Back in 2018 I gave Capital Collision a glowing five-star review. This time around I'm giving three - five stars for the finished work and two for the customer service. Let me say up front that I WILL take my car to Capital if I ever need their services again, without hesitation. As with my previous experience, the work done was impeccable. Unlike my previous experience, the customer experience was disappointing. I brought my car in to have hail damage repaired from a storm in March. I knew a lot of cars were affected and wanted to wait until after the mad rush for repairs. I waited until May before I called and received assurances that there would be no delays. If they'd told me things were still hectic I would have waited. Given that I have no reason to cut them any slack on account of the storm. The frustration began before I even brought the car in. I was advised to call their branch location (where all hail repairs were being done) to ask about any possible delays, but was told to drop the car off at the Rutland location I'd originally contacted. That wouldn't be the first time one of the branches told me to call the other, and this would prove to be an omen. When I dropped the car off I dealt with a rep who took my information and insurance paperwork. At some point she seemed to turn her attention elsewhere, and I eventually asked what was left to be done. "That's everything" she replied. I pointed out that I hadn't been asked for my key yet, and handed it to her, having kept my ride waiting outside longer than needed be. Most of my communication came through my insurance company, who called me no less than four times with updates. It seemed they had a sense that things were taking a bit too long. On two of those calls I was told they'd tried to contact the shop but had been unable to get an update. Not good. At one point I called for an update and was advised "we've got 40 or 50 cars over here," which only served to rub salt in the wound left by the empty initial assurances. We were closing in on a full month of time in the shop when I got a call that they would try to have the car done the next day, ahead of the Memorial Day weekend. That day I called and confirmed it would be ready at 5:00 p.m. only to show up and be told it would be another hour or so. I was able to ride around with the person who'd given me a ride and spend the last while sitting on the pavement outside the shop. Not a big deal, but a final frustration to add on top of all the others. Well, not quite the final frustration. I pulled out my checkbook to pay my insurance deductible and was informed they don't take checks, only credit and debit cards. Yes, I had a card, but if I hadn't I would have been beyond furious, and left to find a ride home, empty-handed. If my deductible payment had been much higher it would have exceeded the daily limit for my debit card. Just not cool. After those last-minute hassles I didn't bother inspecting the car before I took delivery. I was confident I didn't have to. And sure enough, when I walked out I found the car was immaculate. They'd even detailed the inside. It's hard to stay mad when you get work done so well, but my customer experience was so much better on my previous repair. Would I recommend them? Yes. Am I a bit disappointed and pissed off? Also yes. Make of that what you will. read more

I'm glad the truck is finally fixed after having been there for five months, however we have no confidence in the work done because we have had lies from the Gerber folks the whole time. We were told that they were going to QC, our vehicle much more than they usually do to ensure we never had to bring it back or any warranty issues. As soon as we got there to pick up the truck, my husband -who is not an auto guy- noticed that there was a part that was not replaced. Upon leaving we noticed that the sensors were not working and that we had two giant screws in one of our tires that were almost new. We went back and they told us that in fact, there was a short in one of the wires and that they would buy us a new tire as the screws came from their shop. When we went back to pick up the truck after they said it was fixed and that they had replaced the tire with a brand new one. We noticed when we got home that the tire was not at all knew it wasn't even a new used tire. It was the exact same tire with a poorly patched Job that they had just flipped backward to hide it leaving us in a hazardous state. We got in contact with the tire shop they told us they had used to buy the new tire and they said that they did have a tire, but that Gerber never brought the truck to have it put on. We are currently driving to have the tire replaced now. It has been a stream of lies and delays, and our ability to trust that they did quality work has been completely shattered. I would not recommend Gerber to anyone, nor would I ever use them again. read more

