Several years ago, I gave a solid 5-star review to Getz Automotive for the work they did on my vehicle (while in their old location). I stand by those (then) comments. Just recently, I brought my vehicle down to them at their new location and talk about a gorgeous (huge) facility. Resembling more of the large professional service facilities that you've seen in large new car dealerships, Getz Automotive was definitely aiming to make a statement. When you first walk in, there is the customer service desk where you are greeted, and to the left of that is a large, updated waiting area with a large flat screen TV on the wall. To the right of the waiting area are the maintenance bays - and when you look through the window, the first thing that strikes you is how clean everything looks - again, just like the professional service areas that you've seen at new car dealerships. Everyone is super friendly to be sure. Now, rather than go into what was accomplished during my latest visit, suffice it to say that on this visit, I ran into some issues that were addressed in a very timely manner by the store manager, Tim. It becomes immediately obvious that the folks at Getz are quite conscientious about customer satisfaction, and they'll do what it takes to make things right. There are several areas that I would like to highlight: 1. First are the techs/mechanics - as these are not your typical mechanics that you might run into at some of the numerous hole-in-the-wall private auto service establishments. The techs at Getz are of a high caliber, able to diagnose problem areas that can elude some of the competition. 2. When it's time to pick up your vehicle, if you don't have a ride to bring you in - not to worry, as Getz will call an Uber driver for you. Not many (none that I can recall) auto service centers do that (unless you've purchased a new vehicle and brought it into that car dealership service center - and even then, not all dealerships provide transportation). So you really can't go wrong by taking your vehicle (whether new or old) to Getz Automotive. Yes, you may pay a bit more, but then you'll know that you received the attention you are looking for, along with a level of mechanical competence that your vehicle deserves. This is my first time visiting GETZ. This is about to be a real unbiased review!!! New to this area location so finding a good repair shop is always a challenge. I've got a Tahoe truck that I've had for 18yrs. I think I know it pretty well inside and out and its fairly easy to work on for a novice DIY guy like myself. For the first time I got a code I'd never seen P1810 for a transmission pressure plate switch. I did some research, after driving my vehicle, trying to clear the code on my own and it returned, I knew this was an electrical issue and was certain it was the TFP switch. Knowing that this required some transmission work, I checked around to my go to shop at Firestone and another shop.... They didn't offer repair work on transmissions. So I gave a call to GETZ because I'd seen their shop while on a lunch run and they had high reviews. I called them and talked to Jimmy, very nice guy, extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I explained to him what was going on and that I needed the TFP switch replaced. He got me set up with an appointment. I dropped my truck off and Jimmy kept me up to date with all the service test being conducted. Eventually after the tech did an outstanding inspection and diagnostic of the initial condition of my vehicle, I was impressed. After multiple test on the transmission, the tech finally duplicated the issue and found that the TFP switch needed to be replaced. They ordered the part, got it fixed and after a day of driving I noticed a much more firm shift, obviously the repair worked. The pictures of the old part shows that it was completely trash and I'm lucky it never failed while driving. Getz did a fantastic job, I left a few pictures that they sent me. They use a very modern system of customer notification that includes video uploads and pictures, such as a loose battery cable that I actually intentionally leave it loose for my own usage. Id only seen this level of service and video/picture similar at the Lexus dealership and even Lexus was not this good. I would whole heartedly recommend Getz and will probably use them again. The early bird drop off and after hours pick up was also super easy!!!! Here's why I deducted the 1 star and this is strictly my experience.... They charged me a diagnostic fee of $180, only to come to the same conclusion that I had initially scheduled the vehicle for the service. It felt unnecessary in my situation because I came with a very specific request knowing which part needed to be replaced. I did not bring my truck in and say "my transmission is messing up, let's check it out"..... then I would understand a diagnostic fee, that would be very appropriate. I figured this is their standard business process, so it's something to keep in mind that you're out $180 before the repair even starts and that money doesn't go toward the repair. So that's my only issue and luckily it's not a deal breaker. They did find another savings in the repair service that offset. Which for all other reasons made the knowledge of the diagnostic useful if I had other unknown issues, but in my case I didn't. Getz gets the job done right. Chris and Garrett are very professional, and this was my third repair. However, I have a few points to mention. In my opinion, they're quite expensive. My recent repair was quoted much higher than another shop, and when I provided the lower quote, they claimed it wasn't valid because the labor wasn't itemized, even though the part cost was clear. Second, expect delays. I dropped my car off Sunday for a Monday repair, but it was delayed due to the wrong part(s) being ordered. However, let me say, Garrett did stay late Wednesday to ensure my repair was done and ready for pickup after hours, but I was not able to pick it up until Thursday. Lastly, I asked for a discount due to the delays, it was given, but reallocated within other fees. All in all - Great work, but pricey with some delays. I dropped off my 2016 orange Veloster for transmission issues and ended up with a crushed passenger door and dangling mirror. My car has 76,000 miles and had never been in an accident until Getz's "little mishap in the shop" as they described it. We were urged not to file a claim and that they would ensure the damages were repaired entirely. After my door and mirror were repaired a week later, we were told we should come by to see the car. They claimed it looked absolutely perfect and my mirror cap would be painted and put on within a few days. Upon arrival, I immediately noticed there was still several scratches in the clear coat and a chunk of missing paint down to the metal on my passenger door that had not been addressed. My concerns regarding the quality of the repair were dismissed, reiterating to us that the vehicle "looked perfect" to them. I was told the car was now completely done and I could pick it up anytime. Frustrated, I went to pickup my car despite the shoddy work as I needed to get it over to Hyundai to fix my initial problem, the transmission since it had already been over a week of having no vehicle. I got into my car and quickly realized my windows were left open for who knows how long!!! The utter disregard and unprofessionalism is appalling. Not only did they devalue my car, suggest we don't tell anyone about the damage, perform improper/incomplete repairs, and leave me (a college student, during the chaos of finals) car-less for over a week, but also treated my property like garbage while it was parked on their lot. Do not EVER bring your vehicle to Getz, I wouldn't even trust them with a cup of water. Do yourself a favor and "Getz" a new repair shop because this one is beyond shady. read more

