I had my 2015 Audi Q5 TDI (95,000 miles) serviced with Steve as my Service Advisor. My car had been throwing intermittent codes for the emissions system. I finally decided to have the system diagnosed and repaired. I used ChatGPT to help me understand what would be required. It stated that the EGR valve and solenoid needed replacement, Steve concurred . During the disassembly, excessive carbon buildup was found, and needed to be removed. They also found a small leak in the oil cooler. Since the engine was partially disassembled it was more cost effective to replace it at the same time. Trash, told a mechanic to take a look at my fuel system since my car was sputtering while driving. I provided them with a new fuel pump in case it was on its way out. One week and $1,000 later i get my car back, it looked like it had been sitting under a tree the entire time with lots of bird shit on it. The least they could've done was hose it off. Back to mechanical fix- they have lifts and thousands of dollars of equipment and tools to diagnose a car. All that had to be done was to inspect the fuel system.Personally, I would've checked the supply line from the gas tank first; if I were a mechanic... After getting the car back about a day later it's sputtering again. I had to lift the car myself and squeeze my body under it so that I could take a peek; I was trying to avoid this that's why I sent it to the shop. It took me less than 3 minutes to find a fuel hose with holes in it. Car has been driving great ever since replacing a fuel hose. Thank you German Auto.. read more

Good Afternoon, I would like to express my experience with the staff at the German Auto Group (GAG) located on Blacklick Rd in Springfield Virginia. Often customers are a little apprehensive going to a foreign car repair shop for obvious reasons (Cost of repairs.) This was NOT the case here. I even called ahead prior to bringing my car to try to get a feel for this place and after speaking briefly with the service manager decided to proceed. Upon arrival I was met by the delightful and energetic Ms. Martha Decerbo. Who after discussions with the service department called and explained in detail what repairs were needed and provided an estimate on cost and identified other items with recommendations if i decided to move forward. Ms Decerbo, coordinated my car repairs and updated me throughout the process she was FANTASTIC. Cars require repairs over time that unavoidable! But Excellent customer service is a fading gift and a most precious asset to a company to have customers return. They took my car in, performed the work for a fair price, and I was on my way in 2 hours. They took the time to explain what they did and talked about any future issues I should be aware of. I brought my Audi Q3 in for an oil change, and I'm very impressed with the service I received. I requested the appointment through their website and they followed up via email to confirm my vehicle and the appointment. It was an easy process, and Tim did a great job keeping me informed on how long the oil change would take and walked me through recommended maintenance with no pressure to spend money on non-immediate car care. Tim also priced out an estimate on new brakes for my car, which he said would probably need to be taken care of when my car is in next for an oil change. Tim was efficient and communicative without pressure for unnecessary work. My car came back washed and vacuumed with the work done in a timely fashion. This was my INITIAL review (now edited) of GAG 9 months ago but it was posted to the OTHER GAG in Springfield. ANYWAY here is their review... It's long but distinguished, ;-) Overall, my experience with this repair shop was very positive. The ONLY issue I have is that they do not have any loaner cars (NO LONGER TRUE ANYMORE THEY DO), hence the 4 stars ( I gave them 5 now). I'll get into my actual experience then touch on the loaner situation. I had an issue with the transmission on my BMW 7 series, AND I have a warranty company that takes their sweet ass time on claims of this magnitude. Seems it took them two days to get anything done and goes through multiple tiers. Long story short, It was almost two weeks before we had a FINAL decision on what they were going to do for me. Meanwhile, I am renting a car tick-tock at 32 dollar a day with tax - 36 and change. So the warranty company decides to forgo the Metronix repair and just buys me a new ZF BMW transmission (factory re-manufactured). I was happy! I said "damn a new transmission with zero miles YA!" Well, the only problem was it was going to take 9 days to get it to the shop, throw in a holiday weekend and bingo $$$ more for the rental. So, week three rolls around and the transmission arrives and it takes a few days to get it installed and programmed. I take back my rental to the tune of $600+ dollars, and that was with the one (1) day the shop paid for. Geesh My shop bill was pretty close to $700 when I got my car that Friday. The $700 was for things my warranty company did not pay for which was fine. Approximate $1300 dollars total was paid when all was said and done... **This section was originally about the "no loaner car" stuff (deleted) - they now have some loaner cars for BIG jobs - GREAT WORK and THANKS!! Now