They have the worst customer service & it's almost impossible to ever get through and speak to someone since their phone line is always busy. My car was in their shop for over a month! I had to call to check on status because apparently these folks are "so busy." The entire month, I received ONE call and it's because I called several times that day to ask about my vehicle status. A tow was arranged and away it went. A few days later I called the insurance company in which they seemed to have a quote that was worth more than the vehicle, but then said the shop wasn't quite finished. There seemed to be some disconnect between the shop/adjustor and the insurance company. I am unsure of who's fault this is and really don't care. The shop did what was needed and was accommodating when I was told my vehicle was a total loss and I had to go get anything left in it. My neighbor backed into my car so I had to get my door replaced. I noticed the great reviews when looking for a body shop to get it fixed, I will go ahead and add another 5 stars. This seems like a family owned business and their customer service is beyond anything I expected. They offered to give me a ride to enterprise since they were taking awhile, texted updates, and was very easy to work around my schedule. They went above and beyond on the repairs and tweaked a few things such as paint chips from rocks while my car was in there. Absolutely stellar, both in terms of performance and customer service. They worked with my insurance from the beginning so I didn't have to. The body work they performed on my car was excellent, and they even cleaned out and vacuumed my car. During the detailing, a small FM transmitter that I had in the cigarette lighter went missing (as I say, it was very small and would have been very easy to misplace, I don't think anything untoward happened, they had to move a lot of stuff around to do the detailing). Great shop. In my seemingly never ending dumbass-ery I accidentally dropped an Igloo cooler onto my 2 week old 2014 Silverado (it still had dealer plates on it!) when I was trying to grab it from a top shelf in my garage. It put about a 2" diameter and fairly deep dent in my fender next to the hood. I was quoted over $600 at another shop but they quoted the job for much less for me. When I got the truck back the dent was vanished, the paint matched perfectly and the fender looked like new. Carlos did my work and was masterful. I would say try to avoid this shop! I had the misfortune of working with them by a referral from a driver who managed to smash my car up parking his. It's a bad enough experience that was made much worse by my experience here. They did a quick job of external damage - and made it seem like they had a remote mechanic to properly assess internal damage. This is where the nightmare began that forced me to buy a new car this year. If my internal damage was properly assessed - the right call would have most likely been a total, because of impact the engine (as my car was backed in), but this shop spoke nothing of the clear damage done. I was very new to Austin, so had to rely on this guy's insurance contacts until eventually I got a referral. I think it took half a dozen calls with these guys and two test drives (one which probably further damaged my car, requesting I drive 50 MPH+ over a much too large dip in the road), where the guy responsible for listening for the end user issues I noticed missing the output that happened almost immediately with small talk distracting him. There was one person on staff that seemed to care, who eventually admitted internal damage was out of their wheel house. So it was sent to a dealer for more test drives and miles on my damaged engine. I finally got a great referral from a co-worker. That mechanic identified the issues within an hour, walking me through everything and the steps we would take to further assess some additional damage he was concerned about. The damage inflicted on my car was so bad - that mechanic urged me to get rid of the car. And because of the body work done, and leading questions from the insurer of this idiot driver - there was the required evidence anymore for the insurer to cover the damage their driver inflicted. So I ended up having to pay $350 to register my car with the State of Texas. This shop participated in something awful. And these resources big companies refer all too frequently often do. It's a shame. Karma is a circle though, and I would just say - I hope you already know of a better place, if not truly take the time to get solid referrals in this area. Do all you can to avoid this place, just not good business. Not to mention they didn't even match my paint exactly with repairs and got primer spots all throughout my vehicle. Not clean of attentive work even if quick, and you can't expect them to fully assess the damage on your car properly, which goes against the purpose of collision repair. I can only hope you never have the experience I did - with them or anyone else. Consumer beware!! read more

So I got a minor scratch/chip on my 2015 Honda Accord last week and needed it fixed ASAP! I got 4 estimates (Round Collision, Continental Collision Center, Austin Capital Collision and Masters Auto Craft) RRC & CCC are both affiliated with several dealerships across Austin. Progressive recommended ACC & MAC because they both have a great reputation with their customers and are very well known in their respective industry. After obtaining 4 estimates, ACC had the best price and only needed 2 full days for the repair. I got my Car back yesterday and the work they did was fantastic. No sign of over spray, no faded paint spots and the bumper was perfectly aligned like it was never taken off. Carlos and his colleagues did a great job and were very professional.
