They should change their name to German 5 Star Automotive! Our Itasca RV (Mercedes Sprinter base) lost power and went into "Limp Mode" driving from Vancouver, WA to Mansfield, OH. We made it as far as Boise and began a mad search for a shop that could diagnose and repair the problem ASAP as we were on a tight schedule. I called several shops in the area. They could not take us that morning. More than one of them suggested calling German Star Automotive, so I did. They made room in their schedule, because we were traveling. I drove the RV to them that morning and noticed there was now an additional problem/noise with the front suspension. I asked them to look at that as well. We had a very tight schedule, so out of the abundance of caution we sought out a rental car. While we were picking up the rental, German Star called. They had already found and repaired the engine problem (a turbo leak). The suspension issue was a blown out shock. They could not fix that right away because they needed to wait a day for the part. I shared our schedule issue and they offered to store the RV for the ten days we would be gone for only $50. We gratefully accepted the offer and began moving our clothes and some of our food from the RV to our rental car. When the owner heard that we might run out of propane to keep our refrigerated and frozen items in the RV for the duration, he offered space in the refrigerator in their shop. At every turn this shop looked for solutions to all our concerns, even the ones that had nothing to do with our vehicle. Everyone was friendly, professional, and accommodating. I cannot recommend them highly enough. If we lived in Boise they would become my got to shop. Very, very impressed. read more

A/C went out at the peak of summer heat. Took it to my A/C guy. He proceeded to tell me it was beyond him and reccomended I find a good MBZ Dr. Because this diagnosis was beyond his expertise. I Searched for and found this company "German Star Automotive" When I arrived on my Diagnostic day. I was waiting to hear about the expensive part I was going to have to wait another day for. That didn't happen. The owner/mechanic diagnosed the issue to a low voltage fuse that had blown and he replaced it. Previous experience here is the BONUS! My bill was reasonable and I was on my way home with the A/C blowing again. This is an HONEST MECHANIC who specializes in MBZ vehicles. Clean shop, easy to find. I DEFINITELY will be using him again. This place is starting to reveal its scam artist ways the more times you come here for the same problems over and over again. We have been coming to this place for years now and it seems we are having the same problem with no advances done to the vehicle. The last time we was there, we were charged to take off the rim out the tire, after telling us the wheels are staggered and cannot be swapped. I have more stories on why not to come here anymore, along with a hand full of BETTER repair places. The pricing was very fair and I would definitely recommend this business to others. They even went out of their way to do a couple of other little things I asked for free. I took my BMW to them for an oil change because I was unhappy with the dealer although the dealer had a $99.95 oil change. I was quoted $140-$150 by German Star which I was willing to pay. I was also told that if I paid by check or cash there would be a 3% discount. When I picked up the car, the price for the oil change was $210.23 and was told the 3% discount only applied for cash and not checks. Since there is no cost to process checks, I would have to wonder why they insisted on cash for the discount. That sounds a little fishy! read more

Took my BMW in that would not start. Charged me $469 for a $175 Bosch starter and THREW THE OLD STARTER (New 10 miles ago and in warranty) IN THE TRASH. If you are a rich little old lady thIs is the place for you. All others should look elsewhere. read more

The first time I took my Mercedes in, the work was done well but I was told it needed some more work. I asked what it was, the reply: "I don't have the paperwork handy but I will call you". I did not receive call. When I called again, I was told to bring car in again because paperwork was lost. I took the car in again but it took two more phone calls to have estimate of repairs emailed to me. The work "needed" included * fuel filter ($180.00) which they had actually replaced themselves two months prior, tune-up, work related to a "one way clutch", and replacement of some other parts in the front end. All for a total of almost $1000.00. A little concerned, I took car to the dealer where it was confirmed that my car does not have a one-way clutch, the front end was fine, otherwise I would be hearing noise, the fuel filter did not need replacement, nor did I did a tune up. In other words, my car sounded and ran perfectly. They do good work, but make sure that you really need that work. Also, make sure you keep all your records because they sure don't, nor are they good with follow up. read more

Ken is great to work with. Tells me what I need and doesn't take advantage of me. I drop my car off and it's ready when he says it will be. He even works on some Saturdays. I had a problem with my AC, he checked it for nothing and put me at ease that is was more than just an AC charge. He's replacing all my belts in the car next week. Brought my S-Class into these guys to have the PSE Pump programmed. They were quick and charged a reasonable price to do it, one company in Nampa charges double the price and would have taken 3 hours compared to the 30 mins they took. They were friendly and didn't try to give me the run around on price or tried to get me to fix a bunch of things like the dealership. Definitely bringing my Benz back for other things that need worked on! Would definitely recommend! read more

Ken stands by the work that comes out of his shop and has proven that to me a few times now. When I bought a Mercedes from him that he had rebuilt in December, 2014 he guaranteed that there were no mechanical problems with the car. On a couple occasions some problems arose that he could not have foreseen, and he fixed them out of his own pocket. This is definitely a shop you can trust to do good work and not to take advantage of you.
