This place is tucked away from the busy North Lamar street. It's a family owned place. I've taken my Lexus here to get new brakes based on a referral and saved 60% versus when i went to get the rear brakes at the Lexus dealership. Talk about an arm and a leg at the dealership! They also told me what will need to be updated/repaired in the future based on what they saw during the brake installation. So then when my neighbor took off my bumper a few weeks later, I knew exactly who I wanted to go to in order to have the body work done. It took about a week to get a new bumper, lights, paint job done, which is amazing considering this accident happened over Thanksgiving (my neighbor was apologetic and i'm grateful he left a note). I'll walk towards my car and admire how it glitters and shines in the sun. The job was impeccable, the team at the shop were communicative and supported me throughout this entire process with insurance by doing all the communicating. So I remembered my parents shop and took a shot because I had a very expensive situation where my turbo on my Hyundai Genesis was misfiring causing black smoke to come from my exhaust pipe. Here is my Experience with them this week Aug 3rd. I brought in my vehicle for an over heating issue. Was met by Mr Tao. When aksed if he works on my car brand (not many places would fix my car brand), he was offended. I apologized, explained the issues and then went home. Aug 4th After several calls i finally got a call back asking what was the issue with the vehicle. Which is weird considering i just explained that the day before. I explained the issue again and was given a quote for a oil change and a coolant flush. Aug 5th The following day i called in to check on the car and couldnt get a hold of anyone. Aug 6th After multiple phone attempts, i used a different number to call and someone answered after several tries. I was told that he ( assuming he is the owner???) Is under quarantine for covid and didnt know what is the condition of the vehicle, and that he would give me a discount for the work done. Today aug 7th i went and pick up the Vehicle, and was greeted by a technician with a pissed off attitude. Here is the kicker, they added oil to the vehicle and declined to do any other works. My wife had a small fender accident. T&T gave us an estimate that was between 20-40% cheaper than the 2 other estimates we got. They were very friendly. The work looks great. And they told me the job would take 3 days and this was over the weekend of Christmas and they called the Monday afterwards to let me know if was all done exactly on time. This never happens. This auto repair looks little on the outside but once you walk inside it opens up and becomes much bigger like the Tartus. I have taken several of my vehicles here and recommended Tao to many of my friends. His prices blow everybody away because they are fair. I know what I'm saying be cause for 3 years in the past that I lived in Austin I've dealt with too many so called " auto repair shops". Most of them try to rip you off, not do their job for 100% and make you come back for more repairs. I've owned few different cars and unfortunately each of them had problems and every time I came to T&T I was completely satisfied. Never had to come back or complain about anything. Tien and Tao and the rest of the crew saved me alot of money, and never misdiagnosed any of my cars. Don't know how, but they always had or ordered new/used parts for prices that all other shops couldn't get for me. Also their hourly labor rate are way less than what I think they deserve. Be cause how good they do and how quick they do should cost much more. Highly recommend!!!! Don't waste your time looking for the best auto repair place in Austin. Was referred to Tao by a co-worker years ago. Now everybody in our office uses him. Very good and the best part is honest. I took my Jeep to him this week not knowing what the problem was. The check engine light was on. He could have charged me hundreds of dollars but only charged me $155. We take all our vehicles to him and we have a bunch of them. I had just moved to Austin and was looking for a good Auto Shop, as my car had broken it's AC system. I live closer to downtown and all the shops down there are very expensive, even costing to diagnose, which is totally understandable. However, my experience with T&T is awesome! Honestly, I found them by knowing that N Lamar was the asian part of town and that they had a lot of auto service shops along the road, so I just drove till I found one. They diagnosed for free and told me my problem. They had fair, honest pricing, as I have an auto friend in CA and they told me that with parts & labor, they were fairly priced. They are fast & trustworthy & if anything else goes wrong with your car, they're glad to help you out. (I'm a single female & this stuff stresses me out) There's no nickel and diming here. They have full service: oil changes, inspection, glass/windshield repair, any funny noises (my catalytic converter broke), AC compressor, and I'm sure anything else regarding car stuff. Mr. Tao won't rip you off! Honest and let me bring in my own parts for my VW Passat that needed both catalytic Converters changed out.
