I was quoted $1.50 per cabbage roll. I picked them up and took them to the party when I opened the container to serve my guests imagine the embarrassment I felt at seeing cabbage rolls cut in half - making me look like I was a cheapo. I called Martin's to express my feelings and was told at that time the cabbage rolls were $1.50 for half - no one ever said that to me when I was ordering. Who serves - or sells for that matter - cabbage rolls clearly cut in half. This was a fairly large party - my guests weren't even sure what they were in the pan, but I made sure they all knew they came from Martins and how unhappy we were. again who half sells half of a cabbage roll!

The one and only picture of us on their fridge is from 2007. So, my husband and I decided that we might as well get pictures taken, so we can give a few to my parents, too. I mean, after awhile, it's like what do you give your parents for Christmas? Ours have everything they need. We decided we should get some for ourselves while we're at it. I contacted McKay Photography, mainly because we have known them for a long time and respect their work. We were able to schedule a time to meet one evening and it was nice enough to take pictures outside. This was a casual session, since we do know them and also because these were not formal pictures being done. And, we had two unruly dogs with us! We couldn't have been more pleased with the results and the price. I asked to have some pictures printed, which they did for us, as well as giving us a CD with all of the pictures on them. I am familiar with McKay Photography's work and prices. They are very reasonable, accommodating, and professional. They mostly do weddings, engagement photos, senior pictures, etc. But they were willing to take the time to do a short session for us, just so we have some new pics for the 'rents. Highly recommend! Though it was pouring the day of our tour, I never felt like Luann was rushing through, even as we stood outside with umbrellas to see some of the details. My husband had so many questions and she was armed with an answer for every one, even knowing the history of the unique furniture pieces inside. You could tell she had a genuine interest in the house and was happy to share what she knew. The weather kept us from taking the woodland path back to the visitor center but I am excited to go back and walk the grounds.

The venue itself was nice and the service was good. The experience, though, was just okay. A few…read moredownsides: we were each charged $25 for the fondue even though we barely participated in it, and $20 for hot chocolate felt pretty steep. It was also freezing--high of 11 degrees that night. The igloo had a heater, but it was still around 40 degrees inside, and we only lasted about an hour. There was live music, so we ended up leaving the igloo to go inside, but it honestly wasn't much warmer indoors either. By the end of the night, just my husband and I had spent over $100: $30 for the sangria tower, $12 for a small cheese pizza, $20 for hot chocolate, $25 for fondue, plus our $15 share of the igloo. Overall, it was something different to try, but not something I'd do again. Next time, we'd just come to hear the live music, spend $20 on the buffet (which we didn't even know was available), and have a few beers--cheaper, warmer, and way more comfortable