I was charged high diagnostic charges to determine the repair for heating and rear hatch not closing properly on my 2018 BMW X5D. After the repairs were determined I was told it would cost around 2K to repair. The technician said he was sending me a link to pay 50% upfront. I told him I was uncomfortable with this and would not pay upfront. He told me that it was their policy. At no point in the process was I made aware of this policy. I asked him to provide me a repair estimate with separate labor costs and parts costs and he stated that he could not. read more

Unfortunately, my expectations were not met. I brought in my Ford F150 to Getz for my air conditioner blower not moving the air and rear back up camera intermittently working. Discussed needs with the Ethan the advisor beforehand. I was reassured they could fix the problems. Long story short, nearly $400.00 spent on air conditioner issues that were NOT resolved and almost $200.00 spent on what they thought they repaired on the back up camera - but had NOT repaired. Ended up spending nearly $900.00 essentially for an oil change and a new battery (that I didn't know I needed) and taking home my truck with the two main problems still needing to be repaired. Terrible experience. I dropped my daughter's car off on a Monday for a transmission diagnostic it was completed the same day. I however, could not pick up her vehicle due to their negligence. They backed up a truck into my daughter's car, damaging her mirror and side panel. They had her car for over a week to have a third-party repair it..still missing paint. They devalued her vehicle and never supplied a rental. Don't let the reviews fool you. Pick a different shop this one ain't it!! read more

Took my BMW to these guys twice. the first time they seemed alright but the second time I was waiting for my ride and seen the mechanic speeding around the block in my car and when they pulled it around back they started revving my car at the back. They did my front brakes and ended up cutting the brake sensor on the driver left side and they also did my oil change and everything since my car has been leaking oil from the drain plug. I contacted them and left a voicemail and they never responded. I just found out they over torqued my lugs WAY TOO MUCH (over 220 WHICH IS DOUBLE) and ended up breaking tools over it. read more

My husband was the first to try this place due to a Google search for the best place to fix his Saturn. He took his car in a year ago for an oil leak that 2 other places stated they completely fix. However, the leak was still unfixed and he took it to Getz. He set the appointment and spoke with Chris, who has been taking care of us ever since. They were able to fix the leak completely and found some other issues that caused it. We were not on the mailing list so no coupons for his first visit but were have been only going to Getz ever since. My car was taken to the chevy dealership due to my warranty for an oil leak and they "fixed it" 3 times. My husband told me not to take it to the dealership anymore and let Getz fix it and they have taken care of my car as well! They make sure to tell us everything that is and could be wrong with our cars. We love that they send pictures of the car and areas for recommendations. They also send the quote via email for approval. They can be busy and it can take a week to get your car in but it's so worth it. Highly recommended! read more

