Just purchased a microwave (2nd appliance from Gerhards) over the phone with Sally. Can't say anything yet about the delivery, install, or product reliability (delivery next wk). But 5 stars for Sally, who made both purchases a truly rare experience. She was friendly, helpful, professional, sent the receipt and paid invoice immediately, and was plain old nice! Greatly appreciated the purchase experience when all I seem to deal with are rude, snotty, unhelpful salespersons that don't follow through. If I could give a negative star rating, I would. I purchased a Miele dishwasher on 11/4/19. I still do not have a functioning dishwasher!! Totally disgusted with the bureaucracy in the handling of the situation. Dishwasher does not dry the dishes. I'm not talking a few water spots, I'm talking full on WET dishes. I've had a Miele tech out to look at the machine. The installation I paid $125 for was not done correctly. Even with that issue addressed, it continues to not dry dishes (Miele service technician was awesome btw). Two months of emails, time wasted, wet dishes...I'm beyond dissatisfied. Totally amateur operation. When I requested a refund of my $1217.94, I was told this matter would be passed to the 'escalation team' for review. I guess escalation team is their word for the trash bin as it's been WEEKS and I've not had any communication. I highly recommend not doing business with Gerhard's Appliance because when they sell defective products under warranty they do nothing to help the customer repair or replace the defective product. My wife and I purchased an LG washer from Gerhard's Appliances in Malvern which came with a one year warranty. Our washer leaked after a few months of use with water traveling from our first floor laundry room down to our finished basement causing significant damage. Gerhard's Appliance directed us to LG who sent out A&E Service whose technician was unable to repair the washer on two separate occasions and stated that it was a plumbing issue. We then hired a plumber to test the connections which were all good and when we attempted to run the washer we witnessed the water again leaking from the bottom of the washer which flooded our home again. I then walked into Gerhard's Appliance and informed them of the situation. Gerhard's Appliance refused to repair our washer offsite offering only to run it again/attempt to repair it in our home which we refused given the significant home damage that had already occurred. read more

Gerhard's sells defective merchandise that they won't stand behind or service. They delivered a high-end dishwasher that didn't work upon delivery. They would not exchange it, service was sent out a week later and could not fix it. I was supposed to get a call about a resolution. I never received the call, I called service and the sales manager, I never got a call back. I stopped in to speak with the sales manager and heard nothing after that. I finally disputed the charge, will have to order the same product through a REPUTABLE store and will have the defective unit hauled away and dumped on the sidewalk of the store where I ordered it from. This ends all dealings with Gerhard's which ranks as the worst experience I have ever had in major appliance purchases! read more