for my personal experience with GAG: Simply amazing! Tim kept in contact and returned all my calls. Tim was my primary service adviser, however, David was his pinch hitter for a day. Both are extremely personable people and know their business inside an out. Helpful - oh ya I can't even tell you. This was a very stressful situation with the rental racking up $$$ and Tim made it better for sure. THE SHOP: Ya... The shop is located in an unusual place: It is situated right next to some sort of vehicle storage yard / junk yard that is a complete and utter mess. The road leading to the shop is lined with wrecks and non-wreaks alike. The road itself is in bad repair as well. Someone needs to call the landlord and get that road fixed! Sadly, it is hard to know where the shop starts and that dump located beside them starts as most of the cars lining road are MB, BMW's, Jags and so on. BUT transversing this road is well worth it for the service and expertise one gets at GAG. The install: P-E-R-F-E-C-T. The car shifts great, is quiet and programmed properly. Drives like new and I love it. The (former) loaner situation aside, In the end I would certainly take my car back to the German Auto Group for any repairs I my need as they get it right the 1st time and are a pleasure to deal with on a personal level. If you have a BMW, MB, FERRARI, ROLLS ROYCE, BENTLEY, PORSCHE, AUDI, JAG, MAYBACH, LAMBO - TAKE IT TO THEM, THEY KNOW THEIR STUFF!!! We've been looking for a shop to take our cars to since we moved here from Tampa, Fl. So I had asked my hair dresser David , owner of Jon David hair salon and he recommended this place. My husband took our GL550 because it was having some issues with the abs/ems. He met with Tim and he explained thoroughly what the problem was and the cost to fix it! Bottomline is, the problem got fixed and it didn't cost an arm and a leg if you know what I mean! I brought in my car because it was making a squeaky noise while driving or simply turning the steering wheel. The gentleman that looked at it for 30 seconds said that the car was 'fine' and 'the squeaky noise was normal'. Well, it wasn't. I had a very bad experience with this shop. They're decent for basic car service/maintenance needs, but if you have a complex issue like I did I suggest to stay away from them. They boxed me into a corner with super expensive solutions for my failed engine on my Audi A4. All they care about is how to run the clock on the labor done on your car. I felt like no one cared about providing an excellent service and working to get my complex repair addressed. We are an active duty family. Fellow military families, please stay away!!! We thought we were getting great service. Every time we took our vehicles they recommended this and that, etc. We probably paid several thousand over one year. I told my husband I was getting suspicious about their service. He realized I was right when we paid for work and the problem continued, hence what they told us and what we paid for wasn't the problem. Then, my husband was going though all our receipts and discovered they changed us twice for the same service. Finally our last and FINAL service they recommended work totaling almost $700. I told my husband not to get it done. Our landlord recommended another place. We told them what German said was wrong. Their quote for the same service was half the price. When we took it to the other place to get it done, they checked it out and said the part WAS NOT BAD!! WOW!! God only knows how long they were taking advantage of us. My husband told a fellow soldier about the situation. GUESS WHAT?? German did it to him as well!! Please don't make the same mistake!!! Your bank account will be pleased if you AVOID this place!! I really don't like giving poor reviews but this really should be a 2-3 star rating. I have trusted German auto group with my Porsche Macan S and my Mercedes 300 C for over a year now. However, this month right after COVID-19 situation my Mercedes needed a new battery and voltage converter. The battery German Auto Grop replaced in my vehicle was an Intersated battery MTX-48/H6. It retails for $215 the auto group charge me $240, which is understandable for a delivery charge. What I didn't understand is why they used an Interstate battery in the vehicle instead of a Mercedes battery. Moreover to my disappointment the voltage converter, part 205905341480 list for $137. The shop charged me $205. To be charged twice for the same shipment is bad. Moreover, the voltage converter is the size of your palm of your hand. In this modern day of Internet and pricing, such premiums on parts could easily be discovered. While I enjoy German Auto Group for their services, I am disappointed in the use of ordinary parts and overcharges for Mercedes parts.I hope the owner would be able to read this and return to it focus on quality services with quality parts deserving of the vehicles it' services. read more

