They had my car longer than expected which was fine but then they kept telling it was ready so I would start heading there only to be told over the phone after I called them it was not ready. After that they kept saying they would call me with updates but I got none. Then they started avoiding my calls. The constant disrespect and lying was a slap in the face since I never yelled or argued. read more

UPDATE: Some bot or idiot is replying to these reviews. Keep in mind, they do nothing. Someone from Gerber Corporate left me a voicemail, and I called him back. Guess what, I left him a voicemail, and did not get a call back. They really don't care, and when they screw up, they screw up so hard it cannot be fixed. I brought my car here because it was broken into, and someone attempted to steal it. I needed the steering column repaired, needed a window replaced. My car is one of the Hyundai/Kia vehicles which are commonly targeted by thieves. While I am understanding that the parts to fix this issue are difficult to acquire, Gerber could not have done a worse job planning, scheduling or communicating. The break in occurred on 11/19/22. On 11/30, I brought the car to Gerber for an inspection. The problem is, they did not inspect the vehicle. They simply looked at it, and validated that it was indeed damaged. At this point, Gerber did not know the extent of the damage, and did not know what the repair would entail. No parts were ordered at this time. The only thing I was told was that they couldn't get to my car until 12/19. So, because of this communication, at this time my wife and I expected that Gerber would be repairing my vehicle on 12/19. I thought maybe it would take 2 or 3 days max. I expected it to be finished that week. The reason I thought that was because I was told "we'll get it started on 12/19" I had no reason to expect that I was entering into a long term repair arrangement. Towards the end of the day on 12/19, I called in. I said: "Hi, I do not want to rush you, I just need to make arrangements. Will my vehicle be fixed today, or will it run into tomorrow" The receptionist replied "Wait ... you brought your car in today, and you want it to be done today?" That is a rude thing to say to a customer. I eventually talked to a manager, who explained that they ordered the parts that day, 12/19, and they have no way of knowing when the parts will arrive, and have no way of knowing when repairs will be complete. My response was that this was unacceptable. This is not what we planned for, and this is not what I was told. The general manager's response was "well if you have a problem, come and get your car, take it elsewhere" This is also a rude thing to say to a customer, and an unproductive comment. On 1/5, I called back and asked for a status update. I was told that the car had been towed to a dealership, because Gerber is not capable of performing the necessary repairs. This is information that they should have known back on 11/30 when they initially inspected the vehicle. Unfortunately they did not perform an inspection at that time, they just checked to make sure the vehicle was actually damaged, as if I might have been lying. The manager told me that it was prohibitively expensive for him to perform inspections like that prior to the repair start date. I do not believe him, that sounds like a poor excuse. on 1/12 I called back for an other update. I was told that all the parts for my car are on backorder from the dealership, and there is no ETA. An estimator asked me if I would like to have them order the window glass from an after market source, install it, and then I could drive my car with a broken steering column (I would have to start it with a pair of plyers, think "hot-wired car") I said yes, this is what I want. The problem is, Gerber could have offered this weeks ago. Why didn't they check on parts availability prior to this? Why was this never an option until 6 weeks into the repair process? I had various follow up calls before the vehicle was eventually fixed and returned to us on 2/7. The funniest was on 2/4, when Gerber just stopped returning my calls. I came into their office, and asked for an update, and explained my woes. I told the estimator I was speaking to that I will call corporate on Monday. Miraculously this threat worked, and on Monday, I received a callback. I was told everything was being fixed that day. Strange how that works. I am understanding to supply chain problems. I understand that these vehicle break-ins are a nationwide problem right now, and the parts to remediate this are difficult to come by. None of this is an excuse for the poor communication, and the lack of planning. Steer clear of this shop, and its rude, incompetent manager. read more