I recently brought my 2013 camry in with potential transmission issues and it cost me 700$ for a diagnostic and fluid change. My transmission needed to get replaced as found by the tests and I was then quoted 10k to rebuild such. They were very transparent about the process but the prices here are astonishing. I would have left a decent review but, after I recommend getz to my girlfriend to get her transmission looked at and her experience here, has made me never want to recommend getz again. read more

As a result of a brochure received in the mail, I discovered Getz Auto, who advertised they work on German-made cars. BINGO! No more dealing with the hassle of taking my German-made car to the dealership, which was never a pleasant experience. Made an appointment with Getz for the 40K-mile check and discovered that Getz's price was $200 less than the Dealership's cost! (Getz registered the 40K-Tune Up with the German-made car company so that the warranty was covered.) Over Labor Day weekend, I had a blown tire. Getz fixed the situation and was $50 less than I paid at the dealership when another tire was replaced. Garret, the Getz Service Rep, is knowledgeable and places positive emphasis on the customer. Went for diagnoses on car and told them we needed it back the same night they said no problem, the car was dropped off at 8am. Close to closing we called and they said they haven't even looked at it yet and we couldn't have it back till tomorrow. they didn't update us, we had to keep calling to figure out what was happening. when we were finally able to go get the vehicle and we find out they didn't find out what was wrong but still charged us about $225 for nothing and when we tried to ask questions the guy had the worst attitude. he acted so annoyed that we wanted answers. i asked for a diagnostic on a specific problem and they told us our door was rattling, it wasn't. They tried to tell us it was because we had a lowering kit on the car and we told them the noise was happening before that so it wasn't that and they insisted we were wrong and it was the lowering springs. When I left I put it on jack and found out it was the lower control arm bolt wasn't torqued properly. Had they done an actual diagnosis like they said they would, they would've found this problem within the first few hours of having the car but they were too careless not to. UPDATE AS OF NOVEMBER 1ST* As promised in the reply to this review, the management team and owner did reach out to me to correct things. They were very eager to fix the relationship with me as well as issue me a refund for my diagnostics fee which shows integrity towards customers. The owner said one of the workers were dealing with a personal issues, and the way it was worded made it seem like it was okay to treat their customers as I was as they deal with that hardship. I hope everything is resolved with that matter but if someone feels anger still from lack of grieving, maybe the company should give them some more time off to avoid any issues with customer service. This is just my experience, take this review with a grain of salt as it might be completely opposite of mine. One great thing is that good or bad, the company will insure you're taken care of in the end and make sure whatever issues are resolved for the sanity of the company. Had my car fixed by them as I cant do much work due to my surgery. These guys were told exactly what to do and they still charged me diagnosis fees, infact they charged for their toilet paper too on the invoice. Exorbitant hourly rates, they proudly tell me that they make extra money on parts too. A total rip off to the nearby community, heck there is no decent auto shop left anymore, no wonder there are so many auto stores around that DIY'ers prefer to do the work themselves. Last night i helped a neighbor replace his steering pump and hoses for a minivan, these guys quoted $900. At the end, I supervised the work on the driveway, parts were $80 and my 18 yr old soon did the work in 2 hours. read more

