They have a huge selection of all different types of produce - fruits and vegetables, many I've never tried before but will eventually. They also have an amazing deli counter with probably the best pricing around. With good pricing, their cold cuts turn over quickly so you know you are always getting something fresh. While they used to be the least expensive store for just about everything, we've also seen their prices climb over the years. But compared to the large grocers in the area like Jewel, they are much less expensive. Shopping at Valli can be fun - you'll see things you've never seen before. Lots of people shop there so also be prepared for lines at their checkout counters. But, it's all worth it.

Just plain miserable people work there. I started to walk back to the place where I knew those heavy duty bags were and they started to have a conniption. You think you can do what you want! yelled the black man. I said yes. I do. He followed me out of the store and then started harassing me calling me white privileged woman. I was unlocking my bike and he said something about you want to meet mah wife! (Threatening me?) and I said she can get some exercise on a bike (I just couldn't help it but I didn't see her so I didn't know it was obvious she was out of shape because he yelled "you callin mah wife fat bitch? !" Two hostile faces were eyeing me at that point. And this guy works there harassing me outside. Wow. This is the bad side of Evanston. I was told I should call the police because it's other incidents like that could happen and this guy is insane. And the other employees are extremely hostile as well. Let's see if BBB should be contacted. If there is surveillance you will see all of it this evening. Sunday May 31st when they closed at 9:00 p.m. Honestly, I have noticed the staff who run the store the ones behind the counter have evil eyes. Evil looks. Evil attitudes. Dark souls. And they do exist. My experience at valli seals my understanding that there is evil in the world.

This was the first time we had ever had adult beverages at Caputo's much less at any grocery store. We have been shopping at Caputo's sine they opened up years ago. But this was the first time having drinks at their bar. I'm scared to tell you what a hidden gem this bar is, for fear that it will be spoiled by everyone else coming for drinks. A big shoutout to our bartender "Danny" who was OUTSTANDING!!! We had a bottle of red wine Zenato Ripassa, two Lemmon Martinis (perfectly made), two "perfect" Aperol Spritzs & two draft beers. We also ate Colleen's breadsticks with Gouda plain cheese, buffalo crispy chicken wraps, homemade tortilla chips with red and green salsa. Business reselling Amish items. Prices seem well below retail on the few items they carry but produce and such fresh items are only passable and look to have seen better days. Dairy, bread and canned goods are interesting. Due to lack of preservatives the daily baked bread seems to go stale by end of day, so I got the inexpensive French mini loaf tossed in for free. Was planning on Air fryer toasting that into crostini anyway... so score. The drop in a star was due to the iffy customer service.