When I arrived she greeted me as though we had know each other for a while. Very friendly and made me feel very comfortable. Jake took the time to thoroughly go over the damage ( I hit a deer on the highway), outlined the repairs needed and estimated time to complete the repairs. He also made it a point to check in with me every couple of days to provide timely updates. If I could give a higher star review, I would. My husband and I have used Gerber twice, once for each of our vehicles. Both times we have been extremely pleased with the prompt communication, regular status updates (by both texts and phone calls), and the overall quality of work. Our first experience was with my husband's car, after a deer thought it would be a fantastic idea to jump in front of him on North Avenue on his way home from work one night. Ouch. We have State Farm and so they "wreck"ommended we use Gerber to fix the damage. From start to finish, it took about two weeks (part ordering and shipping takes forever), insurance covered every penny (about 8 g's or so) and the ol' gal came home looking better than ever. My husband would receive text updates stating "hello (name), your car misses you but don't worry, it's being taken great care of" which I found amusing. The second experience was with my car. Five days after my birthday, some driver decided to attempt a left-hand turn as we approached 75th street. Yeah, no bueno. My poor gal took a mighty beating cosmetically but escaped with no unibody damage and very little mechanical damage. State Farm and Gerber worked very quickly to get the ball rolling with everything, and I was quoted about a 3 week completion time. Jason was the estimator and he was very thorough in explaining the work that needed to be done. I received text updates with estimate totals as well as phone calls with detailed explanation of the parts needed/ordered, what to expect with every step of the process, and an estimated time frame for completion which was spot on (they ended up finishing two days early). I took my car here to have front end work done. The work was good, I'm satisfied with the results. Timing was an issue. They had difficulty getting parts, so the car wasn't ready when expected. I expected 10 days, it took 5 weeks because they couldn't get parts due to supply chain issues. In hindsight I should have realized that was a potential issue, but it would have helped to better manage my expectations had they told me up front. I would have preferred to keep the car (which was drivable) until they were ready to do the work. I understand it's not predictable and they can't always know in advance what parts might be harder to get. Communication is a bigger issue. Throughout the process, they rarely kept a commitment to call me when they said they would. I routinely had to call them to get status, which was frustrating. I've worked with this location multiple times in the past and have always been satisfied with their work. They came in just a small amount over budget. The manager Rick made some accommodations because of the timing issue, and that was appreciated. All-in-all I'd use them again. read more

This will be the second time I've taken my vehicles to Gerber. The first was to fix the back of my Toyola Corolla after someone hit the car. The work was done in a timely manner, reasonably priced and the owner was courteous and answered all of my questions. It is now 4 years later and the repair still looks great. Now I am taking my 2019 F350 SD for roof and side repairs after a "meeting" with my fifth wheel. My husband spoke to Rick and received a thorough explanation of what repairs needed to be done, how long it would take and the cost of the repair. He went over and beyond as my husband is scheduled for major surgery in one month and Rick was able to get my truck in for repairs in a timely manner. This place sucks period. A year after my repair the clearcoat is fading and I know they used aftermarket parts cause they told me they did... on a brand new car that had 2200 miles on it. I can still see a dent in the left fender by the windshield... I do this work for a living and they DO NOT USE HIGH SOLIDS CLEAR. if they did it wouldnt have faded so quickly. The painter at this location flat out sucks and the after market bumper has DA marks in it underneath the fog lamp bezels...not to mention the clear was sprayed so shitty it looks very dry on lower front bumper. I shouldve done the work myself . You guys ordered aftermarket parts after my insurance told you guys they wanted OEM. Bunch cons here... I will never do business with you again.... I will instead fix the things you said you did fix and order a new bumper and paint it myself. You should keep your techs off the dope . read more