Absolute worst experience ever! As a business owner I prefer to support local businesses. I have a bunch of residential rental units and wanted to give Gerharts my business as I am regularly in need of washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers etc... I was delivered a broken washer and it has now be 2 full days of trying to track someone/ANYONE down to help me get this issue resolved. The washer flooded my tenants unit. The delivery driver was saying very inappropriate things to me making me very uncomfortable. I have been transferred to at least 5 different peoples voice mails, none of which have a name or message set up. No return phone calls, no resolution for my problem. The absolute ONLY REASON they get 1 star is because I have no choice if I want to right a review *edit-one of the Gethard's returned my call & helped (hopefully) resolve the issue. A few months ago, we bought a little over $8K in appliances from this outfit. One of them, a Summit icemaker, stopped working almost immediately after we bought it. I can confirm that service in the store is rude. Salesperson kind of know-it-all snooty despite not appearing to be very knowledgeable. Also off the bat didn't seem to have taken a liking to me despite myself not being my usual rude self. clearly gave the impression she did not like answering my questions, as though just acknowledging me with an answer was some deep offense. you could see the contortions of her mouth just trying to conceal her disgust, no kidding! Only identifying thing I could think of was my not being vanilla (more strawberry with ginger). Vanilla friend had to take over. Otherwise there would have been absolutely no assistance and i would have been so po'ed I would have created a scene, maybe you would have heard about it all on the evening news. Try D & K. Gerhards did a poor electrical range installation back in 2019 that lead to the unit prematurely failing today in July of 2022. Their technician violated the Electrical code and installed the range with a plug buried behind an outlet which is a fire hazard and in this case caused the wire on the terminal block to melt. If not for the breaker successfully tripping this could have been a much more serious problem. After explaining this to Gerhards and providing proof with pictures and notes from the Master Electrician who when out to fix their mistake on this now emergency electrical repair. I was treated rudely by Sally a sales associate who told me to reach out to the manger Anthony and Christina and gave me their emails as she actually laughed at me when I left (unreal). The mangers Anthony and Christina were unwilling to swap the range for a new one as recommend by the electrician. They were only willing to offer a $50 discount for me to buy a new one. Needless to say I will be going elsewhere to buy a new range. I caution anyone who is thinking about having Gerhards install your items. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER IT'S A SHAME WHEN YOU CHOOSE TO SUPPORT THE SMALLER GUY, FOR THE PERSONAL TOUCH, BUT GET SCREWED WORSE THAN IF YOU HAD USED THE BIGGER COMPANIES WHO WOULD HAVE MADE THIS RIGHT. We bought a dishwasher and chose Gerhards's because we thought it would be more professional than having Lowe's or Home Depot. The "installers" hooked it up without a drain hose, or grounding it. Then they ran a test cycle and left. No one checked the input/ output. So where do you think all of that water went? Waterfalls of water went straight to the basement near power lines. Spent all night cleaning water damage. Called them. Closed. Showed up first thing on Saturday to dumbfounded stares. No one can help because there is no one working on weekend s or to call in a bad situation. So we were stuck. We called a plumber thinking that might resolve the issue and were told that it never should have been installed. It was missing a factory installed hose and anybody who KNOWS their job would have seen it, put it back in the box, and gotten another one. The plumber was going to call them with his findings and recommend a whole new washer. So, I went back to the store, bill in hand, to more empty stares. No one offered a resolution for my trouble. I asked for a new dishwasher- we have to order it. Don't know when it will be in and can't request a rush. No, there is no stock in this big building of anything similar. So now I am stuck. My hands are tied. We already paid $$$$ for the dishwasher, and plumber, and now throwing out items do to water damage. I have to take another unpaid day off from work for the delivery whenever it is- if I can on a shortened holiday week. And we are stuck without a working dishwasher with the holiday coming up. Still waiting for dishwasher - was not even offered a similar model to get it replaced quicker. The inside of the dishwasher is visibly crumpled/ banged up in the back resulting in a compromised seal. (I wish I could post pics) ANOTHER bad washer from the manufacturer with issues that are VERY visible to a regular person. I would be the first one to say stuff happens. So why aren't "the professionals" who deal with washers every single day questioning these things? Now I have a wet basement and subfloor that, Lord only knows how long it takes to really dry. How long before mold starts growing and affects my asthma? We were promised a refund for the original plumbers bill. Nothing. The store took a copy THAT day and I have had to provide other copies, because it hasn't been seen. I was promised that they weren't going to charge me for $150 installation.. Still no credit I been promised to be compensated for all of this ridiculousness -NOT because it was offered, but because I asked. I waited for 4 days an no phone call back, but when I tried I had to make 5 phone calls before I received a phone call. BEWARE of their warranty company. If I had the option to post a zero star review, without question, I would. It's almost hard to believe how little the folks at Gerhard care about customer satisfaction. Perhaps because of their "no return or exchange" policy, it would seem they don't care about the customer at all once you leave with a product. We purchased a microwave a few months back and have been making over our kitchen over a period of time. When we opened the box to install, we found the product to be defective. We contacted Samsung to ask whether it should come to them directly or through the merchant (because as you would imagine, the product has a 1 year warranty like most), they said that the merchant would absolutely handle it. Gerhard came out and confirmed it was defective. They would not swap it for a new one, though, they insisted on ordering a part. A new part comes in, they send their guy out again and the part is broken. Finally, three weeks later, they agree to order a new microwave. Of course, it's on back order. Most of us have had experiences resembling this where things just don't work out. However, across this whole three week nightmare: 1) We haven't had a microwave to use until a few days ago when we got a junky lender 2) Calls from Gerhard have not been returned without calling them multiple times 3) Each of the two times they came out to work on the unit, the tech left parts sprawled out and a mess in our garage 4) They haven't seemed even a little bit upset that we've been so disappointed. Bad news is easier to take when the bearer at least tries to do what they can to ensure satisfaction. At the end of all my griping here, the bottom line is this: They sell name brands and even have a few reasonable prices, but if anything at all should go wrong with your purchase, you might be SOL. read more

