I want to start by saying that I work in customer service myself, so I understand that mistakes happen. I always try to give businesses the opportunity to make things right and don't like giving businesses a hard time unnecessarily. Unfortunately, my experience here reached a point that I found completely unacceptable. Back in December, my Audi S4 needed several repairs. Out of all the shops in the area, I trusted this business with the work and spent close to 5,000 in totals They had my vehicle for almost two weeks, which I understood considering the amount of work being performed. However, when I received the car back, it wasn't boosting properly. Eventually, after further inspection, they discovered a charge pipe had not been properly tightened and was loose. My hood was also misaligned and had to be corrected after I returned. On top of that, my car was returned to me with greasy fingerprints/handprints left on it from the work. By itself, that might seem minor, but combined with the loose charge pipe and misaligned hood, it gave me the impression that there wasn't much attention to detail when my vehicle was being worked on or before it was returned to me. I overlooked all of these things because mistakes happen and I wanted to give them the opportunity to make things right. Months later, less than a year after the original repairs, my vehicle began malfunctioning again. I brought it back, and the problems involved components related to the previous work. I brought up the warranty provided with my original repairs. Initially, the owner told me the warranty only covered parts, despite the warranty language I had on paper stating otherwise. That position was later corrected. They also wanted me to pay for an additional hose and told me replacing it was "mandatory" before they could complete the warranty work. My question was simple: if replacing this hose is mandatory with this repair, why wasn't it replaced when the work was originally performed in December? I asked multiple times for the Audi documentation or service information showing that this replacement was mandatory. I was never provided with it. Instead of simply explaining the technical reasoning behind what I was being charged for, the owner called me "stupid" while I was questioning the additional repair. That completely changed my opinion of this business. I'm not an Audi technician. That's exactly why I pay professionals thousands of dollars to work on my vehicle. A customer should be able to ask questions about what they're paying for without being insulted, especially after already spending thousands of dollars with that business. I overlooked the loose charge pipe. I overlooked the hood alignment. I overlooked my vehicle being returned with greasy fingerprints on it. I gave them multiple opportunities because I understand that mistakes happen. But personally insulting a customer for asking for an explanation and documentation is where I draw the line. Based on my experience, I genuinely cannot recommend this shop to anyone looking for high-quality repairs, strong attention to detail, accountability, and professional customer service. When you're spending thousands of dollars maintaining a performance vehicle, you should feel confident in both the workmanship and the people you're trusting with it. If you're particular about your vehicle and expect high-quality work, clear explanations, and professional treatment when something goes wrong, I strongly recommend doing your research and considering other reputable shops before bringing your vehicle here. I would rather spend more money elsewhere for the peace of mind of knowing my vehicle is being handled carefully and that I can ask questions without being disrespected. They've permanently lost my business. With making claims and not being able to provide evidence It almost seem like they were lying . Not good business . I will be attaching the quote of what was done and my messages with Sam who I believe is the owner and what they wanted to charge me again for . Came in for my BMW X5 N55 engine. These guys don't know what they're doing.. I had a simple issue that the car hesitate sometimes when driving the RPM goes up and down, which I believe after several research that has to do with the air intake. However, I went to a couple mechanics before this and they recommend to take it to a BMW specialized. I called this place and they said oh yeah we're specializing in BMW. And said that they will diagnostic and charge me for the diagnostic afterwards. which I said that's fine as long as we find out the issue so will not keep going to different mechanics. Therefore, he called me and said that I need valve cover replaced, the 2 oxygen sensors, maf sensor and map sensor all kinds of stuff estimated $5K. I was shocked cause I have replaced the valve cover 5000 miles before that issue occur. I told him are you sure about that?? And said, of course.. so I didn't trust that paid him the fees for the diagnostic went to a different Mechanic that works out of his garage for hobby and the first thing he said that needs to be done is a smoke test very simple so we can go from there. And guess what he found an air leak as I mentioned to Mechanic before and he didn't even charge me anything to fix it and boom right now it's the beast. So I won't recommend taking your German car specially the BMW to this place. A lot of mechanics they have no idea what they're doing!! read more

took my porsche here for overheating, was charged for having the thermostat replaced. car ran fine for a month and then overheated again, just took it in to have the water pump replaced and low and behold the thermostat that was "replaced" wasn't there at all, not even the old one. read more

These guys do decent work, but recently I had a problem picking up my vehicle after hours. Instead of placing the key on top of the tire as the customer requested, the repair shop (German Auto Repair) placed the key far above the tire in the spring and shock absorber assembly and failed to inform me of the changed location prior to me picking up the vehicle late at night in their parking lot. I would have never thought to look in this obscure location for the key. As a result, I looked for the key for 20 minutes and after not finding it, drove away and the key was lost. The repair shop has refused to accept any responsibility for this negligence or to make the situation right by replacing the key. As a result, the cost of my repair has now doubled to over $1000 for replacement of a couple of small parts (a sensor and oil separator). Knowledgeable mechanics, but unfortunately won't do the right thing in the end. read more

Moved from the burbs to Chicago. I had used there services for my regular maintenance before moving. I had a car issue and two places downtown Chicago couldn't even see me for a week let alone repair it. I called them they told me "no problem, as long as it's what you say it is and nothing extra we might find while making the repair". Sam took good care of me with my 4 wheel brake job on my 2016 Audi A4. Quick installation as they had two technicians worked on it at the same time. Clean facility and fair price. I brought in my own parts only because I wanted to use specific brake pads and rotors. No issues with the installation and the car brakes fine. Thank you Sam! read more

German Auto Repair is our family preferred auto shop for any issues with our vehicles. Sergey is extremely knowledgeable about electronics and we've worked with him prior to even opening his shop. It took a while to find a reliable, trustworthy and knowledgeable people like the guys in this shop but once we did we haven't looked elsewhere and we are extremely pleased with the service and expertise @ German Auto Repair!!! I was quoted more for a brake job here than the dealership! They attempted to fix my car and left it unfixed but demanded that I pay or put a mechanic's lien on my car. This place is doing repairs and then not fixing the cars and then telling me they need to charge me another fee for a diagnostic again on top of what they did. You bring your car here, it will leave with more problems. Stay away and find a good shop with good reviews that you can trust. The guy that runs this place is a shady guy that will put the lowest quality Asian parts on a German car and then charge you for the better parts. Bait and switched. A total waste of time and money. Don't pay cash as you won't be able to contest the charges when you realize they didn't fix your car. Worst shop I've ever been to. Dirty inside and out, talked down to like I didn't know what my car needed and yelled at as if I was a child. This guy threatened me and is lucky I didn't call the cops. BEWARE read more
