You can't miss this place. It's old fashioned diner vibe is nice and the service is nice as well. As far as the food salad is basic. The hummus platter was fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed the hummus as well as the dipper options from pita, peppers, olives, cucumbers and others. The hummus was my favorite part of the meal. I also had the patty melt with onion rings. It was cooked well and tasted average. Overall nothing crazy surprising about this place. I would love to try the breakfast though. The key lime pie was out of this world! I wish I had that for breakfast first. The omelette tasted very grainy, but looked delicious. It was a weird texture and hard to explain. I would not order it again. The biscuits were grilled, which made for a really nice fresh taste and good surface for jelly. The grits were nothing special, but they were good. The coffee was great diner coffee. They do have jalapeños, though. That usually determines whether I come back or not to a diner. Unfortunately, the omelette I would want to put them in did not make my palate happy. I will return, but I will skip the omelette. I noticed another table enjoying French toast. Georgie's Diner is definitely our go to lunch spot! the food is always good and our regular server Rachel is so sweet and nice. She always does an excellent job to make sure that we have everything we need! I can recommend the Gyro plate, tuna melt, the greek potatoes, the meatloaf, the veggie omelet and hash browns but the only thing I don't really recommend are the onion rings for some reason they're very bland. Also they have a variety of delicious desserts which change almost everyday for example: creme brulee cheesecake, key lime pie, baklava and raspberry ombre cake! read more

This is my favorite place to eat and im a local college student. I just transferred and i found this little hole in the wall. In the morning they have your traditional breakfast (Waffles, pancakes) and at night it transforms to this greek fusion place that serves greek traditional dishes but also traditional american favorites like Meat Loaf, Shrimp Scampi, and liver and onions (for those who like it) . It's awesome! They even have cheese fries and classic dishes like hot dogs for kids! Would HIGHLY recommend. Atmosphere: Quiet and varies depending on the time of day. Some days its super busy and others its not. It should be busy though for the food. In July, I have lived 3 years in St Aug.. I have called Georgies for a friend , a shut-in- for holiday meals. At least 5 times. Either-call back after 10am- I do -"we sold out". Or , today, Easter, "we do not take to go orders till after 3"--this is one meal. So, my advice is dine in--. I have had food there that was "good"-meatloaf greasy, baklava-is dry -like layers of card board and they squeeze honey on it beore giving it to you--"that ain't Greek". Consistent, good selection, no wait, reasonably priced, and great service. I have come here twice while visiting St Augustine, both time for brunch on a Sunday morning. Most other restaurants around will have a long wait, but Georgies has plenty of seating and I have never had to wait. The interior looks like a traditional diner, with a small bar seating area and then booths along the outside. Everything is chrome and 50's style. The menu is similar to a Denny's with a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options - but they have a lot of Greek inspired options I noticed. Most recently I opted for the Eggs Benedict which was very good and a large portion. The biscuits and gravy were a little underwhelming, however the Salmon Bagel looked incredible. My friend got the chicken fried steak and eggs and ate the entire plate - so I'm assuming he liked it as well. The servers are always very friendly, and they have plenty of parking available around back. It's worth a stop if you're in the mood for a diner! read more

There is plenty of parking around the diner. This is a Greek diner that serves up authentic Greek dishes and other items as well. The atmosphere was fun and casual. A bit dated but bright and clean. We were seated in a booth right away. It was mid morning so the place wasn't that busy. The waitress was super friendly and quick to serve. Hubby ordered a pecan waffle and I ordered a Gyro. The pecan waffle was full of pecans. I mean really full! It was amazing with butter and syrup. The Gyro came with a fresh pita and salad. It was a nice big portion. This aluminum sided diner looks as fi it belongs up north somewhere. Inside is a 50's kind of feel. I had previously perused the Yelp reviews and noticed all the 4 & 5 stars so it was a go for me. I couldn't wait for some down home diner food for dinner. In looking at the menu I noticed it was all Greek food! Nothing really appealed to me since I was planning on comfort food. I would of left but traffic was horrible as it was dinner hour. So, I ordered breakfast. Poached eggs, grits and a biscuit. I was really disappointed because the grits were just big lumps and mealy. The biscuit was cut in half and grilled. Yes, grilled! I'm guessing it was their way of trying to revive it from old age. There were only 2 other tables and it was the strangest thing but the gardener was hanging out the whole time I was there. 