This review is long overdue and well deserved. We purchased a Mercedes Benz GL 2012 from what we found out later was a crummy dealership with no accountability values or integrity. We picked up the car 7/17 and was informed that the maintenance had been done even with the light on ee drove roughly 10 miles and the check engine light came on we took the car to auto zone and was advised it was the camshaft...they supposedly fixed it less than 8 miles from the dealership the light came on again . .my husband called to several different mechanics and landed here. They informed us that the maintenance had not been done on the car...so we thought great the dealership lied about doing the bare minimum until we found they basically cleaned the engine and sold us a lemon... after dropping 3k in a car we purchased 2 weeks ago the mechanic was very honest and told my husband they did what they could and we need to get out of the car...well unfortunately it can't pass emissions so we are stuck..the work they did allowed us to a least drive it locally to buy a working car ....I appreciate german auto group because they could have continued to charge us and we wouldn't have known but they showed us that there are still honest people in this world and there are not enough stars to give for that. I had to get a emergency repair as my M-B CLS55 just stopped on I-95. Fortunately it started again and hesitantly drove me to the next exit. There was the sign for German auto repairs. The car diagnostics did not show any problem. Dave and the Owner was determined to help me out even if it was late on Friday evening. I was given a loner car so I could get a hotel room. What I understand they stayed late that evening to diagnose and fix my problem. Next morning the car was re-assembled and tested and I was sent on my way to Florida. My car had a water pump failure while cruising on the highway this past weekend. So, I had the car towed to German Auto Group since they are located near my house. Dropped off the car and placed the key in the after-hour Dropbox. Around10:00am the next day I received a phone call from Johnny to let me know that the technician performed a leak test and confirmed that the water pump had failed. I was provided with a detailed repair order that included the parts required (by OEM part number and price). I did some research on my own to see what it would take to get this car back on the road based on other people's experience with this type of issue on a similar car (Porsche 997 Carrera S). The repair order was spot-on and consistent with the feedback provided by other individuals that experienced a similar issue. Now, the car seems to be working as designed. No issues noted. They even provided with the old parts for me to inspect!! IMPORTANT: The shop provides with a 12 month or 12k miles warranty on all new parts supplied by them. I said all that to say this--- I have nothing but positive feedback about this auto repair shop. Will use it again, for sure... Before visiting the German Auto Group, I went to many different so-called "specialty" repair facilities, to include the Audi dealership. Over $4200.00 later, the problem still existed as those specialty shops made costly assumptions at my expense. Frustrated, I went to the German Auto Group as a last resort and, after a diagnostic analysis, they found the problem and repaired it. I don't write reviews often but Tim and German Auto Repair treated me with the dignity and respect I look for in an establishment I am handing over my precious car that I love. I saved for my car since age 18 and drove a 98 Honda Civic my entire life before I bought the two door of my dreams. Tim took care of everything at half the price other chop shops were trying to get me for. One competitor even tried to charge me four times what Tim did. When I told him I had a quote from German Auto Group for a fourth of that, for the same work and if he had an explanation, he just hung up the phone on me and wouldn't return my calls. Substandard work. I had my windshield wiper motor replaced here, it worked for 25 minutes then it stopped, I took it back and they FORGOT THE BOLTS. 4 months later, the motor failed again, this time it simply went bad. Although they advertised using new parts with a warranty at the time of installation, they claimed that they used a refurbished part without a warranty. Additionally they tried to tell me I needed a $250 smoke test because of an indicator they were getting. I know a bit about cars, this was total BS. My gas cap was loose. UPDATE: 3 hours after I published the negative review I was threatened by Samuel T. the alleged owner of German Auto Group, we had the following exchange: "SAM: could you please send us the date that we serviced your car and your information so we can investigate your claim. Our smoke test is $ 89.00 not $ 250. We want to make sure that you brought your car to German Auto Group and if not we will be seeking legal venue if you gave a fake review. management" Samuel T, "The date of my windshield wiper motors failure was Feb 4, 2010, the shitty work was done sometime before that. As for seeking legal venue, there are many throughout the USA, I recommend using Google Maps. I also can tell you that I will not be at any legal venue. Perhaps you meant legal recourse. Either way, I was told over the phone that the smoke test would cost $225, with fees and taxes, it came out to somewhere close to $250. Whether your employee made a mistake, was trying to overcharge me, or you are simply lying to me will forever be a mystery. And no, you will not be getting my information.