I don't even want to give them 1star. But that is the lowest. We have a small but significant scratch from a restaurant patio umbrella hitting our car. That company took responsibility and we needed an estimate for repair. So we try Gerber first. So it's Saturday at 11:45 they close at noon. But it's an estimate, so quick thing right?! No. No way.. "Our estimates take 30 min minimum". Umm this isn't a collision thing it's a scratch. "No, come back Monday" I should mention that the postal truck was parked by the door and the two people were chatting away and I had to interrupt them just to find out that they didn't want my business. The new manager, Ron Noble personally met me and listened to what happened during my second experience at Gerber. He immediately inspected my vehicle and made an appointment. Today I picked up my car and everything that I pointed out had been fixed. They even detailed my car. Got into a non major accident on October 19, 2021 a few days later got an appointment booked for an estimate, unfortunately had to wait until November 5th to actually get work done on the car. Repairs were supposed to be done 3 weeks later on November 26th and have been dragged on an extra 3 weeks and counting. The whole experience of my car repair was truly wonderful! There are 4 people to be thankful for Stephanie, Christine, Jason and Luis! My insurance company recommended this location! I'm so satisfied with place! I interacted with Stephanie first who helped explain the process. Jason was great at telling me his plan for my car repair. Stephanie then went about her job so well as updating my car rental cause I had reserved the car Too early since my Car would need to be repaired later in the week. My car was dropped off and Stephanie kept me company while I wanted for enterprise to arrive with my rental car! Stephanie truly was a joy at 7:30 in the morning! When my car was repaired I came to pick the car up and I noticed one little repair hadn't been finished and right then and there they fixed the issue, while I waited! Luis fixed the issue that hadn't been finished. Christine also was well versed on the phone calls I received from her! One dark night, an ignorant moron decided it would be a good idea to smash my driver back left window in. A minor setback in my night, I knew it couldn't been that painful to get fixed. Gerber proved me right. First, I quoted Safelite Glass. Well, sorry guys, but there was no way I was paying $340 dollars for one power window. So, I looked up a quote for Gerber. A whopping $150 dollars?! Yes, please! I submitted my quote and called the next morning for installation. When I called the next morning, they were able to put in an appointment for me on 9/12/14 (the next day) and they would send a mobile unit to install IN MY PARKING LOT! I knew this had to be too good to be true. Well, the quote I had mentioned in my phone conversation jumped up to $177 because I mistakenly put a 2007 Focus instead of a 2008. I mentioned that I had been quoted $150, but the lady stated I mistaken the year on the car. She knocked my bill down to $173. Yes, not that big of a difference, but was still thoughtful. So, fast forward to 9/12 at 7:55am. I wake up, I missed a call, and it was my Gerber guy confirming my appointment and my address. I call him back, miss him, and leave him a message with my address. I fall asleep. I wake up 30 minutes later and the guy is already working on my car because my boyfriend gave him the keys. 9:15 rolls around, the guy is completely done. My window looks amazing and he is handing my keys back. Honestly, I have never had better service from an "appointment" style company. Comcast has always let me down, Ashley furniture was always late, etc. This company obviously is doing something right with their drivers. I am more than pleased. read more

Also wish I could give zero stars. Came in for an estimate as part of State Farm preferred shops to see extent of the damage. My first visit I waited fifteen minutes before getting helped despite having an appointment. Worked with a nice guy who said there was damage but he couldn't write the estimate. They needed the paint less dent removal guy and I needed to come back the following week. Come back and again waited fifteen minutes to find out someone messed up and they weren't coming. But now they can write me an estimate. I submit a claim and scheduled repairs for a couple days later. When I decided I didn't want to go through them they told State Farm that they have to see the car again because they don't think it's related damage. Shady business practices by this place. Reporting them and State Farm to DOI for bad faith. Go elsewhere! You'll be glad you did. read more

Took my car for hail damage to Gerber Collision and Glass on LaSalle in Naperville . Pick it up and the next morning went to hang something on the hooks above the back seat. HA HA they were install upside down. Called the shop asked if I could come in at 10 when the techs were "settled in" I said I could be there around 11. Due to traffic and construction on RT. 59 I got there at 12 Walked in and got a uninviting look from one of the girls and told them who is was. She called the GM of Gerber Collision and Glass on LaSalle in Naperville comes out and one of the receptionist says He was Supposed to be here at 11 Went out with the "GM" to look at my car. He looked at the hooks which where installed upside down. He looked them and said "MY TECHS ARE ON LUNCH" Then I said there is a pencil X and something on the headliner also. Expecting someone to correct THEIR MISTAKE And the "GM" said "Like I Said My Techs Are On Lunch" can you come back after 1, Like it was my fault. I said no I can come back on Monday and he finally apologized and said "Sorry for the Inconvenience." Of course I didn't go back. I spent $200 deductible $60 rental car just to have to correct their work. Laughable on Lunch. Figure out who your incompetent techs is or grab a screwdriver "GM" and fix it yourself. So after I sent the email. I get at call from someone in the shop. Trying to explain to me they only pushed the paper and washed the car. They "SUBLET the WORK OUT" Which makes no difference to me. I took my car to Gerber Collision and Glass on LaSalle in Naperville and they are responsible for it not matter who they sublet out to. But they don't feel they are by trying to pass the blame to their subs. So I told the Guy don't ever call me , I am done with your shop and Have Nice Day. Then I HUNG UP. read more