Our research in these situations led us to go directly to Gerhard's the last time...and we will continue to do just that going forward. Why didn't I listen to Mike S.? Seriously ZERO stars for Gerhard's. Wife and I remodeled our kitchen, and we purchased range, wall oven, dishwasher, and fridge from Gerhard's. They have an excellent selection of products, including carrying Blue Star appliances which was the main draw for us. Pricing wasn't horrible either, the showroom was pleasant, and the sales people mostly helpful. I was also keen on the idea of a family owned and operated store, and it helped that the salesperson working with us was a Gerhard. So we had no reservations moving forward with significant purchases. The first of many issues came when it was time to take delivery of the items. We got a call a couple weeks before informing us that all items were in and ready to be delivered. So we worked with our contractor to schedule delivery and ensure his team was available to direct the appliances where they needed to go and begin installation. While the delivery did come on time, only half of the items were on the truck! To top it off, the wrong model dishwasher was delivered, and before anyone realized it, the appliance was installed and operational. It was a pain in the ass fixing that mixup, and involved a 1.5 month long process involving at least two phone calls a week. Upon learning that only half of the items were delivered, a phone call to Gerhard's resulted in sorry, your sales person no longer works for the company (so much for being a family business!!!!) and "we don't know what happened. We'll call you back." This was the first of many no call backs. Big strike against customer service there. Ultimately, the impression given was that the items that weren't delivered weren't even ordered! Gerhard's also cared less that my contractor and team were at a standstill on my dime, and that their time and my money was completely wasted due to their disorganization. While I wouldn't have been thrilled with acknowledgment of a screwup before scheduling delivery, a bit of honesty on their end could have spared me wasted time and money. Three weeks later, the same phone call comes: all of your items are ready for delivery. All of them, I ask? "All of them. We promise." Same routine: get crew on site day of delivery for quick turn around. This time, however, Gerhard's delivery fails to show up!!!!! It took multiple calls to their warehouse to figure out what was going on, but not a soul had any idea. Yes: you are scheduled for delivery before 4PM today. Oh, it's already 4PM? Let me call the driver. Sorry, the driver is busy, call I call you back? You know the routing by now. Ultimately, I gave up waiting, and told them to schedule delivery for the next day so I could send the crew home. Fortunately, Gerhard's delivery service did show up the next day as promised. Unfortunately, it was groundhog day: not all of the items were delivered, yet again! Come on... really? Not much time was wasted on the contractor's end this time around as the big items were delivered, just not the dishwasher from the earlier fiasco, but still. Another call to Gerhard's resulted in a "we don't know what happened." Knowing it would be another multiple call effort to sort through the details, I ended up driving to the store and picking up the item myself. AND IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH, though I paid for the appliances up front in full (mistake on my part... all of my leverage was gone, and I couldn't simply say forget it: keep the appliances and I'm going elsewhere), I later received a bill telling me that a charge that was waived by the original sales person with the last name of Gerhard's who no longer works there was being added back to the bill. WTF? This item is still unresolved, and I'm not happy about it in the least. Bottom line, Gerhard's is disorganized and does not have the skill set or training required to properly deal with customers and fix their own mistakes--of which there were many in my experience. I was very surprised when I visited Gerhard's in Frazer. From the ads it looked like it was a great place and family-owned. We had visited the big box stores and assumed that a smaller store would be a better place to buy. Boy - were we wrong. My husband I walked in and were not greeted by anyone. There were many salespeople - who met eyes with us, but never said a word. Some were not with customers, or if they were - none had the courtesy to say that they would be with us shortly. We walked around the store a few times waiting to be helped and no one asked us. We finally walked out - where a woman at the front desk who was very nice, said that everyone was busy or tied up - would we like to wait. We had planned to buy an entire kitchen - and they lost the sale. I would never go back. read more

