They accept some Dental Discount Plans. A word of advice, if upper molar extractions are advised by Dr. Chang, I strongly advise you have an Oral Surgeon extract them and not Dr.Chang. I had a bad experience when Dr. Chang extracted one upper molar with local anesthesia. He had a difficult time extracting it due to the angle of the root. The final extraction had a piece of bone fragment attached to the root that perforated my sinus area that he failed to tell me. Unaware that sinus perforations can occur, I noticed the following day whenever I drank fluids, a portion would seep out of my sinus cavity. I called the next day and explained what i was experiencing and the dental assistants were playing dumb and acted like it was some kind of an odd phenomenon. To make a long story short, Dr. Chang didn't admit he had perforated my sinus, but prescribed anti-biotic and pain meds. He referred my case to an oral surgeon and had forwarded x-rays over to the oral surgeons office. What upsets me the most about this particular episode was the lack of Dr. Chang informing me before the extraction of potential complications some patients might have undergoing extractions of their upper back teeth. He failed to mention what a sinus perforation is and the possibility of damage to the sinus bone area of such a surgical extraction. In short, Dr.Chang is great for having a cavity filled, or some crown work, etc. but it's best that you refuse molar extractions by Dr. Chang and politely ask for a referral of an experienced oral surgeon for this type of surgical extraction, because if not done properly -this type of extraction can jeopardize your health and be a costly operation to surgically mend and repair a sinus perforation. read more

Dr. Chang is the best dentist I have EVER been to! I used to dread going to the dentist. He goes out of his way to make it as painless as it can be which makes you feel super comfortable. His staff are amazing as well. Mindy and Benita are so friendly and helpful. He also has someone dedicated to insurance questions and pre authorizations and doesn't push you to get unnecessary work done. I highly recommend him to my family, friends and coworkers. I now look forward to going to the dentist here because I know I am getting the best care. They even call you the next day after treatment to see how you're doing! I am new to the area and called this office to ask if they took my insurance, in which they replied "yes." I filled out the new patient papers well in advanced to include my insurance information. I called multiple times to confirm my appointments and try to schedule both on the same day. I went to my appointments and the dental staff was great. It wasn't until I received the EOB from my insurance company that I was made aware they were out of network. I called the office and told them I called well in advance and asked if they took my insurance. The girl on the phone told me that they do take my insurance but that it was "out of network." Funny how they failed to mention that the first time around, knowing damn well what I was asking. I have family members who work at doctors offices, specifically dealing with insurance, and am aware of the shady things many doctors do pad the bills to the insurance companies. But I guess they aren't above lying to the patients. read more

I'm happy that Dr. Chang's office was able to help me when I was in desperate need on a month long visit to the area. They were able to fit me in very quickly and I was very impressed and grateful for that. Additionally Andrea at the front office was wonderful. I was quite disappointed by the treatment that I got from Dr. Chang and his assistant, however. He is very good at what he does but I feel that he needs to be a little bit more respectful of his patients desires. After all the teeth he is examining are my teeth, not his. When I chose to get a root canal instead of extracting the tooth in question as he had recommended, I felt that him and his assistant became extremely judgmental of me and this upset me and made me not want to return. They were very standoffish and condescending. He also at this point started telling me differing things which was odd. First he told me that I would need a crown on the tooth, then that I couldn't get a crown on the tooth, and then later he told me that I could but we just didn't have time. I can tell that he is a great dentist and has a great office, but it's clear that he needs to improve in this area. I'm extremely grateful for their help but just wish they would have been nicer people. Again, Andrea was great. And I do think Dr. Chang is a good dentist. I usually dread going to the dentist. Considering I had braces for 4 years, it's pretty acceptable! I hadn't gone in a while and felt a hole in my tooth that freaked me out so I called Dr. Chang's office. I was nervous because I've had some nightmare dental experiences but Dr. Chang and his staff made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. Andrea at the front was awesome as soon as I called the office to when I walked out the door. Having to find a new barber, doctor, dentist, dog groomer, etc when moving is really the pits. I loved my dentist in New York and was not looking forward to having to find another one. Dr. Chang's office made an otherwise irritating task very easy. There was no wait time to mention, office was clean & tidy, and a pleasant staff throughout. The only criticism is that the air freshener in the waiting area was extremely strong and thus unpleasant to breathe but other than that, I'd say this was just about as easy and trouble free as it gets with a dentist visit. read more

I feel so lucky to have found Dr. Chang during this Covid crisis. I only searched for a dentist out of desperation because of the pain in my mouth. Everybody in the office is friendly, helpful, and cautious as they guard against Covid germs. Dr. Chang is so kind. He let me know I have been clenching my teeth which is causing much of my pain. He told me I needed a mouth guard and also recommended a TMJ specialist. He fixed a tooth that had lost the filling a couple of yrs ago. Being afraid of dentistry in general, caused me to delay necessary dental work. The pain in that tooth is finally gone. I will be returning to see Dr. Chang for additional work in August. I am less afraid of dentistry at this point. Yesterday was my 2nd visit. I remain Covid free. Such a nice staff. read more

Everyone in the office was amazing! Had a very warm and welcoming reception upon entering the office. They were friendly, comforting, and made the visit stress free. I felt like i was the only patient there during my appointment. Wait times were non existent and i felt no pressure when reviewing the medical options at the end. Dr. Cheng was straight forward about which procedures were a priority for me and why and which ones could wait. I live in Indio and drive out to Palm Springs for this office. After a great deal of Internet research, my wife and I decided on Gerald Chang as our dentist. After my visit today, I am sure we made the right choice. Andrea warmly greeted me with the necessary paperwork. After my initial x-rays, Dr. Chang did a thorough job reviewing the x-rays and comparing them to the last ones from my previous dentist. I was extremely happy with my visit to Dr. Chang. Every employee I came in contact with was friendly, competent and truly seemed to enjoy their job. Dr. Chang was very pleasant and did not try to sell me treatments I didn't need or use scare tactics. I value his experience and trust his integrity. Fortunately I have good teeth and no dental problems but that didn't stop my previous dentist from trying to tell me that my fillings were cracking and needed to be replaced which he said was not true. I recently found the best dentist in Palm Springs, Dr. Gerald Chang. Dr. Chang and his entire staff are not only professional, but they are also very caring and kind people. Dr. Chang saw me this morning on an emergency visit. He did a thorough exam and quickly relieved my worries. I had expected the worst prognosis, but Dr. Chang quickly identified the problem which is not as serious as I had feared and he has me on a treatment which should quickly heal my inflamed gums.
