A year or so ago, we were referred here by our neighbor's insurance carrier when he caused some minor damage. They were quick and efficient then. Today, even better, if that's possible. The right rear taillight assembly had been replaced in the previous repair work. A local repair shop quoted $350+ to replace it. Then I remembered this was the side that got replaced last year. I called Gerber, they said "yes, you are covered under warranty. We can get one tomorrow. When can you come in?" I showed up early, they took the car inside, and I sat down to wait. I brought my car in to get my bumper fixed & when I received my car back my AC wasn't working. we immediately call them within 15 minutes of picking up the car. They told us to bring it back up there which we did. They advised us that it was too much coolant. we advised them that before we dropped our car off over a week ago the AC was working fine and we didn't have any issues. They will not hold themselves liable for breaking out ac. I understand the bumper is nowhere near the ac unit however it's not fair for me to spend almost 5k & to have to pay additional money to have something fixed that was never broken. Do not use this shop. The people in the office (Kevin) have no clue what is going on when asking simple question. I had to tel them three times where to get our wheels and he never related this to the part girl. After I blew my top, the manager decided they would not finish or work on my car and to find a different shop. I had towed to Tom Bush. Then I get a call from Geico stating the front of the car was removed without authorization. There was no damage to the front on the side. Now, Geico will not cover the cost to reassemble what Gerber Collision took apart. This shop is clueless, the manager has no idea what his people are doing. Very poor communication throughout the entire one month process. I was given a repair window of two weeks. My mother was dying on hospice in Texas during this time and I desperately needed to go visit her. I could never get a accurate estimated pick up date from my advisor. Each time I called they said it would be one more business day then one more business day then one more business day. That went on for days. Because I never knew when I was expected I was basically on standby and I could not take the rental vehicle out of state. It was a complete waste of my time. Due to limited/ lack of communication and inaccurate repair time estimates, not only did I not go see her I also received a bill from Hertz car rental for one day of a car rental because it was not communicated to me when to drop the car off to pick up my vehicle. I spoke with the manager about this and thought everything had been resolved but tonight I opened up a bill from Hertz rental. This was from several months ago. Again another communication issue. I tired to get someone to work with me and provide me a quote. The first day I came they said they were too busy. I was little frustrated but I understood. I made an appointment and came back the next day. After waiting 30 minutes, I was told that they had meeting and were running behind. Not too big of a deal but it doesn't say much out their customer service. Not a good experience. I have received quotes from 3 other shops that were happy to take my money. So, unfortunately I had to use Gerber to repair my rear bumper after being rear-ended in Gainesville. I went through the other person's insurance, and they set me up at Gerber. Service is phenomenal from start to finish. Even though I was not paying for the repair whatsoever, they went over the estimate regardless, so that I'd know what is being done to my car and how long it would take. The damage wasn't too bad, so they were able to repair it. When I got my car back, they went in detail again and pointed out areas of the bumper that was fixed and painted. They did an excellent job; you couldn't tell that it was it was original bumper that had damage. It looked like a brand new bumper and it blended well with my car despite its age of 13 years. When I returned my rental, one of the gentlemen from Gerber even came to pick me up and bring me back to my car. I received detailed paperwork of what was done. The best part is the lifetime warranty, such as the paint start to chip or something in the area that was repaired. The lobby area is small but has a few chairs for you to sit and wait for your rental service to come get you. They even have free water and coffee available while you're waiting. God forbid, if I get into another fender, at least I know where I'll bring my car. read more

Poor customer service and over scopes damage. I took my new Volvo to this location with a minor dent to fender. I had an appointment which they lost and had to wait another 30 minutes because they can't estimate in the (light) rain. They over scope by $300 which included exaggerated time to R/I undamaged parts. I was paying out of pocket but the estimator was trying to get me to go through insurance. I took it somewhere else and had the same work done at the right price and happy with the result. As an insurance claim professional I'm surprised this show would be considered a preferred shop. If paying out of pocket you can get top quality work somewhere else. read more

