Really it's hard to say yet, the food & service an the ambience was extraordinary. I ordered Phö "steak & shrimp" and spring shrimp eggrolls the peanut sauce. Everything was extraordinarily. Disappointed and underwhelmed. Been looking forward to this restaurants opening since the sign went on building about 2 years ago. It defiantly wasn't worth the wait or anticipation. Positives: The space looks great! it's newly built and clean. It has a feel and vibe that your in for an elevated experience. I sat at the bar section and was comfortable. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. They answered my questions and seemed eager to help. Negatives: The food. I ordered the BBQ Pork Chow Fun ($13.95) When it came out it just looked underwhelming. Like stated in a previous review the portion size was a little on the weak side. Second the pork was way fatty. There wasn't much protein to begin with on this plate and when 20% of it is fat you get the feeling that quality standards isn't of the highest priority. Noodles were good but flavor profile was mundane. I left this meal with the feeling of meh. I assume this is a family owned business. With a good amount of money and labor poured into getting it up and going. I wanna support independent business and NOT leave a negative review but when your core product is lackluster all I can say is do better. My wife and I ate here a few nights ago at the recommendation of a friend. We had been passing by the complex seeing the sign "gialai Restaurant". The name didn't scream "Vietnamese" restaurant. After a quick Google search on "Gia Lai" it all makes sense, a Provence in Vietnam. Anyways, the ambiance, service, and food were very good. The waiter probably thought we were greedy since it was just the 2 of us at the table, and we ordered Salt and pepper chicken wings Grilled pork vermicelli bowl Spicy sausage fried rice Lemon Grass chicken We were, of course, think leftovers. Oh, and a small Pho to go (for our daughter) The lemon grass chicken was very flavorful, best we've in a long time. Reminded us of a hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant we used to go to near E 10th st in Oakland in the '90s. The other dishes we also flavorful. Although we were expecting something different with the spicy sausage fried rice. We were thinking something like a spicy Chinese type sausage, but instead, it tasted like an Evergood hotlink... still tasty though. The price to food portion was just right. There is a large selection of noodle dishes that can be prepared as chow fun (wide noodles) or chow mein (narrow noodles). The seafood special chow mein is particularly delectable. Lengthy menu means you can get your pho on, try other noodle dishes, or have a dinner plate. The American-style iced tea is incredible -- obviously made with high-quality tea. Prices are reasonable. So by the time we got home it was still warm. We were immediately greeted as we waiting. Offered water, which was shocking to me for some reason because not a lot of places do that when you order take out. My 4 year old got the small meatball pho she ate half and that's a lot for her.