On my visit, Gerhard's really had their act together. No waiting around trying to find someone to help me, the girls at front desk asked what they could help us with & then quickly assigned a person who knew what they had to meet our needs. All we had to do is say yes or no. We had everything completed in less than an hour including delivery & payment arrangements. Compare this to a 45 minute wait in a "box store" for a person to help - only to find they had no stock. I don't know if every experience is like ours but I'd certainly give Gerhard's a try! read more

Unfortunately, I won't ever shop at gerhards again. The delivery men were unfriendly and seemed to be bothered that they had to deliver my appliances on Saturday afternoon. They were rude from the moment they arrived to my house. We moved in to our beautiful brand new home and 36 hours later, gerhards appliance delivery men caused so much damage due to their lack of care. They delivered our washer and dryer to the upper level, and within minutes water had leaked down to the main level and basement. Causing damage on floors, ceilings, down the walls all the way to the basement. It's most upsetting that speaking with the owner he couldn't even help us or take responsibility for his employees mistake. Mistakes happen but we are very upset with how it is being handled. We have pictures to prove and show the amount of damage caused. We also were told that our frig would not fit up the stairs because it was to big. We bought the same frig the model home had so we knew it fit. The delivery men refused and left the frig in the garage. Being that it was a Saturday delivery we would now not have a frig until at least Monday. Monday came and went and no call. I figured we would be priority but that was not the case. We didn't get our frig delivered until Tuesday night. The delivery men who came this time had absolutely no problems getting the frig up the stairs. So our frig sat in our garage for 4 full days for no reason. It has now been two weeks since the disaster happened and Gerhard's has yet to reach out to us. I am so upset with the lack of customer service at Gerhard's. Family and friends will not be shopping there. Be very cautious of doing business with them. Super Disappointing. read more

Bill was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire purchase process which took nearly 8 months because of covid. I had redone my entire kitchen/laundry room and quickly updated me on delivery times and expectancies. When the delivery guys didn't install my water and gas lines, he was prompt to get them back the following business day and resolve that issue. I had a single microwave that was backordered for nearly eight months. During that time we had no insight into when inventory would be replenished. I emailed him nearly every week to see if there was a new update and he was always very quick to respond. Thanks again for all your help! read more

To make a very long story short, we needed about 5 appointments with a repairman to have our new appliances in proper order. This started in May and has yet to be resolved. From the missing propane kit for our stove, which required 3 visits to get it set up properly to a dented door on our refrigerator. We were initially going to stop payment via our credit card, however, we were assured by a Manager, Matt Ashley, that he would remediate our experience by providing us some financial assistance on our purchase. This was promised through repeated phone conversations as well as emails. It is such a shame that this well known company cannot and will not keep their word. If respect, honesty, confidence and customer care is something you value, Do Not patronize this company. I do not write reviews, but I have also never been so mistreated by a company nor in the situation that I am in before in my life. After purchasing and paying in full for an entire new house worth of appliances, in JUNE, items were delivered on Sept 23, some missing, one damaged, one needing the door hinge changed, and the dryer was missing the proper cord for code and there was no steam kit to install the W&D. The installer did not speak to anyone on site, did not install a single thing and simply left. I had to call to find out what happened and what was going on. Literally not one item that was delivered is usable nor installed. For the past week and a half I have tried to get answers, emailing and calling management and then even emailing ownership. NO ONE has called nor responded with any sort of plan, apology nor information. The entire construction project is now on hold b/c the backsplash cannot be installed b/c the hood is not installed. The Certificate of Occupancy and handover was scheduled for this week and will not happen. And, we don't know when it will b/c no one from this company will respond. DO not even consider getting yourself into this situation. The amount of time and money wasted is one thing. The headache, stress, frustration and disappointment is another. read more

