was good! My Coffee was strong and good! I guess there is 2 George's in 1. We're sitting in an area were its a bar/liquor is served. The other half is sit down normal eating. It doesn't matter, it works out! The line is long of this establishment, good sign of good business in my opinion. For the prices its a no brainer! Mom & Pop Businesses are always a go to place for a real experience in local lifestyles! Staff kept coming around for coffee or water refills . Bathrooms were very clean. Social distancing and mask wearing was implemented without issues of customers or staff. We will definitely be back next year on our Whale watching tour for a quick bite to eat! read more

This restaurant was great, and with a really fun concept! After a Gloucester beach day, we were looking for something to eat and remembered passing George's on the way in and decided to check it out. The restaurant is decorated with photos of various Georges (Costanza, Bush, etc). Three of us shared, and everything was delicious! The staff was also so accommodating as one of my friends is vegetarian. We shared the chicken Caesar wrap (chicken on the side), the veggie risotto, and the soft shell tacos. The tacos typically come with a choice of meat, and our server suggested we add mixed vegetables to them instead. This was a great suggestion and the tacos (along with everything else) were so good! I would definitely recommend this place and, after reading the other reviews, my only regret is that I didn't come for breakfast! read more

Had a GREAT breakfast at Georges of Gloucester today. I used this page to search for great pancakes and kept seeing both Georges and Sugar Magnolias (both in Gloucester) My first inclination was Sugars because I saw they had a lemon ricotta pancake that sounded amazing but turns out they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays ‍ So Georges is was. The place was packed but we were able to sit at the bar without waiting. It was clean and sitting at the bar we got to watch "the show". The two cooks in the kitchen seemed to work great together and seeing all the food come out gave me a list of things I want to try next time. They also seemed to have a really good system for the servers to get the orders to the kitchen. Tablet to in kitchen monitor. I ordered the hash and eggs with coffee and OJ. I like that they offer 2 size oj's in stead of giving just a small glass like other spots. My son got the Cinnabon pancake from the specials menu. The food came out great! My eggs were perfect. The home fries had onions cooked into them and the hash came out well done as I asked for. I was hoping that it was home made hash but learned that it was not. It was still good though. The pancake was ginormous and really good. My 15 year old couldn't finish an entire single pancake. He made it as far as the last 3 bites. The only downside to the day was the wait after ordering. They were super busy so I get it but it took a little over 50 minutes for the food to come out after ordering. I think having to cook both lunch and breakfast for a big dining room with just two people in a smaller sized kitchen led to some delays. I had nowhere to be so I didn't mind but is something to keep in mind if I ever wanted a quick bite. Anyway.... The food was great and I'll definitely be back. My family and I needed a quick brunch after the beach and we were not disappointed with George's Coffee Shop. A lot of the cafes and shops nearby were closing at 12 and this was the third place we called so we were happy to even find a place that was open. We ordered 4 dishes for take out as we were in a rush and it only took them 15 minutes. The Irish Benedict, caramel apple walnut French toast, steakbomb omelette, and crab cake eggs Benedict. Irish Benedict The eggs unfortunately was not as runny as I would have liked but the eggs with the corned beef hash was very good.
