If I could give this shop zero stars I would. I had my 2007 Toyota Sienna towed to this location as I couldn't shift it out of neutral. They charged me a 189 diagnosic fee and said it would be $1317.00 to fix the problem. They said the shift cable was broken at shifter. I've been coming here since moving to Raleigh in 2010 (and used to drive my car over from Cary) upon the recommendation of a friend whose family used them for years. I'm not married, so I'm always wary of car places as we know how it can often go. That doesn't happen here. I have never felt pressured to quickly make a decision on the spot. They're up front about the risks, long term options, estimates costs, estimated time you have left before having to make a repair, etc. I have always taken their recommendations as good advice and them wanting me to stay safe. Randy, the owner, is typically in the shop which is always good to see. He always comes out to say hello and see how things have been (and compliment my choice of RDX). Brad manages the front desk/phone/appointments and is always very friendly, helpful, and answers my many questions with patience (and not seeming exasperated that a woman doesn't understand every aspect of vehicles). I enjoy seeing these guys! I guess it can be both a bad and good sign when the shop guys know your name when you call up! :) They don't see me as much since I bought a new car, but their service is just the same: great. As of today October 21, 2024 I was told that after 7 years as a auto mechanic that my ES 359 Lexus after 120,000 miles cars need front and rear shock and struts, radiator hose, upper and lower hose replacement and a four wheel alignment. This cost was about 5k. After call a Lexus dealership and looking a my car manual I learned that this was disinformation. If I didn't do my own research I would have been out of several thousand dollars for nothing. Prior I gave this business 5 stars until I decided to do my own research. I had to come to NC from GA as my father was unexpectedly in the ICU at WakeMed. I was hearing grinding from my car all the way to NC and was scared to drive it from the hotel to the hospital, and especially scared to drive it home. I had limited time, and when I called Quality Plus for help, Damian said they had a packed schedule, but they found a way to fit me in and looked at my car and fixed it for me. They understood the urgency, my fear for my safety, and they went above and beyond just to help me out. I was also impressed that they have a web based system that texted me a link to view the inspection information, pictures of the issue, and the estimated cost. To top it all off, after they fixed it, they left a thank you note with a cookie in my car. We really like quality plus. However two of the people I really appreciated Roger and Brad are no longer there. I loved tge fact that both of them are very personable and very practical and never pushed us to do anything that wasn't necessary. That is a disappearing quality even in small business. Two of the best employees with regard to customer service and vehicle knowledge have either been let go or moved on. REVISED: usually its veyr good quality and they have saved my life w my older car that was 19 years old. this was when brad and roger worked there. but now they no longer work there. Since then, I have witnessed no more personable relationship and some tones are negative. One guy was a bit rude a couple of months ago and it was over something (may have been over spark plugs -- can't remember)... but it was the tone and he said how i rejected it last time. .but moving to next thing. Today I called and was on hold for awhile, as someone but me on hold. when matt picked up i told him i was on hold for awhile...he didn't even say he was sorry or acknowledge it. am i being too sensitive maybe??? .... I asked for quote or just a rough estimate on a new alternator... and he told me he coudlnt' give it. that is all i was looking for...i was in a hurry ... so i went with a different mechanic who gave me a rough estimate.... and it turned out all i needed was a battery. so maybe they can find a way to be a lil more personable. I have been a good faithful customer -- especially my my older car...now i have a diff car and its about 5 years old now. This is saddening to write after using them for 20+ years on all our cars. But the latest incident was the last straw. Last year, our household spent over $6000 on two Acura's normal maintenance. One instance, we had to tow the car in three times for the same repair. Over the years, they got things right the first time. We have recently relocated away from the shop to the other side of town. The dealership for our Avalon was close by. Sure, we would pay more there. They told us that car needed $2500 in repairs. We called Quality Plus for an estimate on the same repair and they quoted the same exact price. We were always told and the common falsehood is that a dealership was 25% more for labor, so we were saving money using an independent. Logical, since they have less overhead. Being cheaper is relative to who you are working with. I called Randy, the Owner of Quality Plus, about this and he no explanation why he was the same price. A month ago, on a trip to Florida, my Acura dashboard lit up like a Xmas tree with lights I have never seen before. I had the car checked and they found twice the amount of transmission fluid installed as recommended. It was very nasty looking and smelled wrong. They changed it and the car is OK for now. But, this mistake may have destroyed the transmission as I was 700 miles away. We shall see. We were charged by Quality Plus for all the normal fluid changes, so it was obvious who made the mistake. It is obvious that Quality Plus added the fluid without removing the old. We were charged for the removal and addition plus filter, but obviously it was not done. The above mechanic, not associated with Quality Plus, also changed the fuse on the navigation console that had not worked for the last six months. Randy said the entire console had to be removed and sent to the dealership for repair. In our opinion, it was not worth the trouble to fix. Thanks to the new mechanic, it works fine now. All it needed was a fuse and five minutes of time. The point of this is to be wary. We blindly trusted Quality Plus to be competent and honorable. The owner of a business needs to oversee their employees to make sure they are competent. In Quality Plus case, I believe they now just hire their mechanics off Craigslist. Until called on it, a repair shop makes more money with the incompetence of their mechanics. We, as the customer, have to pay for all their suggestions even if they were not necessary or the cause of the problem. The only way an owner will care is when we tell everyone what has happened. If you continue blindly and use them, like our family did, that is your fault now when you get fleeced. Before I wrote this, I felt obligated to speak with the owner, and all he agreed to was to part ways after 20+ years. Hopefully, we can just part ways quietly. We shall see if my transmission goes out soon. He will hear from me again. read more