Would give them 0 stars but that is not an option. Received an estimate for work to be done on my mother's car and was told I would receive a call on Monday to schedule a date for the work to be done. Did not receive a call so I call them Wednesday. Was told the person who I needed to talk to was at lunch and would call me back when she returned....she must still be at lunch... Called again the following week, since I did not receive a call back, and once again person was busy and "he" would call me back.... Again...no return call. This happened again 2 more times. 4 weeks now... called again. Was told they called my mother on July 12 and she said to cancel. My mother was never called and my name and # was given as the contact. Was told again that I would receive a return call when person got off the phone with an insurance company. Guess what?...no return call. Guess she is still on the phone with the insurance company. Went to Mandarin Collision which is literally less then 1/2 mile away from Gerber, received an estimate, a bit less than Gerber's estimate, and car is being dropped off on Monday and will be ready by the end of the week. Employees at Mandarin Collision were very personable and friendly...and their Yelp reviews are 4.9. Should have read Yelp's reviews before wasting our time going to Gerber. Their customer service is non- existent and if I don't receive good customer service for an estimate, why would I take a car there to be worked on?..... read more

Thoroughly unimpressed. When you walk in, several staff are sitting in view, yet they don't make eye contact or acknowledge customers, even when the receptionist is out. They should really rethink the office set up because if those guys aren't going to greet customers, they shouldn't be in plain view. Ignoring folks isn't a great way to get off on the right foot. But it's not just the poor customer service. My husband's car was scheduled to be done by the end of the week. I get a call saying it won't be until Monday. When I push back, I'm told that it can be ready on Saturday but "usually people are busy on the weekend" so it's easier to pick up on Monday. What? We work during the week so no, Monday isn't easier. Seemed like a really week excuse to cover the attempt to delay delivery. When we show up on Saturday, the damage repair on the door looks fine. But the windshield isn't fixed. When we dropped off the car, I was in on the whole conversation with the guy about filing an extra claim and scraping the military ID off the windshield. But when we bring it up, he denies that the windshield was ever scheduled to be repaired. Not an apology for forgetting, a flat out denial. But of course they still want our business for that repair. Not going to happen. You had the vehicle all week and couldn't get it done, why would we give you our continued business? So two stars because the repair work looked fine, but nothing more because of poor customer service, attempted delay of the delivery, and failure to complete the project as discussed. read more

Gerber...You're an A-1 Superior operation! Today I got my car back, after an elderly man drove into the driver side door at a grocery store. My mood wasn't the best after dealing with all that is required after an accident. I was referred to the Philips Hwy. location because they had availability to work on the damages sooner than other locations (running 8 weeks out :O(. Kate was GREAT! She was professional, personable and pleasant to work with. She got my car in the shop and under 2 weeks later I'm back in my baby buzzing down the highway. All thanks to the stellar craftsmanship performed on my door and window!! Thanks for that Mike Winters! I didn't get the pleasure of meeting Mike,but know he's busy, busy, busy working on other cars for soon to be satisfied car owners. Can I give zero stars??? This place is HORRIBLE. Terrible customer service. I made an appointment over a week ago and they didn't write it down so they had no idea who I was when I showed up to drop my car off. It turned into an hour process just to drop the car off. Over the phone they told me the process would take 20 mins. In person, they laughed at me and said it would be at least a few days. Since they lied over the phone, it took forever for me to get a rental car since I wasn't prepared to need one. They were so disorganized that even after I dropped my car off, they were calling me to schedule an appointment because they STILL didn't have me in their system. Over a week later, I get a text saying that my car is ready. I call them to confirm and spoke with two people on the phone- neither of them could do their job. Kevin told me he couldn't help me because they had transferred my car to another location, and said that I needed to call the other location for an update and tell them to transfer my car. How is that MY job and not THEIRS?? If I dropped my car off at that location I should've been able to get an update from that location. Instead they were snarky, very unhelpful, and then gave me the wrong phone number to dial for their other location. It took six representatives to confirm that my car was ready for pickup. They even admitted that their messaging system isn't accurate and that I could've received that text in error. So disorganized. Needless to say, I will NEVER go back here and I will be telling everyone to never use their service. Very disgusted by the unfriendly attitudes and lack of respect for customers. They made what should've been an easy and smooth process very difficult and inconvenient. In all my experience with repair shops, I've never experienced anything as ridiculous as this. read more

