Local spot - George's in Gloucester, MA
    Cecilia C.

George's came up as a local spot! So glad that we went for breakfast. Got greeted immediately, however had to wait for about 15 minutes because George was very busy and packed. Enjoyed looking at the photos and decorations on the wall. We sat at the bar and met couple of very nice ladies who ended up giving us additional local spots to check out during our stay. We ordered Nutella fresh toast, crab cake Benedict and George's Combo Breakfast. We devoured them -

Cute little spot in Gloucester! Good food - pancakes were a 10! Breakfast boats were also a hit. They don't take reservations, but we put our name on the list and it wasn't too long of a wait.

After driving by George's numerous times, we finally came by for breakfast and had an amazing time! George's is so welcoming and cozy, and they have a really fun and extensive menu. I was so excited to see tons of vegetarian options, too! The pancakes are an absolute must - especially if you get them loaded (they offer chocolate chip, Oreo, strawberry, etc). Great service, outstanding food - we will definitely be back!

Tip: ask to sit at the bar if all tables are taken, they serve food at the bar too. The avocado toast was pretty good, eggs poached well but too much balsamic and not enough avocado. The avocado was hidden at the bottom of the toast and was more of a spread like guacamole... no slices of avocado. I'd go again but get something else. Service is great ambience is that of any other breakfast restaurant near here. It is George themed so look out for Regina George, George Clooney, George Washington on the walls.

Full disclosure: We are not locals, but we come to Gloucester every year. George's is one of our "must" visits. What they are not: fancy, pretentious, expensive. What they are: a solid choice with terrific food, great service, reasonably priced. The clever decor with assorted "Georges" never fails to bring a smile. Kim, the bartender, was attentive and made us feel like she was glad we were there. My husband got the baked haddock; I chose haddock picatta. Wow! And Wow! Looking forward to our trip next year!

This is still the best breakfast place on Cape Ann. The omelettes are great, as are the pancakes.

The older waitress was a big grumpy, and the food was not exceptional, but it was well priced ample portion, and I would go back

Anadama bread is my new favorite thing! The omelette was amazing. I really enjoyed the "breakfast club" sitting behind us.

The scallop dinner w/fries and onion strings was a bit over $35, but there were 14 huge, right off the boat succulent scallops. The burgers also looked great. Get on over there.

We visited on Friday night and sat at a table as the bar seating was pretty packed. Crowd was pretty chill - a mixture of people in their 20's having drinks & apps, and then older couples/families enjoying dinner. We were happy to see Smithwicks on the draft menu, and we also got a Downeast cider with a caramel/cinnamon rim. We ordered the house made mozzarella sticks, which were ginormous, crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and all around delicious. We all opted with different types of burgers - sliders, fried chicken, and a pub burger. All were served with fries and were perfectly cooked. The coating on my fried chicken was crispy and flavorful. Service was awesome - our glasses were never left empty! Best of all, Dwyers has a free jukebox packed with favorites. Looking forward to coming back on our next visit to Portsmouth - we'll definitely be trying the deviled eggs, wings, and fried oreos!
