Do yourself a favor and go across the parking lot to Hunters. This place was not well lit, had a smoke machine going and you could only sit at the tables if you were ordering food (we were ordering drinks). Dance music was more of the rave type. It was overly crowded and I couldn't wait to get out. The bathrooms were unisex and the door to my stall didn't latch. Bartender service was fast and the drinks were fairly cheap. This past weekend, I enjoyed a South Florida staycation from Miami to Fort Lauderdale and had the BEST time visiting Georgie's Alibi Monkey Bar on both Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. As a super fan of supremely talented entertainer Jennifer McClain, I always make plans to see her whenever she performs two shows in one weekend at Alibi. On Saturday evening, I arrived early at Alibi for Jennifer's "Diva On Demand" show and had an exceptional experience with at the bar with bartender Jair. He remembered me from my last visit and also my favorite type of vodka. Jair is welcoming and beyond friendly. My evening at Jennifer's show in the Monkey Bar was so much fun and the lively crowd made the night extra special. Bartender Josh impressed me with his energy and efficiency in delivering all of the drink and food orders from the large crowd with a smile. On Sunday afternoon, I returned to Alibi for Jennifer's "Chill Zone" show in the Main Bar and had an outstanding time. Bartender Niko was kind and provided phenomenal guest service. The crowd was ready to enjoy themselves and Jennifer brought the house down with her songs and style. I frequented this place very often as I live in Wilton Manors ..., not anymore as of last night. I have esophageal cancer and from time to time have a swallowing issue. Last night that happened. I went outside to relieve myself of saliva buildup. The ass bouncer/doorman wouldn't let me back in since he perceived me as drunk. After explaining my cancer he told me I had to leave the property. First time here and I had such a great dining experience. We sat outside, where they have a bar, table seating, and even a swinging bench to eat at. Inside is a lounge type nightlife that I didn't get to experience (but I wasn't digging the music, too much of that high-paced techno music). Under the appetizers I ordered the crab rangoon for $12, in which the menu has a decent selection.The crab rangoons tasted soo fresh, savory, absolutel delicious! I just wish the outside wonton was a bit crispier. As for the garlic sauce on the side to dip them in, at first I wasn't impressed. But as I just kept going with it, got better and better. Its definitely a different approach to the sauces that are typical with this dish. I was still a bit hungry after that but I didn't want to order anything heavy. Having already posted several other reviews of varying opinions on the Alibi one might be of the mind that my thoughts may bounce around a lot, but restaurants and bars are forever changing and in keeping current, my reviews merely reflect those changes. The Alibi basically remains the Mecca of the gay bars of Wilton Manors and Fort Lauderdale. It's the one most tourists, seasonals as well as resident gays make a point of at least stopping in at. In fact it's liquor sales are reputed to be the equal of all the other area bars combined. Their food, especially their burgers, particularly their "Champ"(my favorite) and their "Knock Out" are some of the best. The opinion on that is not only my own but that of the Fort Lauderdale Burger Cook Off judges as both were first place award winners. However, the Alibi has cut back on few of their offerings that made them a unique standout amongst other gay bars with food offerings. The size of the chicken wings used are now smaller, not nearly as big, plump or juicy as the once were. What was the Monday flat iron steak is now most often not being served but when it is, not as big or thick as previously. There are no more top of the line meal nights of Florida stone crab or lobster. Hence, though I still find the Alibi to be really good, I can no longer go a "Wee Hoo!" it's an as good as it gets place. read more

