The bugs on the wall behind us

We have walked past Pomona many times and we finally decided to go there for breakfast. The menu sounded great and we were excited to try it out so we called ahead of time to reserve a spot. It was pretty busy and there were only two servers on the floor so we expected some wait time. Once we were seated and ordered our drinks and food, we started noticing bugs on the wall behind us and where they were preparing drinks in the kitchen. They served our breakfast and one coffee, but we waited on the other two coffees until we were almost done with our food. My daughter's waffle looked undercooked but we didn't say anything. The whole time we were eating we had to swat away fruit flies( this was indoor seating!!). I am very disappointed in our experience and we won't be going back.

Interior Decor is relaxing and awesome!

Came here as soon as we got in to town as it literally states open from 8- 4. Door locked, no one answering. Maybe keep up with your garbage mates. Several others also tried the door. Locked up and dark. Crap owners and no responsibility on their end. Lost out on a lot of customers to the great trap down the road.

Friendliest staff I have ever had the pleasure of being acquainted with! The ambiance is pure sophistication, modern, natural and elegant. I took my father out for a quick bite in between running errands. We enjoyed a fresh salad and coffee whilst viewing the ocean, ya simply can't beat it! Pomona Café is open most days from 8am-9pm. There is also a wonderful wine and cocktail selection menu. Highly recommend! Fresh ingredients. Beautiful display. Cute plates. Muchas gracias para todo.

Had a wonderful dinner with a friend here. Every detail was carefully crafted - the decor, the lighting, the friendly and polite service, the dinnerware, the plating, and we loved the food! So much so that we are booking my friend's birthday brunch here a couple of weeks for now. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening, Pomona!

Saturday morning brunch at its best. Beautiful decor, friendly service and outstanding food. We had ham and bacon quesadilla and eggs Benedict. Both with plantains on the side. Can't say enough good things about this great addition to Humphrey Street. I think you'll be here a long time.

Nothing felt gimmicky, everything was thoughtfully prepared. The ambiance is outstanding. Walking in, it felt like one of the better spots I've dined in Boston proper or New York. The space has real character. Our server Lou was exceptional. First-timers at a tapas-style restaurant, and he made sure we understood the portions, guided us through choices we weren't sure about, and kept us from over-ordering. That level of attentiveness makes a difference. The food was outstanding. The broccoli alone (yes, broccoli) was a standout. The ahi tuna and rice cake were equally impressive. My martini was perfectly executed. The owner came by, introduced himself, and actually spent time with each table. That kind of engagement from ownership tells you everything about the place's standards. I'm already planning my return to work through the rest of the menu. Whether it's a full dinner or just drinks and a snack, Njord Haven is worth the trip.

The delish cocktail less (which are NOT cheap) have almost no alcohol. I'm not a big drinker, but typically one will suffice. Two is a big night out. When I have three cocktails and almost no buzz, that makes you feel robbed. Who wants to feel ripped off? Several of my friends feel the same way and do not frequent for the same reason. I do hope the lovely owner does the right thing.

Husband had the clam chowder and haddock sandwich with onion rings. The food was great and exactly what we were looking for. The clam chowder was one of my favorites from all we sampled this trip. Among the many options presented, I chose the Caesar salad. The total for this meal? $49! (!!) The fish was listed on the menu as "market price." I neglected to ask what the price of roughly six ounces of fried white fish was at the "market" but discovered when the check came that it's $34. I'm not a fine-diner, but I'm pretty sure that 34 bucks typically gets you a much nicer dish at a much nicer restaurant. Charging that much for fish and chips is frankly dishonorable...but I guess it's part-and-parcel of the "get while the getting's good" ethic driving the affordability crisis in this country. Next, to the salad: I was charged $5 for the substitution, though the server did not warn me about this upcharge. Personally, I think it's understood when you ask about substitutions, that you are asking about FREE substitutions. If there's an incremental charge to substitute, say, a potato for french fries (I'm sure there is at Dockside, and I'd guess it's larger than it shuld be), it's incumbent on the server to declare it. Otherwise, what makes it a "substitution?" To summarize: nice enough place, greedy owners, OK but ultimately deficient service. Eat here if you want to spend $55 or so on an acceptable dinner that should cost 30 percent less.

I only gave 4 stars due to the lousy, noisy, raunchy bar flies. They couldn't care less about other customers as they were shouting and cussing away. Having a conversation with my husband was impossible. The bartender, who was 5 stars in her service to us, attempted to remind these people to stop yelling. I understand being a local, as I am one, and it makes me want to keep my favorite places in business. However, disruptive and rude bar flies should be shut out ff earlier and asked to leave or at the very least pipe down. Ultimately, I highly recommend anyone local or out of town to try The Tin Whistle for the food and service. Maybe try one of the tall comfy wooden booths would make for a better atmosphere.
