We made the deal by giving them a second chance by paying $100 more to include more trimming work. After we returned from summer break, more plants were brown. The strawberries were all gone. Mango tree was about to fall off, bushes are overdue for trimming. We are not impressed with the manager of this company. This is all about money for him. If you want a clean-up, repair or big yard project, their team are good at that but not for the weekly maintenance.

The first time, I called him twice and each time he promised a bid--but I never got one. The third time, a Spanish-speaking friend called him for me and we finally got a bid. He mentioned in late August that he couldn't get to it until the beginning of October. In the meantime, I sent him some new drawings that simplified the solution. OK. After a couple more calls he submitted a revised bid that looked acceptable. Fast forward to today--the job is complete with another contractor. Beware of companies that are so busy that they are bidding with high prices hoping something sticks. They are SO busy---they don't need your work. I have lost trust in Romero. I cannot judge his work--however if his response before the work is any indication--I would NOT recommend him or expect that he would stand behind his work. Use extreme caution if you choose his services.

I obtained a quote from RP upon seeing the excellent work done by them on two other properties in my neighborhood. I needed extensive work done as my home was built in 2019 and hardly anything had been done with the front since then (just bare spots, a few bushes, a young tree, and some basic ground cover). The work entailed added concrete (driveway extensions, patio extension, property line boundaries, steps leading from sidewalk to patio, four columns, and a patio wall). He also added turf, rocks, weed barrier, and plants. Lastly, he installed a water fountain, added some wall and stair lighting, and re-did some of the irrigation. I've hired different…read morelandscapers and contractors over the years and this is by far the most unprofessional and overall worst experience with one. Everything seemed fine once it was finally finished but they were paid that day so he didn't give me the time of day to solve the install issues after payment that weren't realized until a couple days later. Issues explained below... Pros: - They eventually finished Cons: - Over a 3 week span, they came a total of 2 full days and 2 half days. Always on weekends or afternoons. I've never had a landscaper so lax about finishing a job once it was started. I had to constantly ask when they would return to finish the job and plan my schedule accordingly. Every time I've hired contractors or landscapers they start a job and continue working on it until finished. Not here, they treat you like a side gig. - They installed sod but did not plan the irrigation well and not enough sprinkler heads. Some areas had plenty of coverage so they get swampy while others barely get any water at all and started dying after just a couple days. I had to water those areas with the hose until I got an actual professional to come handle it. Some edge areas were too far gone until the real landscaper came and fixed the sprinklers. - Several sprinkler heads were not configured properly and they didn't give me the adjustment key (which come free with all sprinkler heads) and he brushed me off after I explained that. So I had to order it on Amazon and do it myself AFTER I asked him to fix it (he blamed the hot weather). Sure enough those areas are fine now, had nothing to do with hot weather, it's just that he already got paid and didn't want to fix the errors. - They we're going to leave an entire planter area without water after ripping out the old irrigation and failed to hook it up. I had to intervene and when I did they forgot where the cut pipe was buried because they just covered it up with dirt. Ended up having to trench it out to find it. If I had never said anything they would have just ignored it and that planter would have been left without drip. - Multiple drip line holes were made but no emitters so there was flooding under the mulch hidden for days until I noticed the flooding coming to the surface. Luckily I had some spare emitters to fill in the holes they made. I found these leaks after he blew me off already about the bad sprinkler coverage so I didn't even bother asking them to take care of it. - We had to hide our recycling bin because they threw trash and food garbage in it after the first visit. - They left a bucket of chicken bones on my back patio near their pipes n stuff. Luckily I stopped my dog from getting in it but there were ants all over it before I found it. We left the trash can out for them to use but instead left food waste out for a week in the working area. (Because they didn't return for a week after that). If I didn't go out and hand water, fix the sprayers, intervene about the cut drip line, and fix the drip leaks I would have a half swamp and half dead yard because of the poor job they did. I only went with a different landscaper because my usual guy was booked out for weeks. I should have just waited for him (an actual professional) instead of hiring this guy trying to do some yard work on the side (poorly).
