I had passed by this new location on the way to St. Augustine Beach recently and it looked nice so we decided to give it a try for dinner tonight. The check-in process and initial service was a little slow but once we got our server things started to get better. It was a hot day so we reserved a table indoors. The interior has high ceilings so it appears bigger, but the acoustics were not great and it can get pretty loud. I also wished they would have brought some of that beautiful bright orange color scheme into the indoors. The outdoor section looks great. The menu offers plenty of appetizers, salads and mains. I went with the steak frites. It was a sirloin steak with delicious chimmachurri sauce, seasoned fries and a spiced rum cream sauce. Both sauces were excellent. My husband had the pulled pork and waffles entree. He loved it. We were too full for dessert but maybe next time.

All around great experience. The drinks were great and the food was amazing. The 'Pop' Special was delicious and came with zucchini and squash as the vegetable. I will definitely order this again

We went for lunch on Friday of 4th of July weekend. Got seated immediately without reservations. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside. There are several fans so it kept us comfortable and the bugs away. Great food, great service. Parking is limited though.

    The taco (I got hungry)

It definitely deserves its reviews just based on the food alone. Funnily enough, the brisket in the tacos tasted like pulled pork, but they were so juicy it must have been beef. The shrimp was excellent and the fresh catch was super juicy. It was very bright with nice natural lighting, making it feel grand even though it's not necessarily a large building. Service was fast and polite, not outstanding but good. Prices weren't outrageous either.

This place was nice. I heard a lot of good things. I was excited for the 'N GRITS with shrimp, but the temperature was off. The shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. The grits were room temperature, when I expected them to be hot. The pork tenderloin was our other dish. The mashed potatoes were amazing! I have never had crispy spinach, quite reminiscent of seaweed. I could eat a bowl of them. The AUTUMN PORK TENDERLOIN was cooked well and very tasty. The Coquito Daydreamin' cocktail was yummy. Our server was very nice and attentive.

    GF Veggie Burger... so good!

I got a gluten free veggie burger with fries. It was phenomenal. I eat GF and don't really eat much meat, so it is hard to find a good, hearty meal when dining out. I was completely satisfied and wish The Floridian were local to me so I could continue to go back!

A Cuban sandwich with a twist

The restaurant just reopened in their new location 2 days ago. They have a really nice outdoor seating area. They are also open on Mondays which is so nice. They are closed on Tuesdays. The servers looked like an experienced bunch and the service was excellent. It is a wonderfully curated menu where people with food allergies and sensitivities should be able to eat safely. My citrus salad with grilled chicken was a healthy, nutritious, high protein lunch. It was packed with such fresh, tasty ingredients. My husband enjoyed his Cuban sandwich. It had a different name and it looked like pulled pork instead of ham. He said it was great. It comes with tortilla chips or a side salad. I can't wait to go back and try other things.

Really good food. The new space is really nice. The service can be better- it was just mid. I would go back at night to check out the bar.

Fried Green Tomatoes with Herbed Ricotta and Basil Aioli

Located in St. Augustine's historic district, The Floridian feels like all of the best Old Florida has to offer--you can almost picture Hemingway working at a table in the corner. There is plenty of outdoor seating, however, we sat inside, at a table with a lovely view of the outdoor patio. The menu was vegetarian friendly, and many of the menu items can be made vegan. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes, made vegan, and served with herbed ricotta and basil aioli on the side. We both ordered the Black Bean Sweet Potato Burger, one vegetarian with pimento cheese, and one vegan. Everything was prepared and served with care--the servers identified each dish as it came out, noting whether it was vegan, which is always appreciated. This was by far the best meal we had on this trip to Florida--every single bite of food at Floridian was an explosion of flavor. We saw a vegan coconut cake in the display but were too full to try it. Maybe next time!

Super yummy restaurant! Cute environment and yummy food. One thing was the drinks were very sweet. I specifically asked if a drink was sweet told it wasn't and then got handed basically a drink with all juice. But the food was great. We ordered: biscuits and belly, harvest flatbread, sunshine salad, beef ragout, 'n waffles I would order it all again!!! So yummy. The beef ragout had incredible flavor. Heads up it's basically a big bowl of meat.

Great service & unique eats! The Floridian is definitely a must try while in St Augustine. Great ambiance inside & out and I wanted to try everything on the menu! The meatloaf was amazing as was the fresh catch nicoiese. We also enjoyed our appetizer - the pickled pepper shrimp.

Originally made plans to have dinner at Prohibition Kitchen but they were closed for a private show so my wife and I pivoted to The Floridian instead. The main thing that sides out to me about this restaurant aside from the food is its ambiance. It's almost as if you're walking into a secluded garden, so if you're looking for a place for a nice and intimate date or dinner, this is a good option. We were seated inside at first but decided to move outside because there was a larger party that was a bit noisy and the staff was extremely accommodating. Once relocated, we ordered the chips and dip as an appetizer, their specialty lemonade (blood orange lemonade) and sweet tea for drinks, and their shrimp and gifts and sausage and shrimp plate for our entrees. The appetizers and lemonade was delicious! I wasn't a big fan of the sweet tea (tasted more iced than sweet) and both of our entrees were okay. Not bad! Just not what we were expecting from the dishes. Overall the experience was great and I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area and are looking for a good assortment of dishes.

Pretty pretty pretty place. They have space for you in the inside area, outside and in the front patio tables. Menu is fun. Wine list is god. My daughter is doing a vegan diet, she said the vegan burguer was good. I order a mango passion fruit lemonade that was amazing, so I repeated it. Prices are average and for Saint Augustine? Is a find, price wise. The Kentucky derby desert is to die for. Attention is great, friendly and still professional. I heard they are moving, I will follow them wherever they go.

