Next time we visit Saint Augustine, this will definitely be a brunch spot we hit up again. We went on a weekday morning and were seated immediately. Can't stress this enough "Cash Only Business". Now that I've gotten that out of the way....... Sheila's Cafe at Anastasia Kitchen is a very quaint space with some outdoor seating. There is very little ventilation so be mindful of this if sitting inside. The waitress you keep reading about in previous reviews is filled with the southern charm and hospitality that you expect. We visited Anastasia Kitchen last week and it was a lovely experience. The dining area is small, but very cozy. The waitress (I forget her name unfortunately) was very friendly and courteous. She took the time to make small talk with everyone in the dining room, and treated us all like she had known us for years. The breakfast was amazing. We were quickly greeted and offered our choice of inside or outside seating. It is small and space limited, but when we arrived late morning there was plenty of room. Absolutely wonderful, there was four adults and one toddler in from out of town. Small dinning room but they make it work nicely. The food was down home fresh and hot when it hit the table. All the employees were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend to anyone in town, just plan on a wait as they only have about 7 tables inside. Only recommendation I would have is add a few outdoor heaters and a roll down/up plastic window wall and you could get a few more tables on the outside for the cooler days...share that cooking with others! Horrible experience!!!! I'm visiting St. Augustine with my family. We come to this restaurant and were met outside before we could reach the door. She tells us it's a 20 min wait (no problem). We waited over 30 min to be seated (no problem). When we were finally seated, we began looking at the menu and see at the very bottom of the menu that they only take cash. Not taking debit cards is not customary in this day and age so it would look like this establishment would make it a priority to inform their patrons of this up front. It was beyond frustrating having to wait outside for over 30 min just to find out we cannot eat there and the waitresses not caring that they just totally inconvenienced you. Anastasia Kitchen was an inexpensive, quality breakfast in a prime spot on Anastasia Island. My fiance and I were headed to the St. Augustine Lighthouse Thursday morning and wanted a quick breakfast. Anastasia Kitchen had good reviews and seemed as good as any. We arrived to an empty parking lot and a completely empty restaurant. No diners this week day morning. Even though majority of places are allowing dine-in now, Anastasia Kitchen was only doing outdoor seating. We sat at one of the picnic tables and the Florida humidity got us before our drinks even arrived. Our waitress maintained distance and it was the weirdest dining experience we had our entire trip in St. Augustine but she was nice and personable. Our food was out quick and was really good. I ordered the Pork loin eggs benedict and my fiance ordered a traditional eggs, bacon and toast breakfast. The benedict was smothered in a tasty, zingy Hollandaise sauce with a thin slice of pork resting under the poached eggs that were slightly runny as they should be. The side of home fries were not fried but more of potato chunks that had a good flavor to them as well. My fiance's traditional breakfast was good she said and unlike other places that charge $3 extra for bacon, her breakfast was $7 with it included. The food was tasty and filling and the service was good. I'm sure they had their own reasons as to why they only offered outside seating but sweating uncomfortably for breakfast was the main thing I remember from this visit. This one was difficult. The all female staff were all so very nice and welcoming. The location was very small with some seating outdoors, though the open kitchen made you feel like you were at a member of the family's old wooden home, You would never have guessed you were sitting in a retail plaza. We were seated promptly, the food was excellent, and the service was great! The negative was this... we waited... and waited.... and waited for our order to be taken. The table next to us had received their food and nearly finished before or order was even taken. It was enough that, had we not been so hungry... we would have left. The two tables next to us had said that they had waited a while as well. So, while this would have easily been five stars, the initial long wait was excessive. Perhaps this was a fluke. If in the area again, we would definitely try again. What would I suggest? Notify customers up front that you do not accept credit cards. Find where the problem is with not taking an order for 30 minutes, and in the meantime, keep letting your customer know that you apologize for the wait and you will be right with them. Maybe even set down some biscuits and butter while they wait. This two things would have done wonders! read more

My husband ordered the Sheila's Skillet Special after recommendation from the waitress and it was absolutely delicious. Very flavorful and a perfect portion size. I ordered the 2 strips bacon, 2 sausage 2 egg and 2 chocolate chip pancakes. All of it was so yummy. The coffee was great too. Also, the price was fantastic. We just enjoyed the BEST breakfast here. Truly delicious, great service, the best prices of our whole vacation, and a datil sauce that had me drooling. Place is teeny tiny, with a few tables on the front sidewalk. We choose to eat outside, and the shade kept us cool enough. Menu is basic diner food with a few standouts. I tried the quiche...so good!!! The breakfast potatoes on the side were delish. My buddy tried their unique take on huevos rancheros and loved it. The meal was made by their homemade datil sauce. It had a great spicy kick, tons of flavor, and is made in house. Apparently they don't have it every day, just when the chef makes it. Eggs were cooked well (ordered over-medium) and the sausage and bacon were excellent. The sausage even had a nice crisp without being burnt so kudos to the cook! Home fries were good too.