This is a recommended shop via my insurance company. I call to schedule an estimate 7-10 days after a fender bender. Tell them my insurance, claim number and information, and set the appt up for the next day. I walk in for my appt and I am greeted by no one (even though the office was full of staff), I finally am called over by a receptionist who after 5 min tells me that they don't have the information from my insurance company regarding the claim. I call my claim agent to check - she sent it. They tell me they didn't set my an appt with the man who handles my specific insurance's claims - even though when I called yesterday I told them which insurance and gave my claim number. The receptionist tells me she is just filling in for someone and she has no idea what's she's doing. While I'm waiting I hear a woman take a phone call from someone who is calling to check on the progress of their repair. She puts the call on hold and yells across the room to another woman who is annoyed and frustratedly tell her she knows nothing about that car. The woman on the phone then tells her the car has been here for over 2 weeks. Wow, they can't even keep anything straight and what great customer service they have. They can't fit me in for an estimate with the correct person so a woman says she'll take pictures and the man will make the estimate based off that and send it to my insurance. Surprise. Nearly 10 days later they still didn't send my insurance company or myself anything. When my claims agent calls them about it they said oh it was ready a week ago "someone must have forgot to press send on the computer." Right.... When they do send it through (2 more days later) they wrote it as if I wasn't using my insurance, ugh. I told my insurance company I don't want anything to do with Gerber Collision and I certainly don't want them touching my car. Nearly 2 weeks just for an estimate is completely outrageous. I'm from out of town and I had a windshield trim issue. I called Gerber at this location and spoke to a wonderful gentleman named Scott. He told me to come in and ask for him and he would look at it. I went there and like advertised SCOTT looked at my trim on my Honda Pilot . It 10 minutes I was out the door and SCOTT said there would be no charge. The wheel stop in a parking space pulled my front bumper partially off when backing out of parking space. I took it to Mandarin Collision Center on the way home to get an estimate to have to reattached properly, when I was quoted $180. I asked for a written estimate, but I was told it would be even more if he had to write it up, as if his original quote would be less. Feeling as though this was too much, I immediately took my car down the street to Gerber Collision & Glass, and Curtis did a professional quote, photos and all, and gave me an written estimate of $118, which included tax. Obviously, I chose Gerber Collision & Glass to do the repair. They only needed to uninstall, then reinstall the front bumper, which took less than 20 minutes. They did a great job, and to my surprise, they did it without charging me at all for the repair. I ended up paying $0 for the repair to my front bumper. This is a review for Gerber Collision 9417 Phillips Hwy, Jacksonville. Horrible front desk help!! Lacking professionalism and personality to say the least. Ron and Shelby are their names and they are rude and not helpful at all. When I walked in I was not acknowledged and when I walked up to the desk informing them I was there for an accident repair quote they acted like I was bothing them and then they told me they were not expecting me (after my insurance company had spoken to Shelby the day before and arranged for estimate appointment). There are plenty of other repair shops where the customer is respected and greeted with a friendly, helpful employees--don't go here and put yourself through this terrible treament. The lack of communication with the employees and updates on your ordered car parts or lenght of time of your repair are absent. People listen, you're already probably upset that your car is damaged, you may have out of pocket expenses, this may put a crimp in your schedule or daily routine and can be a stressful situation--you need to go where a car repair facility understands this--AND THIS IS NOT THE PLACE--THEY DON'T CARE AND IT SHOWS STARTING WITH THE FRONT DESK EMPLOYEES. I will never recommend this establishment to anyone and will continue to write my review on google and yahoo. UPDATE 3/03/2016--After I reported my complaint to the Manager Scott he could not have been nicer and accomodating to me, I greatly appreciate the personal attention that he gave to my situation. My vehicle repairs were excellent and my Jeep looks wonderful. I want to thank Scott the Manager and the body shop repairmen for a wonderful job and for being great employees.