5 stars for awesome customer service! It was a bright Sunday morning. My group was checking out of the Casa Monic after attending a beautiful family wedding. We all wanted breakfast and needed to find a place. I jumped on my Yelp App, of course, and found Georgie's. Three of us went ahead of the pack to try and snag seating for 16. Yep, 16. On a busy Sunday morning. The hostess was a little shocked and gave me a deer in headlights look. But another server, I think it was Stephanie, came to the rescue. We decided the patio was our best shot. Stephanie told us people will often grab tables outside and asked for our help in claiming them. No problem! As tables cleared, we put them together until we had the entire patio. They even had to grab two chairs out of storage for us. Seating probably took close to an hour, but it was fine given our large group and staggered arrival times. Now, food! All of the meals came out within just a couple minutes of each other. And mostly in seating order. I had the french toast with cherries and hashbrowns. The french toast was long diagonal slices of what seemed to be a baguette. Nicely toasted with a good custard and powder sugar. With the cherry topping I didn't even need syrup. The groom ended up walking away to get something from a friend who was leaving town just as the food arrived. They kept his breakfast on the warmer until he came back - classy move. We ordered a litany of dishes, everyone enjoyed the food, it all came quickly, and correctly. This doesn't always happen with a large group! Stephanie was prepared to split checks for us, however the newlyweds bought everyone breakfast much to our surprise and I'm sure the server's delight. I'm glad we found Georgie's. The weather was beautiful, the patio turned into our group's private dining room, and we were able to enjoy a relaxing breakfast before many headed to the airport to leave town. I always wanted to try this cute little silver diner out....and finally did! This is a Silver diner that you just can't miss! Small but cozy with table seating and bar seating inside with tables and chairs for outside dining. Staff was fast, friendly, and correct with all orders. It is obvious that locals come here a lot, as people were greeted by their names and hugged as they came in. Nice to see locals supporting locals! I was here on a busy Saturday morning, and luckily got a table very quick. The order was taken in a timely manner, and our food was served fresh and hot! I ordered the French Toast with a side of bacon. The French toast was perfect, with a slight crisp to the edges and topped with powered sugar. This is such a big plate that I had plenty to share with my friends! My friend had the Corned Beef and eggs....and I must say YUM...the Corned Beef was extra crispy......YUM! So disappointed on my recent visit... food took far too long to arrive (only 4 tables in the whole place so they weren't busy). Server forgot to order my side, which took forever to get and came out burnt. She apologized but still charged me for it. That's not the way to handle issues like that. This place was interesting to say the least. My wife absolutely had to have Greek because she said she has been wanting a gyro for a very long time. We came in here about an hour before closing and it was definitely dark outside. We approached it and we were a bit confused because we thought we were going to a Greek restaurant. There was no sign to indicate that it was Georgie's either--at least not until we saw that the only indicator is above the door and not lit at all (you will not see it very well at all). We actually bypassed Athenos downtown and walked here to have dinner, because the other restaurant had about 3 people inside and I thought something was wrong with that on a Friday night. They were both about equal on pricing, because I could see the cost on the menu outside of the other restaurant downtown. Also, the lady sitting outside (Athenos) wasn't exactly encouraging me to sit down--I felt she was trying to stare me down as I looked at the menu so we just chugged along to Georgie's. Funny thing is there were not that many people in this restaurant either. The waitress wasn't overly pleasant, but she got the job done. My wife and I both ordered gyros and she also ordered some onion rings. She got a lot of onion rings! It was enough for both of us and we actually left some. That isn't a bad thing, though. They were good, but we were full. The gyro was pretty good, but not outstanding. It was laden with beef and lamb, tomatoes, tzatziki sauce, lettuce and raw onion. It was not red onion. It was a very pungent, bitter, almost burning yellow onion. It did not need to be on the gyro. I would take a bite and it was overwhelming. I love onions, but it really needed to take a vacation today. Maybe if they had cooked the onion or something, but not raw. If I was a local I would probably go back again and again. There are some pricier items on the menu, but there are also some reasonable items considering the location. The 50's diner is definitely there with the hamburgers and I saw some other people order them and they looked very desirable. I had the pastitsio, a classic greek dish. The outside of it was very hot. The inside was VERY cold, so I sent it back. It also came smothered in a very non-Greek red sauce, which was not in the description and just strange. Server came back in less than 5 minutes with a new one that was piping hot. How was that possible? Microwave, that's how! And the meat in it had a distinctly freezer-burned taste, so it must have been frozen. I feel sorry for anyone who is introduced to Greek cuisine this way because they would be disinclined to ever order it again. I'm giving two stars instead of one because my fiancée enjoyed her lemon-chicken soup (i.e., Avgolemono soup). I know what it is supposed to taste like and I didn't care for it. 0 for 2. Stopped in for lunch at Georgie's Diner in Saint Augustine. Frankly we were going to go to Carmelo's for pizza but the parking was impossible so we decided to go try out Georgie's instead. Georgees is the old styled diner located just behind Carmelo's in St. Augustine. They have a parking lot right out front. They have a pretty big menu with lots of breakfast lunch as well as dinner items. Many of the things that you would expect from a diner. I opted for the corn beef hash and eggs. It was very good. The serving size was very generous! My wife decided on the Gyro. It was a huge thing. Frankly it was too big to eat like a Gyro, she had to eat it like a salad. She really didn't want a salad after all. It also was very good. They were just starting to get busy when we got there. The prices are fair. They do take out.