I chose Getz for a few reasons. The first being I met Jack when he was with the Johnny Orr band years ago. I always knew him to be diligent, knowledgeable and passionate about vehicles even a decade ago. What a rare thing to find people who love what they do. However, none of that means I'm going to entrust thousands of dollars to anyone until I get recommendations and references. I asked everyone I knew. I asked people where a personal acquaintance would not be a factor in their rating. Everyone lavished praise. I was told not to go anywhere else. Ok, so I didn't. The issues.... The issues were excellent issues to have. The first one was someone named Jimmy dealt with me from beginning to end. Each time I walked in everyone knew who I was and ensured the same person dealt with me. That to me is superior customer service. I work a lot. I don't have time to explain things over and over and over again. Additionally, Jimmy texted me instead of calling. I work in IT. My phone is off all day. If I get a moment to glance down I'm not going to listen to a voicemail. Everything was paperless. Environmental friendly. Hitting the balls out of the park here. I am never late. There were a few times I was there before they opened due to my work hours being exactly the same as their hours. Those doors did not open late. I was able to get back to quickly back to work. The work performed on my vehicle? Hahah. They fixed something someone else had broken. The someone else had broken it so badly by the time Jimmy asked what was wrong all I could do was say, "I have no idea. It went crazy, locked up, died, limp mode, freaked me out. I genuinely have no idea now though because wires that weren't messed up before are now." Jimmy's reply, "no problem". WOW!! Now THAT was something I finally needed to hear in my life. The worst thing about getting your car fixed is giving it to a mechanic and wondering if you can trust them. After a shop in Kinston messed up my 06 bug headlight replacement Getz got their turn. They replqced one headlamp bucket but picking the car up at 5pm hid the fact that the lights were aimed SO high that night driving was impossible. A second visit corrected most of the problem but on the way home to Kinston the car made weird noises. Finally we went to Sport Durst VW. They found a disconnected turbo hose, replaced the other headlight bucket and got them aimed correctly. The Getz people are fair and VERY nice but in my case seemed to cause as many problems as they fixed. It is a good and honest shop though for standard automotive work. read more

I brought my 2014 Jeep to change a fog light and drain water from my driver-side door. My appointment was scheduled for 10:00 am I was there at 9:30 am. I noticed there were a lot of cars and they were busy. That was confirmed when I went inside. I patiently waited until 11:00 am to ask about the status of my vehicle. I was told they are now reviewing my car. After 30 minutes, I was advised to drain my car. It will cost me $77.00, which is fine; After a few minutes later, I was told the light bulb I previously had in the jeep was aftermarket, which I was unaware of as this is a used car I purchased almost two years ago. They said they would need to change both lights to match. I requested it is a halogen light. They said I was being charged $239.00 to switch both fog lights, which I thought was outrageous. He added it's the highest grade (I googled the price. Even the highest quality of Sylvania is not that expensive). I asked how much the light was, but he avoided answering my question. At the same time, I noticed his coworker was busy speaking to another coworker and stopped what he was doing to listen to the conversation, which I thought was odd. It's like he knew that price didn't sound right but didn't say anything. At this point, I had to go, so I agreed to pay after waiting another hour. I was told they could change the fog light for the ride side, but on the left side, the wiring is wrong. Mind you; it's now lunchtime. A customer who came after me was taken care of, and now the office is pretty much empty. He did advise me it would take 30 min to drain the car, which I was okay with, but we are coming up on 2 in half hours of being there. He then advised me he knew I needed to get out of there, so I should come back to change the left light because the wiring on the left side was messed up, and they will need to order a connector. As a courtesy, he will not charge me for the connector but will charge me an additional $28.00 for labor. So when I come back, they can pop in the connector and change the light bulb ( again, I googled the connector, and it's inexpensive, but he played it up like he was doing me a favor). I ended up paying $267.00 for changing a light bulb, and when I asked for a breakdown, he stated oh, we don't do itemized billing which is a lie because I came to Getz two times prior and received a breakdown with no problem, and labor was not expensive. They charged me this much before noticing the wiring was wrong. Regardless if I had an aftermarket light bulb, it's not much work to pull out a light bulb and change it. I feel I was taken advantage and I'm unsure as to why. I'm very disappointed that I had to pay almost $300 for a fog light change. On my prior visit, I dealt with another gentleman who sat at the back desk who was helpful, detailed and patient. The guy I dealt with yesterday sat closer to the window near the entrance and avoided answering my question on price. I guess this will be the last time I go to Getz. It's unfortunate because my prior experience was great. Update: 12/7/22 I spoke to the manager; he wasn't much help when it came to the price and pretty much said it is what it is, but he did state he will look into the cost and clarified the price includes a three-year warranty. They had to order the connector. Chris paid out of his own pocket because he felt bad how long I had to wait the initial time. The cost of the connector was more than I expected. Thank ran into some problems but that due the my car not in there part. overall they wanted to make sure I was taken care of and were able to fit me in to put in the connector so that the light bulb would fit perfectly. I hate how the experience started, but I appreciate them still being able to rectify the problem. I can't entirely agree with the price, but as the manager said, it is what it is. In the beginning I was upset with Chris but through the process he did try his best and always kept me up to date with everything. read more

