Don't go here if you have skin cancer. This a place much more geared to face lifts , Botox, body makeovers. Not for diseases.

Railroad track scars all over my face from Doctor Bruce Barach and aslo indented face scars. My face looked better before this guy touched me. This guy is a freak. Stood five feet back every time I came in for a complication. Let's get a class action lawsuit against this guy. He should not be allowed to have a knife in his hand. After several years of not having a full body scan from a dermatologist, I had one performed in the summer of 2022 at Germain Dermatology in Pawleys Island. During the scan, I asked the dermatologist about a relatively new mole on my face that appeared suspicious to me. It was flaky and pretty gross to look at. She told me that it wasn't uncommon to have new moles form and that it was nothing to worry about. I returned to this same location in the spring of 2024, this time to specifically ask for the mole to be removed. At that appointment a biopsy of the mole was performed, which I assume is standard procedure. Several days later, I received a phone call notifying me that the biopsy results revealed that I had basal-cell carcinoma. Had I thus not asked about removing this mole, I never would have known I had skin cancer. So, the dermatologist during my 2022 appointment made a mistake by dismissing the suspicious mole. Before my appointment with the plastic surgeon to remove the skin cancer a few weeks later, I was only told that there would be a scar. No information regarding the procedure itself, nor the nature of the scar, was provided. I should add here that both before and after the procedure, I asked multiple individuals if there was any cream or other substance I could use to minimize any scarring. Each time the answer was "No" and that the scar would naturally heal on its own. I was more than surprised to have about one inch of my face cut open during the surgery, along with leaving with about 10-12 stitches. I couldn't believe what I saw when I looked in the rearview mirror as I sat in my car before heading home. It's also important to point out that no post-procedure instructions were provided to me, besides a recommendation to avoid the sun. About 2 months after the procedure, a mole appeared in the same place where the former one was located. Having moved abroad by this point, I phoned Germain Dermatology to inquire why this new mole had appeared and what I should do about it. The woman with whom I spoke told me that I should have a biopsy performed on this new mole. She also recommended a specific cream I could purchase on Amazon that would reduce scarring, information I would have loved to have had months earlier. So, here I am...an American in the Czech Republic with a hideous one-inch scar on his face and possibly skin cancer. Words cannot describe how upset I am with Germain Dermatology. As a Roman Catholic, though, I am required to forgive those who wrong me. And that's what I will do. read more

First I would like to say that Dr. Bruce K Barach was very pleasant and efficient. I went in for a concern on my face and a body exam. He found a melanoma on the center of my back at my waist that I would never have noticed...even my partner. So thank you to Dr Barach, M. D., who is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, for finding and addressing that. My complaint is with office protocol. They do no answer the telephone and ask you to press 1 if you are one your cell phone to receive a text message...never happens. Hold on the phone...and forever...there are three employees on the desk at Pawley's Island...but they aren't answering the phone! They are talking and socializing...only two...up to 3 people in the waiting area. It's much larger than needed, but that's nice. Once you finally reach a person, don't expect to hear back. They will call you to tell you that you have Melanoma on their own time...it took me beginning to get " fit in" to get the extra skin removal to get clear margins, because I was about to have spine surgery... Forget the disk replacement if I am going to die of Melanoma. I'm a realist...had invasive breast cancer at 38. I never got a return phone call, they never communicated with my other doctors and they billed me $ 155.79 beyond what their contract with my insurance had agreed to. Wow...you have a very aggressive type of skin cancer...sorry, we don't take calls on your time...don't care about your other surgeons...but you owe us more than your insurance paid, despite our agreement with them. ( I had talked to local Pawley's Island staff, and set a copy of my EOP...still sent me a bill...for $155.79. Could be considered Medicare Fraud? I'll let them decide. Husband went in for pre cancer spot. Liquid nitrogen was used. He needed to go to another dermatologist for antibiotic and steroid treatment as his face was literally burned from over use of spray. Took 2 weeks to start to clear up. And it has been 2 months and STILL waiting for a product refund after 3 calls. Poor all around heathcare read more

This practice is a bait and switch. They promote the original owner Dr. Germain, who may have been motivated and gifted once as a dermatologist, but she only does botox now. I went in with several serious issues and had two facial biopsies performed. A physician who was listed as a plastic surgeon performed two sliced off biopsies on my face, he seemed superficial and totally oblivious to any concerns I had other than doing the biopsies and told me I could consult with the front desk regarding my other concerns. The biopsies I had were unlike any before in my history as usually very small 'punch' biopsies are done, especially on a woman's face and then depending on pathology reports the surgery will then be tailored to the pathology. On my benign growth near my eye I was then left with an unhealed crater which was repaired by my doctor in NJ. I was hounded by calls for procedures that were $5000 and up!!! My advice as a nurse practitioner is DO NOT GO HERE!!! read more
