This is not a deal breaker for me even though I think patients should be given thorough details of everything as any surgery can bring on anxiety. The real problem for me was after. Immediately upon leaving this facility I realized I no longer had my drivers license and I knew I just had it for this appointment. I called and asked if it fell out my pocket during the procedure, the lady who answered told me she would check and call back if she found it. I didn't hear back and they were closed on the weekend so I called again the following Monday. The lady on the phone chuckled and said if they found an ID they definitely would've called me. I was stomped because I knew that was the only place I went that day and my license was missing and I just had it. That appointment was in February, fast forward to now which is June. I get a call from their facility telling me they found my drivers license crammed into their dental chair and asking if I'd like it mailed to me. This immediately raised concerns for me. Why are you not thoroughly cleaning your dental chairs? And why is it that I called twice and nobody checked the chair I laid on? I felt like this was so unprofessional, especially because I went through so much to replace my license. When I expressed my concern it was dismissed, no apologies or anything. I would never give this place my business again and I don't recommend anyone else does until they learn how to sanitize after every patient.

After my root canal, I returned for my crown appointment. The temporary material could not be removed normally. The dentist repeatedly rocked and pulled on my tooth for a long time. I repeatedly said I was in severe pain, but the only response I received was, "It will be over soon." After multiple unsuccessful attempts, the material finally had to be cut out with a dental drill. That night, my tooth began hurting continuously. An X-ray later confirmed inflammation. I was prescribed one week of antibiotics, followed by another week when the pain did not improve. The prolonged antibiotics caused severe stomach pain and digestive problems, yet my tooth continued to hurt. I eventually sought a second opinion and was told there was separation between the tooth and the surrounding gum tissue, persistent inflammation, and that extraction was recommended. When I returned to discuss the situation, I felt that my concerns were dismissed. Rather than acknowledging that something may have gone wrong, the office focused on defending itself. The only solution offered was a refund for the root canal and a discount on future treatment, while I was expected to pay for correcting the damage. The reason I refused any further treatment from this office is because this was not the first time. About two years earlier, I chose to have what I believed was a minor procedure because I wanted to take care of my dental health before it became a bigger problem. Instead, I developed a serious infection afterward, and my face became severely swollen. I returned for additional treatment, but it failed again. I was eventually referred to another specialist, who successfully treated the problem. I was also told that the surgical wound was uneven and had not been completely closed. After experiencing two serious complications at the same office, I no longer had confidence in receiving additional treatment there. I understand that complications can happen in dentistry. What disappointed me most was not only the treatment outcomes, but also the lack of compassion, accountability, and respect when problems occurred. At the consult, Dr. Waters tried one last effort to prevent a root canal. Unfortunately, the issue was not resolved, and I scheduled the appointment for a root canal. My fear built up again. People talk about root canals like they are life changing, negative experiences. Again, I was terrified. However, I showed up for my 7:15 am appointment. Again, I was greeted warmly. When I was called back to my room, the dental assistant, Mallory, offered me a neck pillow and a blanket, which I quickly accepted. She was kind and reassuring, offering to answer any questions. Dr. Waters arrived, and he, too, had a wonderful manner - friendly and upbeat. Both assured me the process would be quick and pain-free. They were right. The only thing I felt was the numbing shot (and that was not bad at all). I have not experienced any pain or discomfort at all. I kept waiting for the pain to come (even after the procedure), and it never did. I did not just survive a root canal - I thrived throughout it! Great experience from start to finish.