Back in 2013 I took my leased Buick Verano to Gerber and paid over $2000 cash for a slight scratch and paintjob near the fender. Originally I thought I got a good deal. The beginning is just minor details, the end is where it gets bad. I have gone to this business twice to get my car repaired. The first time, I had a damaged fender from an accident. I brought it to them and they told me I needed to have a suspension part replaced which took a very long time (weeks) to come in. When I got the car back, my brand new fender had a scratch on it along with the mirror that they had to take off - unacceptable. I got in a second car accident and attempted to go to another body shop but they were very back up so I had to go back to Gerber again. The experience was fine up until I received my car back and saw that they had ordered a new part from Honda for my car and didn't tell me - the part had already been ordered and was not extremely expensive so I decided to just have them install it since installation was free. Not a huge deal, just kind of shady of them to do that without asking me. The MAJOR problem I have with how this establishment is run is what happened after I got my car back the second time. I was feeling vibration in my car upon acceleration. It wasn't vibrating before and the accident had damaged the suspension assembly so I knew that was the cause. I brought it back to them to have them inspect it. I was told to take the Manager for a test drive to show him the problem and when I got back he told me "Oh, I'm not a mechanic so i can't tell you what's wrong with it.".... Then why did I take you for a test drive?! This is what Gerber does - they fix cars after accidents and they offered no assistance with my car that they claimed to have fixed. They basically told me I was S.O.L. and I needed to take it to a different shop to have it repaired. FURTHERMORE, upon personal inspection of my car to see if I could diagnose the problem, I jacked the car up and found that a shield underneath the rear of the car was bent during the accident. Not only did Gerber not tell me, not repair it, or tell me to replace it, but they didn't even put a bolt through the shield because they couldn't. They just left the shield there missing a bolt and rattling behind my car. I called them and left a message telling them that they installed the shield wrong and I got no response or call back. The manager had told me the first time I brought my car there that if I had any issues, to tell him and he would resolve it. Well, I tried to do that and was offered no assistance. I am very disappointed in this business, will not be going back, and will tell everyone I know not to bring their cars here either. read more

Do not trust this shop! Had a bad experience here with my vehicle being stolen. A little research and investigating and turned out it was a inside job with certain employees. Gerber didn't want to take any ownership whatsoever even though it was caught on their own surveillance. I specifically requested them to leave my vehicle indoors and they left it parked outside and the keys hidden in the grass for the people to steal it. read more

I needed my rear bumper replaced and painted, and not only was that done perfectly, but he used the remainder paint to touch up other unrelated scratches and scrapes on my car. I'm done with Gerber. Customer service is brutal. A series of frustrations. In one case, I had an estimate completed, left the facility and realized they had all the right information on the estimate, just the wrong car and VIN listed. When I called back and asked to just update that information and email me a revised copy, they said they couldn't and that I would have to travel all the way back to the facility to get an updated estimate. Why not email it? I had to wait 4-days before I could get enough time to pick it up. It was their clerical mistake but they couldn't find a way to get me a revised estimate without me having to find time to leave work and drive all the way back. On a different car, I took it in to get an estimate for front-end damage. I was provided an estimate to do the repairs but I had to wait a few months to get it done. When I returned to get the work done, I was told they would need to rework the estimate. The revision came back at over 4X the cost of the original. When I asked how this could be, I was told it wasn't estimated correctly the first time. Even after this, I asked to scale back the work effort to get it in line with the original estimate. They suggested alternatives I was told I would be called once it is worked out. Never received the call. I followed up and asked for a call back from the rep who worked with me. Never got the call. That's all I needed. No one needs this aggravation, especially when you have been trying to give a place your business. I've worked with better more service oriented collision repair facilities. Simple repair and their estimate was for 8 hours / 2 days to repair. Dropped my car off on a Tuesday and it took them until the following Monday - 7 days to repair. Haha...how do I review them for a service I never received? Looking for windshield replacement quotes online, Gerber called me within minutes of an online quote to set up an appointment. I was impressed with their hustle and because of the holiday weekend, they couldn't send a guy to me for five days and he gave me a $20 discount. Appointment set between 8am to noon...that day rolls around and I missed my tech's call at 8:30, but I called him back and talked to him. He explained that someone from scheduling would call me because unlike his message said, he wouldn't be at my house since they sent him to Wisconsin instead. What? I waited for a call and never received one. Called Gerber at 12:30 and was put on hold while they tried to figure out what was going on, and eventually said they would call me back. My husband tried to call at 5pm, was on hold for 15 minutes and hung up. I finally talked to someone at 7pm and was told they would get back to me, an email was sent to the manager because he wasn't answering the phone, but I would get a call and they may have to reschedule (haha!). I never got a phone call that night, but did get a generic email reminding me of my appointment for the day that already passed. Three days later and I haven't heard from Gerber, so they've lost my business and recommendations in the future! read more
