From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a huge selection of toys, adorable bandannas, and rows of freshly made treats that look like they came straight from a bakery case. All of their treats are made in-house with people-friendly ingredients, and the designs are so cute--holiday themes, fun shapes, and something for every occasion. My pup, Lexi, isn't very treat-driven, but she did sample a few while we were there (though she turned down one offered by a sweet staff member). Even still, I couldn't resist buying a few to take home because they looked so good. The staff really makes the place shine. The women I spoke with were incredibly knowledgeable--not only about their products but also about the history of the business. Hearing the story of how Gangster Dog got started showed me just how much passion and care goes into everything they do. On top of that, they carry high-quality dog food, tons of toy options, and fun accessories. Honestly, it's the kind of place where you could spend way too much time browsing because there's just so much to see. If you're a dog lover in the area, Gangster Dog is a must-visit. It's more than just a store--it's an experience for both pups and their humans!

My husband told me about some smaller bunnies he'd seen in there a few weeks ago. As I own a few New Zealand Bucks. Personally my trip in today was for a live feeder rat for my 6 year old ball python. Needless to say I saw two little bunnies behind a little girl who was sitting on a bench who actually wasnt even aware they were behind her because I asked were they hers and she said no. So then I asked the young lady at the counter could the bunnies be held or pet and she said yes. Soon as I go to pick up a bunny another lady who 1. Fails to even identify whom she is states Oh no you cant hold it, but you can pet it. So let me get this straight as a potential customer I cant hold an animal I'm potentially interested in?? So how many people go to buy a car and just purchase it right off the lot, no test drive? I'll wait... My point is every time I come into Pet Paradise I'm being told oh you can pet the bunnies or the ferrets but you cant hold them. Mind you I've seen "others," allowed to do just that. I've owned every animal mentioned previously in my 40+ years but it appears only certain people have the privilege here to actually interact with potential furbabies. Whelp they say word of mouth is the best form of marketing so figured I'd put the word out because it's a reoccurring theme I'm quite tired of and figured I'd let folks know about the fickle behavior of oh peep this the supposed manager who "Can Do what she wants," as I was told by the young lady behind the counter. Now last I checked a manager wasnt the owner but hey what do I know? I just need to find a better pet store with similar or BETTER options closer to me in Suffolk. Nobody buys cars without test driving, nobody adopts a dog without interacting, so why am I limited to petting a rabbit only and not holding it, but told oh you can hold it if your intentions is to buy one by the young lady behind the counter.. whew I could say so much but trust me I dont think I have to.

They recently hosted an Easter egg hunt for dogs, and it was honestly such a fun and creative experience. They had been promoting it everywhere -- in-store, online, and at other events -- so I was actually a little surprised more people didn't come out, because this is definitely one of those events you don't want to miss. They hid little "eggs" throughout the store in small cups for the dogs to sniff out, which was such a cute and thoughtful idea. Inside were all-natural freeze-dried treats, and I have to say, they actually had a really good selection. Lexi had six to find, and watching her go around searching (with a little help from me ) was so much fun. What I also loved is that they made it fun for the pet parents too. They had a little cookie tray for the adults, along with sodas and candy, which was such a nice touch and made it feel even more welcoming and well thought out. And to make it even better -- Lexi ended up being the big winner of the night and won a $25 gift card, which made it even more exciting! One thing I really appreciate about Care-A-Lot is that they consistently put together events like this for the community. They do really fun seasonal events (their dog-friendly Halloween events are always a favorite too), and I would honestly hate for people to miss out on them because they truly put effort into making them special. If you have a dog, it's definitely worth checking their website and event schedule so you don't miss the next one. Beyond the events, the store itself is always a great experience. It's clean, well laid out, and easy to shop, and the staff is always friendly, pleasant, and helpful. I've even used their self-service dog wash station, and that was a great experience too -- very clean, very convenient, and the employees were super helpful. This is truly one of my favorite local pet stores to support. If you missed this event, definitely don't miss the next one. While there, our 7-year-old son picked out three small glow fish, which we purchased at full price ($10 each)--no discount or credit was offered for the donation. We chose to support a local business, so we were happy to pay it forward. Unfortunately, within 30 minutes of introducing the new fish to our tank, they all died--despite proper acclimation. When my husband called the store to explain what happened and seek a possible resolution, he was told there was nothing they could do: no refund, no replacement, and no discussion of the fish we had donated just an hour earlier. The store simply cited a strict no-return policy. When I arrived home, our son was heartbroken and in tears. He had gone from feeling excited about his new fish to having none at all in the span of half an hour. This experience felt very disrespectful and dismissive, especially considering our goodwill donation. The customer service lacked empathy, and it's clear this business is not community-oriented. I will be sharing our experience with other local and military families so they can make an informed decision, NOT to shop here. If I could give zero stars, I would.
