We wanted pasta with pesto that's on the kids menu (looks delicious) but got an adult version that didnt quite reach our expectations
    Rachel O.

First off: Make a Reservation and save yourself initial trouble. We came in and was quoted 40 mins... pretty lengthy but decided to wait and it turned into almost an hour and 15 minutes. While I understand, over quote us. They wouldn't miss our business and we probably wouldn't have waited. Plus there was no where to wait - my assumption is it's supposed to be outside but this was at night and it at least 11 degrees so that was a no for us. This just turned into us either feeling on top of the tables right inside or in the way of workers. That being said, our server was very friendly, patient and observant. He noticed when something wasn't initially dropped which is a bonus for us. The Ricotta was amazing as well as the soup. We really enjoy Arancini, but honestly would get the other two items and try something new if the opportunity arises. Both the pizzas were good, but they were busy so by the time they came the appetizers settled and weren't as hungry. The pasta as described was kind of a let down, the kids pesto (we asked another table) looked creamy and delicious which was our goal and it didn't quite get there.

First time at their Naperville location. Been to the Downers Grove several times. Great experiences at both. Came in late on a Monday before closing and had a Resy reservation, but didn't know about the half off pizza deals on Monday. :-) Restaurant was packed but bar had a few seats and decided to just stay there instead. For appetizer had the Ricotta & Honey with bread which is always yummy. For entry had the Brick Chicken and Beef medallions + Cesar salad, all yummy. We will be back!

I've been here several times and the service and management is always fantastic! I loved the Tuscan bean and sausage soup- so flavorful and like a warm hug on a cold day. This was the first time I tried the Pasta Gia and it was SO good!

We LOVE Gia Mia! Nestled in the old Naperville library, Gia Mia has a warm and cozy vibe inside and a lively patio outside. Everything we've had here is great but we especially love the bolognese and the short rib gnocchi-- these are my go-to orders. The wood fired pizza is also great, but I can't stop myself from ordering the pasta! There are a lot of great appetizers and sides as well, the wild mushroom toast and the Tuscan shrimp are two favorites in particular.

We had a really great host throughout our visit -- friendly and helpful, even recommending a few dishes when we asked. We started with the calamari, which was good, though I wish it had been a bit crispier. The prosciutto and fig bruschetta was also tasty, but the fig ended up overpowering the whole bite after a while. The highlight was definitely the Mediterranean Shrimp Pasta -- packed with a variety of flavors and easily the best dish we tried. Our drinks were great too! I had one with elderberry flavoring, which was unique and refreshing, and the other was a classic Old Fashioned with cherries that was well-balanced and smooth.

9,000 mile foodie road trip. Came to try the lunch special. Had so much potential. Not super crowded but pizza came our borderline raw in middle like they were rushing to turn over tables. Sopresatta pizza and beet faro whipped ricotta salad. Salad had a solid blend of flavors. Left some of the pizza. Server was very nice

Gia Maria is located in the former Naperville library on Washington street. The outside looks just like the former Nichols library. Unfortunately the inside has little resemblance to the library except for a few books behind the bar. The restaurant features seating out front on the patio along Washington Street. There is also seating inside and among the bar area. The inside is rather loud as an open space. The space was also quite smoky from food prep, perhaps pizza. Outside area is nice for conversation and people watching. The menu features a large selection of wines. There is also a full bar for cocktails. As for food, there are ample areas of starters, pasta selection and pizzas. Plus there are some fish and meat dishes. The salmon dish was solid. The pizzas were a good size. And the pasta with pepper m, chicken, mushroom and more had good flavor. I just wish the pasta was a bit warmer. The menu also features a selection of desserts including sorbets, tiramisu, cheesecake and more. Worth a stop in for dinner or lunch. Restaurant open from 11-9pm Sunday through Thursday m. Open till 10 Thursday through Sunday. Pro tip: make reservations.

I ate half the pizza. It's a big size, and it's really good. I would rate it a 10/10.

It's very good I would rate it a 10/10. I felt good after eating the pizza I ate half of it.