Brad was so nice! The dealer wanted $300 to diagnose my car when it stopped running. I googled Nissan mechanics and quality plus automotive came up. They charged a fraction of the price the dealer wanted. My car was towed to them right before it closed. The next morning, they called and told me what was wrong and the price to get the car running again. He also told me the total price of recommended items that should be fixed. He said he'd order the part and it would be fixed before they closed. He called me to let me know it was fixed even earlier. I had brought my car in for service, which I had done many times before, because the "service engine soon" light came on and the car was making strange sounds. They looked over the car and informed me that the car needs a new engine! I was shocked since it was bought new (2004), well cared for and only 131K on the clock. They changed the oil and I picked up the car. Soon after, the service light disappeared, and the following day the car passed inspection. It was running smooth and fine. This was several months ago. The original alternator blew 2 weeks ago and I was afraid to bring it back in, so I was referred by a friend a great mechanic in Durham. They replaced the alternator and all is fine. The bill was actually less than their reasonable estimate. I am sorry that I was afraid to return to Quality Plus. As of today (so far), the car runs like new, is quiet and smooth. Sadly, I can only conclude that the issue was misdiagnosed and a $6800 engine replacement (their estimate) was avoided. I was highly upset and disappointed. They are nice people but nice and professional are different things. read more

I could NOT be without a vehicle for more than a day or two at the MOST because it was the ONLY car we had that would fit all of our children and my oldest did NOT need to miss anymore school... My car takes synthetic oil, so it's always a little more expensive so I figured I'd try them out and get a few dollars off. I couldn't be happier with the service I received! I'm so unhappy with my car repair here. I went in 10/2/2018 for a inspection because my car was making a noise. My front driver ball joint needed to be replaced - $425. Three days later I started to hear the same exact noise coming from the opposite side of my car. I went back and the mechanic said I now needed the passenger side replaced. WHY DID HE NOT SAY THAT THE FIRST TIME I WAS THERE?! So not only was I hearing the left side of my car make a noise I was also hearing the right side - it's just that the left side was louder than the right at the time. Instead he was trying to tell me I need a $500 radiator fan and it's 40 degrees in NC. An effective conversation would have been "Hey Skye, not only does your left ball joint need replaced but the right side too." No one ever told me that until today, when I went back. So they offered to not do the $80 - 90 alignment - which by the way was something I was told was needed the first time I went there bc they have to take apart the suspension to replace the ball joint. AND offered to replace the ball joint at another $214 for labor and $85 for parts...not including tax. I have no problem at all paying for the part, but another $214 for labor to take apart my car AGAIN when you were already doing that the FIRST TIME. So basically it would cost me a little under $800, two visits to this shop, and time off of work to get my car repaired fully. So disappointed will not be returning or recommending. read more

Major Unnecessary Repairs: I took two different cars in. On the newer vehicle I was told that I needed $1600 of front end suspension work. I consulted others: a dealer, a brand-name tire shop, my engineer and car-tinkering neighbor, and another very positively reviewed mechanic. All four independent sources were unanimous in saying nothing was wrong with the car. For the second car, much older, I was told the rear main seal was leaking and would need to be replaced - for $700-800. The above highly regarded mechanic said instead there was absolutely no sign of any leak. Furthermore, he described the radiator "Quality Plus" had just replaced as the cheapest available, only one step above "salvage." Plus it hadn't been installed properly. Only go here if you know someone who works there. They charged me for a 'fan' that wasn't necessary, and the car was running worse when I picked it up than when I left it there (the repair was for something other than the engine). While it was in the shop, they had asked me if I wanted new spark plugs, and I said 'no.' Oddly, that was the very thing that was suddenly bad when I picked it up. On the plus side, they did excellent work for the repair that I brought it in for in the first place; they obviously are excellent mechanics. However, I have a suspicion that they thought I didn't know anything about autos and tried to pad the charge, as well as create the need for future repairs. read more