Basically it boils down to is the cars that I have responsibility for belong to people I love. I need them to be safe and reliable. This place "Getz" that and they do a comprehensive inspection every time and alert me with things i must do right away, the things i should do and optional preventative care. All with pictures and clear explanations and upfront pricing on the work to be done. you can then choose the services from the list and add up the cost to fit YOUR budget. Since i own 6 cars, this works especially well for me since i can do little items like brakes and rotors and oil changes myself to save my family a little extra money. There is no high pressure salesman or anyone making you feel pressured to have services done that are not really required. So everything else is icing on the cake. Professional office staff, easy payment etc. Clean waiting room and they do oil changes and routine maintenance but way better that your average Jiffy 10 minute oil change place. read more

Recently went in for what appeared to be a small issue that was found to be a result of a visit at another local shop. Not even sure how to rate them. Brought in my Subaru Forester back in April 2016 for a timing belt and water pump for $900. 2.5 yrs, 30,000 miles later and my car is in the shop again. Was told it's the water pump. Called Getz and was told there's only a 12 month warranty on the part they replaced. Am I upset? Yes. Do I feel the shop should be partly responsible for replacing and covering the repair? You bet. Will I take it to them to fix. No. I've had the timing belt and water pump replaced twice before and never had a problem. My water pump should not have failed at 30,000 miles. Won't take it to this garage again. read more

I took my car to Getz in May to get it fixed. They had my car for 3 weeks and charged me a whooping $2700. 4 days later my car broke down on I-95 S. They just slapped an expensive band aid on the problem and when I asked the owner to make it right, he refused. Please don't go here. They take advantage of young, single females. read more

If you need a mechanic in the FV area, you NEED to go to Getz. They are the best. They are very thorough with their diagnostic. So if you go and you "know" what's wrong with the car, what work needs to be done, etc., they will still inspect the vehicle for any other failures. Based on reading some other reviews, some people seem to find this frustrating. I, however, REALLY appreciate this. Our minivan broke down after indicating that the alternator had failed. I called Getz to see if they could squeeze me in and work on it as time allowed them to. After they looked at it they called me and said "your alternator is bad...because it's covered with oil". They sent me pictures of where the oil was leaking to show me what is going on. So, rather than just replace the alternator and allow that one to short out as well, they diagnosed and repaired my oil leak (and replaced the alternator) and sent me on my way. This beats breaking down again because of a "bad alternator". I can't recommend them enough. read more

OMG! A great place to go if you have scads of money and dont mind parting with it quickly and stupidly. My car had intermittent firing issues with the engine., I first took my car to a different place in Fuquay that I have frequented for years. The owner plugged in a diagnostic reader and 30 seconds later said"Its your #2 cylinder. it isn't firing probably a bad coil. We"ll replace the coil and spark plug." Cost I asked? $175-$185 tops but we're backed up for almost two weeks." What do I owe you for checking it out? I asked,,,,he replied-"Nothing..." Ok so i needed the car for some important holiday events this weekend so took it to Getz . We already knew what the problem was but they had to check it out of course and understandably, so I left it.They gave it the same 1 minute computer diagnostic as the other place or that you would get at advance auto for no cost. .. They called and offered the exact same conclusion as the other place but gave me a quote of $541..300% more than my usual guy. I couldn't justify that massive price disparity so went to get my car back and they charged me $90 for the same diagnostic as the other place...They were going to get their pound of flesh one way or another...I looked at the estimate. I was charged for hazardous supplies and shop supplies...you sure generate a lot of hazardous waste and use a lot of shop supplies when you plug in a computer. It took them 3 minutes to bring in the car to the shop and three back out and two minutes for the diagnostic so theyre basically charging approximately $600 an hour for labor....might explain their 300% higher quote. Do not under any circumstance use this shop! We had a repair done and have nothing but residual problems ever since. They seem to be incompetent or just don't care about their customers. Every time we have gone back, we end up with another issue. They had our vehicle for 5 WEEKS with no repair, no phone call no estimate. We get the vehicle back and it is still not fixed. We called them to bring the vehicle back and let them know we were on the way. We arrived 5 minutes late due to the distance and traffic and they closed and refused to provide service. I have NEVER dealt with such an unprofessional, incompetent or uncaring group of mechanics in my life. They give the profession a bad name. read more

These guys are crooks. I have been there twice and had terrible service each time. They quote you one price and then after the work is done charge you way more than the quote. I will not be returning there. read more