Great outdoor patio and fun for warm weather but the pizza is just okay. Apps such as the roasted cauliflower and whipped ricotta with honeycomb as well as salads are great but wish the pizza was better. It was not very flavorful and the crust was pretty soggy. We have dined in and taken it to go and it was about the same. Service when dining in was good and I would still go back to try other items.

Linguine carbonara with clumps of pasta.

It's a bit loud inside, but not more than many other places. Wind and rain made us choose to eat inside. Service was good. We learned from our server that some mains and deserts come off the menu seasonally, so go back to see new items. The linguine carbonara was flavorful but the pasta was poorly cooked and large chucks were stuck together. Butterscotch bread pudding was very good. Not sickeningly sweet. It's one of the seasonal items. Other dishes served to the table looked very good and others not so much.

This is the 2nd time I've had Gia Mia but the first time I've been to the Naperville location. This location seems to be more family friendly compared to the Downers Grove one. The space itself was OK. It was hard to find, you have to really search for the 'Gia Mia' sign if you aren't familiar with this location. The inside was very cramped and loud. During my time here I felt as if conversations were bouncing off the walls. It was difficult to hear the people I was having dinner with. I left with a headache wanting to get a break from how noisy it was. Service throughout was great. Everything was timed out well and our server was attentive and friendly. My husband and I shared food and they split the pasta entree. This made it easier for us to enjoy without having to go back and forth with 1 plate. We tried the spaghetti carbonara and the pepperoni pizza. Both were pretty good. I'm not sure I'd order either item again but I'm glad I tried it. 1 of my friends ordered the beet kale salad which I also tried. I would order the beet salad in the future. It was delicious and well balanced! For dessert I had the pistachio gelato and it was 1 of the better ones I've had! The portion was generous and reasonably priced. Overall the evening went well. I'd go back but only if someone coordinated the plans for this location. This 1 won't be my usual Gia Mia spot.

Tonight felt especially memorable and worthy of a proper review. We usually avoid Friday nights because Vai's is almost always packed... and after tonight, it became crystal clear why. Diane and I were craving a standout meal, a little comfort, and a relaxing evening together. What we received was far beyond dinner service. We were treated like valued regulars and genuinely welcomed from the moment we arrived. Pete, who I believe is the manager, recognized us immediately and encouraged us to put our name on the waiting list despite the crowd. I'm grateful he did. While we waited, we sat outside near the fire on a cool evening, which added another layer of warmth and ambiance to an already inviting atmosphere. Within minutes, Pete came outside personally to let us know two seats had opened at the bar. That level of attentiveness matters. As soon as we walked in, Eliot and Mallory greeted us with smiles and authentic positive energy. Not forced. Not transactional. Genuine. They made us feel appreciated simply for being there. Even on one of the busiest nights imaginable, they engaged with guests with the same warmth and attentiveness we've experienced during quieter weekday visits. In the background, Morgan was crafting cocktails with precision while still finding time for a familiar nod that quietly says, "Good to see you again." That kind of hospitality cannot be faked. We ordered our favorite dish, the Lobster & Shrimp Rigatoni and once again it was exceptional. Rich, consistent, perfectly prepared, and easily one of the best dishes in Naperville. Without us even asking, the kitchen thoughtfully split the entrée onto two plates. That small gesture perfectly captures what makes Vai's special... attention to detail seems woven into everything they do. From the fire outside to the flowers inside, from the cocktails to the consistency of the food, Vai's creates an atmosphere that feels welcoming, polished, and sincere all at once. Authenticity and respect seem embedded in the culture there. Tonight was a standout evening for us, and I'm genuinely glad we decided to stay despite the crowd. Pete, Eliot, Mallory, Morgan, and the entire staff - thank you for reminding us what great hospitality looks like. Outstanding indeed.

Service was great! Everyone was friendly and prompt and wanted to make sure we had a great meal. The food was fresh and delicious. I recalled a Davanti location in Chicago but never had the chance to check it out, so this was my first time and it was great! The atmosphere is chic and the food was excellent, but not in a flashy, overdone, complicated way, just real good, made in house, hearty Italian fare. The Focaccia Di Recco was AMAZING. Yes, all caps. We packed up half of it to take home and it was still great the next day (reheated and then toasted in our mini counter oven/fryer). If you order just one thing here, let it be this focaccia dish. I understand why it's popular and I blurted out loud several times while eating this in restaurant: "on my god" it was truly divine. As my husband said, "this food might be better than what we had in Italy..." and I don't disagree. The kitchen does not do split portions for pasta but they were able to bring out 2 plates for us to split ourselves. This is a great spot for date night, a ladies night out, or a solo wine & dine at the bar. I can't believe I didn't come sooner. Plus, it's located right next to a parking garage which made our night out really convenient! We can't wait to come back! Five shining stars.