This place honestly sucks. We ate here this past weekend and were served by a person named Gia. Sweaty and hyper, honestly gave us anxiety. I swear a drop of sweat fell from their brow onto the table. I've always had good service here but Gia messed up a few things and quickly dismissed the mistakes as something as a nonissue. Usually frequent to this bar with friends and this the first time I experienced this kind of poor treatment. Went there on 7/24/22. This waiter (Jacob, guy with the glasses) was rude, disrespectful, and straight up told all of US (6 black guys) that he didn't want us in his section and because we don't leave tips, pretty much putting us in a box with other black people that's don't leave tips. He also just threw the drink chips to the table and walked off with a whole attitude as if we did something wrong to him. With the advent of apps like Grinder, Scruff, etc... gay bars are not what they used to be. Alibi is a dive bar catering to the FtL social security set to be sure, but that's not what makes it so uncomfortable. It's the poor service (they are polite and engaging only to their most diehard regulars) and unhygienic conditions (bartenders shake hands and handle cash, then squeeze lemons and limes into drinks) that makes this place intolerable. They are extremely popular on weekends, but you have to ask yourself, are cheap drinks worth it for this kind of gay ghetto experience, or is it better to spend a little extra and drink and eat in a cleaner, more service oriented place, even if it it isn't "gay"? read more

It's possible that they are still working out the kinks, but the bartenders are weird, cold, and not as good looking as they think they are, the new concept fails to attract a crowd because the drinks are mediocre and the decor is unchanged. I support their effort to revitalize a former space, as it's important to have institutions-- but I'll definitely skip this and unless you have a a weird fetish for boredom, odors, and mediocrity, you'd do well to avoid this place, too. read more

This is a very successful venue located in the heart of Wilton Drive. It's got so much going for it, but to us, the major attraction is most definitely NOT the cuisine. Rather, its greatest achievement is a plus-size chanteuse with talent and charisma that would register 9.1 on the Richter scale, if someone has one and takes the time to check this out. Jennifer McClain is astounding. She appears at least one night a week, usually Saturdays in the "Monkey Bar" portion of Georgie's Alibi, but this small room needs to employ a room stretcher since Jennifer usually fills it to capacity and more. We've tried to dine at Georgie's Alibi a few times, tried different menu items, but the best we can say about the food is, the service is prompt. Having said all that, we're addicted to the place based simply on the luminous talent of the slightly raunchy, very saucy, extremely wonderful singer who blows the roof off for about four hours a night. Wait staff are great. But Alibi's management is playing slick willy with customers on the cost of drinks. I use to get 2-for-1 at $6 or so for whiskey. Now they charge $14 or so for the 2-for-1 .... Hello everyone and the lgbtq+ community, let me start my post by explaining that I have traveled to many countries in Europe and South America and many very large cities in the USA like Los Angeles and New York. I have seen great shows and great performances by great performers in incredibly nice establishments, clubs and restaurants... having said that I have a good frame of reference I would think... Unfortunately I must say that Alibi is not one of the great ones in fact quite unremarkable to say it nicely. I was there very recently on a Saturday night supposedly one of the biggest nights of the week at 10:00 p.m. and drag show started, the quality of the performers was very low just putting a wig and some kind of half well applied makeup does not make a quality performer they barely wear in sync with the lip syncing mostly just walking around real fast trying to grab the most dollars they could the show was very lacking in talent, maybe because of my traveling I am spoiled and used to great performances and performers and I carried that expectation down to the places I go to. The music after the show was just your standard run of the mill, nothing special music. The outdoor section also quite unremarkable borderlining to the mediocre. I was looking around to the kind of food that people were having and I ordered myself some as well I noticed it's quite a greasy spoon for the most part the menu is just a regular menu that you find in any order remarkable place certainly not a wow culinary experience. I'm supposed if you have the mentality that you are stuck with the choices you have and there is no other alternatives unless you travel somewhere far then you have to take it as it is and eventually I guess for the locals they get used to it as they say you cannot miss what you don't have, but some of us that know the difference it was quite a disappointing experience. read more

This wonderful gay bar brings a lot of traffic through. The service is always so sweet and kind. I have yet to have a bad experience here, but the food and drink is not necessarily up to par. I just think it could be so much better. They have $3 Long Islands and they are full of ice because they are in giant cups. We had to ask for no ice in our drinks to actually be able to taste them. Then I had a veggie burger and I honestly wish I hadn't. The veggie burger was fried and soggy because it's not a real burger so the vegetables make it mushy anyway then you add the fried grease to it. It had the consistency of mashed potatoes.
