But who is thinking reviews when you lose a loved one. Mary had all sorts of excuses. When we finally picked up the ashes i mentioned the poor reviews. All she said was "people were upset". The outdoor commons area was beautiful for a mid-April service, the indoor area for the funeral was very bright, clean, fresh, spacious and welcoming, and the reception room was clean and prepped when we arrived. My only complaints were that we had been told the table cloths for the reception would be cream colored but they were gold and brown polka dots. They didn't go with the pre-planned table centerpieces, and there wasn't time to get new ones. We had also been told there would be table cloths for the Memory Table at the service, but I didn't realize they only had a bright red one. Double check on these before your gathering.

My uncle served this country for 20 years, and our family expected his military funeral to be handled with the care, dignity, and attention to detail that he deserved. His daughter was assured by Blaze that everything had been arranged for his military funeral at Fort Bliss. Based on those assurances, our family trusted that they could arrive knowing everything was in place. When my father and cousin arrived at Fort Bliss, nothing had been scheduled. Thankfully, the VA went above and beyond to try to pull something together for our family at the last minute. We are extremely grateful for their efforts. However, because of the funeral home's failure to properly make the arrangements, my uncle did not receive the full military funeral service he deserved after dedicating his life to serving this country. What makes this even more upsetting is that the funeral home acknowledged that Blaze knew she had messed up. Yet the apology that followed felt forced and half-hearted, rather than reflecting the seriousness of what had happened. A funeral is not something you get to redo. There is no opportunity to go back and give a family member the service they should have received. The lack of organization, communication, accountability, and care displayed during this process is extremely troubling. After reading other negative reviews describing similar concerns, it is difficult not to question whether meaningful changes are actually being made. Families place an enormous amount of trust in funeral homes during some of the most painful moments of their lives. That trust should be met with professionalism, compassion, and attention to every detail--not excuses after the fact.

In my experience with Restlawn, they made sure the family I was assigned to needed for nothing. Their funeral home is well equipped and intimate. I mean to say that it is set up for one event/one family at a time. Truly the team will take care of you the entire time, without the distraction of competing for resources during remembrance/celebration of your family member's life. They can provide a variety of services. They can provide overnight and extended visitation on their grounds, or arrange for visitations at your home if you want. They are bilingual and have the options of Latin music, if that's your flavor. In my expeir nice on the day of the remembrance, the team welcomed me early and made sure I had what I needed to support my assigned family (I was a Casualty Assistance Officer). They hosted folks in a hospitality area prior to the memorial. They have a nice sized chapel area. Their parking lot is pretty big I'm the rear to allow for a procession to form and travel to a cemetery that's local. The Angel Restlawn team did a great job coordinating with the National Cemeteries team. They made sure the transfer of remains to the cemetery was done correctly and respectfully.