Selection and purchase experience was fine. Like others, scheduling delivery was a little complex and the salesman's view of available times did not match what delivery service had. Took a star away for that. The other issue is that it had damage on it. Calling service department never gets an answer. You always have to leave a message and get a response either in a few hours or sometimes a day . Service guy was good but it always takes two trips because the come out to analyze and then order parts. Then they fix. Currently waiting for them to show up for the fix Update: They fixed first issue but can't add a star. Had another issue with dishwasher (I'll blame LG for that) but again first trip only to diagnose and order parts. Thing is that a month later it turns out they never submitted order for parts. They ran into tech question/issue and never followed up with next steps. SerVice man very nice and apologetic and says he'll give update Friday but didn't and didn't today Monday. We sent text reminders but still waiting. They get A for pleasantness but D for effectiveness. Next appliance will be from Sears (if they aren't bankrupt by then) Update 6/6: Fix broke again. Reducing rating to 1 star. The quality of the dishwasher may be LGs fault, but the impossibility to reach or schedule service is all Gerhard and their appliance contractor. We received the latest part last week and scheduled fix for today. They never called but when we finally reached them they had made error and now owe us another call back. Unfortunately, even an A for pleasantness can't cover that their service is completely unacceptable Update 9/25/2018 Had appt for different problem today. The gave us 3 hour window. So my wife waited at home. They called before that time when my wife was not near phone and cancelled because she didn't answer PRIOR to scheduled time. We've purchased many appliances here and have had mixed experiences. The sales folks were very helpful informative and honest in the this location and overall quite friendly. Sometimes it's crowded and hard to get some help but the wait is never super long. We had multiple issues with a purchased product and despite our frustration with this Gerhard's was courteous and we could tell they tried their best to resolve in our best interest. Notably Ashley who made a point to provide frequent updates until the issue was resolved. Ultimately our appliance had to be completely replaced which could be blamed on the manufacturer, delivery service and or the installer but Gerhard's worked as the go between to help resolve. In summary.... The Good - responsive and attentive service reps The Not so Good - delivery team was a no show for the first appt but made up for it by coming promptly the next morning as promised. We were a bit annoyed but they were professional and expedient so we didn't lose our whole day waiting. Overall we'd shop here again given the follow through on customer service. read more

Beware of this retailer. Gerhard's might have a nice showroom, but that is where it ends. My refrigerators were delivered and one was damaged. Within minutes of the delivery guys leaving, we called to have the unit replaced due to the damage that was on the unit. Not So Easy! After many hours of conversation, multiple attempts to get someone who could resolve the matter, we find out a service guy needs to come to try to repair the unit. Repair a brand new unit that is out of the box? Unbelievable and we need to miss another day of work to get the appliance right from a local business that is a mile away the first time! I was very disappointed by my experience with Gerhard's. In the past, this company had a strong reputation for supporting appliances they sold and providing an unparalleled owner experience. (I purchased another appliance from them years ago and chose them based on that experience.) Not any more, it would seem. I purchased an over the counter microwave and had an okay sales experience. The saleswoman directed me to the items on the floor, even though none met my requirements. I researched and found a model that did--which they had in stock. I wish she had listened to my requirements and directed me to this model rather than making me do that work. That wasn't the real problem. The installation (by a subcontractor) went well, but it turned out the unit we received was defective. I contacted them to request the unit be replaced. They insisted on repairing rather than replacing the (new) unit. I was very upset by this. Weeks and lots of phone calls go by. I continue to insist on a replacement. They promise to return calls and didn't. They sent a repair team to my house WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT. I gave up. It's just a microwave, so I'll accept the repair--and never, ever, under any circumstances purchase another product from this organization. UPDATE: The uninvited repair couldn't even get the job done, citing custom cabinetry trim (that we don't have and that wasn't a problem for the installer). Incredible. read more

I had a very nice experience with Gerhard's Appliance and wanted to write a review. Everyone was very helpful with the ordering of my appliance. They scheduled a delivery a few days after the order and were very good about texting the time frame they were coming and then when the were close to arrival. The installation went very smoothly and the installers were very polite and competent. They even vacuumed up the sawdust from the installation. Overall it was a very positive experience. read more