Ask the Community - The Floridian

    Any vegan options available?

Yes! My server told me many if not most of the items on the menu can be vegan. They have tempeh and tofu to sub in and some vegan sauces as well.

Does this place have a new chef? It's sadly nothing like it used to be a few years ago. :(

I don't know but when we went in June it was good.

    Is there a childrens menu?

    There is no children menu.

Are you "still" requiring face masks?

No face masks when we were there this week.

What are the best parking options for this restaurant?

At SE 2nd Court and SE 15th Avenue is a metered parking lots thats 1 block over from the Floridan.

Is the meat loaf sandwich available as a dinner option?

It was not when I went there. I think if you ask, they may make an exception!

Do you know if they reserve outside seating?

Yes we had a party of 8 reserved and seated outside!

The combination of imaginative cocktails, exceptional food, and a unique atmosphere makes every visit memorable. The cocktail program is outstanding. We enjoy trying a variety of their exotic and inventive drinks, and they never disappoint. The flavors are bold, creative, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant bar. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant has done that for me more than once, and that is why we continue to return whenever we visit St. Augustine.

When I arrived with my pregnant wife and my service dog, he asked somewhat curtly if it was a service dog. After I confirmed and thanked him, he rudely placed the menu on the table, turned around without saying another word or showing any basic courtesy, and just walked away with his back to us. It was a pretty cold and uncomfortable welcome. That said, the restaurant is absolutely charming. I really loved the interior ambiance--it's cozy, well-decorated, and has a very pleasant vibe. The food was extremely delicious. We ordered the Half Pound Ice Plant Burger and it was juicy, fresh, and packed with flavor. You could taste the quality in every single bite--the meat was perfect, the ingredients fresh, and everything very well balanced. Definitely one of the best burgers I've had recently. Despite the initial host experience, I would return without hesitation for the food and the atmosphere. Highly recommended, but they could improve the initial greeting.

One thing I love about this venue is their free shuttle system that takes you to your car (which is free parking) during the concerts. The venue is on the smaller side so it feels more intimate for the artists. There are a few areas where seating is obstructed but they do mention that when buying tickets. One tough thing about this venue is the merch line usually tends to get MASSIVE and I have seen people miss a handful of songs while waiting in it if an artist takes the stage. Bathrooms are usually clean but they are scattered around so you may need to hunt for them. Drink prices are pretty reasonable and they usually have a drink of the night that is slightly discounted. There's a large canopy that covers the lower seating area, as well as the pit, but the rows farther back are uncovered. I enjoyed my spot in the lower seats because that canopy makes all the difference in the FL sun. The stage & venue aren't the biggest so that gives it a more intimate feel which was nice. It'll still fit in well over 4,000 people, though, so you can catch some big names here. The merch lines definitely build up so that's unfortunate, but they're handled efficiently. Prices at the concessions aren't too bad, they're actually on the cheaper side compared to some of the places I go for concerts/events. There were also a good handful of water fountains throughout. One of my favorite things about this place is that it's essentially located in Anastasia State Park so it's surrounded by nature. The beachfront is only a few miles away so it's nothing short of beautiful. The employees were friendly which always adds to the experience. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing another concert here soon.

We dropped in late afternoon and grabbed a few seats at the indoor bar. The bar staff here works the entire bar I'm sure we were greeted by all of them during our visit and each provided exceptional service. The drinks here are very creative and all come with very generous pours, if you like rum this is a place you'll fall in love with after your first sip - we decided to just go down the drink menu and try as many as we could responsibly and immediately knew this would be a favorite when in the area. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite drink and it would be just as tough to pick a favorite off their small bite menu. We decided to try a few of the specials, it's a relatively simple menu but everything is filled with flavors that are incredible - the char-grilled oysters are plumb, fresh and unique in every way, the fried black grouper bites were crispy served with a delicious remoulade and a spicy jalapeño chimichurri that will light up your tastebuds, we also tried the jerk chicken thighs skewers and amazing crab empanadas filled with a curry concoction like no others. The renovations are a massive improvement over the previous bar, and the atmosphere is genuinely lovely. The Good: The food is generally solid. The fish dip and salads are nice, and I've had the smash burger a few times--it's amazing. The fish sandwich I ordered was very bad and I couldn't get a member of staff's attention so left it uneaten. The Bad: Unfortunately, my most recent visit was entirely derailed by the service. We sat at the bar and the experience was frustrating. The female bartender (dark hair, glasses) repeatedly interrupted me while I was trying to order, and then got my drink wrong. When I tried to correct it, she literally walked away. My friend tried to order for me, but three bartenders were huddled together chatting and completely ignoring the patrons. We spent a lot that night, and leaving a fish sandwich I didn't enjoy (and couldn't send back due to lack of service) just added to the disappointment. I sincerely hope management addresses the bar staff's lack of attentiveness, because if this continues, this cute place won't last. I'd be happy to speak with the manager directly about this, as we are locals who want to keep coming back.

It reminded me so much of the classic lasagna I grew up eating, layered with rich Bolognese and a creamy bechamel sauce that made it feel both nostalgic and elevated. My boyfriend went with the steak (I believe it's a New York strip) and swapped a few of the sides to his liking. The steak was absolutely cooked to perfection, a beautiful medium rare. I may or may not have stolen about four bites... and yes, it was worth it..... We were way too full for dessert, but we did enjoy a bottle of wine with dinner which made the whole experience feel like the perfect date night. The service was fantastic, the food was memorable, and it's definitely a place we'll be coming back to for many more dates!