In the ongoing saga of trying to find a restaurant that works for all three of us: my vegan wife,…read moreme (a very NOT vegan) and our picky 8-year old, tonight's episode took place at Fiammé in downtown Naperville. Its very hard to find spots that can accommodate our very particular palates, and even more hard to find good vegan options outside of the city. Thats why I was excited to find this lovely Italian restaurant. The parking lot is small but there's a good amount of sidestreet parking. The inside is warm, cozy and super clean (including the restrooms ). The hospitality stood out right away. The owners and wait staff were very welcoming, and our server was fantastic; honest (which I appreciate), knew the menu well, and once she realized our situation, gave us some wonderful direction on what to order. I wouldn't say that the menu is overwhelming, but I rarely go to a restaurant where it takes me that long to decide what I want. There are lots of interesting options, from braised short rib ravioli to baked ziti, and several tasty appetizers (highly recommend the calamari). But we had come for the PIZZA. My daughter got the kids cheese pizza. It was surprisingly bigger than we thought, and at a great price. The kid only ate half before she said, "I like it...this might be better than [insert famous Chicago pizza brand]." (you MUST KNOW that this is high praise from a 3rd grader). My wife ordered the "They Don't Have Beef With Me" vegan Detroit-style pizza, and I have to admit, it was very good. Somehow they pulled off a buttery (but not butter) crust with melty vegan cheese (but NOT cheese ). Absolutely nailed it. I would have eaten more of hers if I hadn't ordered the Butcher pizza from the wood-fired menu. It was OUTSTANDING. Great flavor, perfect texture. Easily one of thee best wood-fired pizzas I've ever had. We're not drinkers, but they do have a good wine list and some nice zero-proof options, including the Amber Apple and The Drip. We didn't make it to dessert, mostly because the portions are generous, so our bellies (and our to-go boxes) were full. We will definitely be back to try other menu options and for dessert. If your family or friend group includes picky palates or dietary restrictions (the pizzas can be made gluten-free as well), then run...don't walk...to Fiammé. 100/10 recommend.

Located in Naperville, Rosebud has several locations in the Chicago area and are owned under the Rosebud restaurant group. This particular location is in downtown Naperville and serves high-quality, authentic Italian cuisine. The inside has a modern aesthetic with an upscale, romantic atmosphere. I will say this restaurant seems more appropriate for special occasions and formal dinners. The dress code should is smart-casual or business-casual, this is not a casual restaurant. Service seemed a little off and the kitchen was definitely behind. We arrived 10 minutes after our reservation and our table still wasn't ready. We were seated as soon as it was ready, but you could tell they were swamped. The bread took about 15 minutes to come out and it wasn't super warm or fresh. Our server gave us plenty of time to look over the menu, a little too much. But he seemed very busy keeping up with the other tables, so it was more understandable. We put out appetizers and entrees in together to try and speed things up. The kitchen was extremely backed up. It took nearly 20-25 minutes to receive our appetizers. And at least another 30 for our entrees. While this was frustrating, it happens. They also forgot to add shrimp to one of the entrees, although they did take it off the bill. The other aspects of the service were wonderful though. Our waters were filled very frequently by various staff. We had the manager check-in on us a couple times as well. It was clear they were trying to do their best that night. Our server was very personable and friendly too. For the food, we started with some bread and olive oil. They do replenish the bread too. The second basket we received was much fresher than the first. For appetizers, we ordered the grilled calamari and garlic knots. The grilled calamari came with sautéed peppers and had some sort of balsamic olive oil dressing. The dressing was quite strong and the calamari had a strong charred taste. This wasn't the best, but it wasn't bad either. The garlic knots were phenomenal! With just the right amount of oil, garlic, and parmesan, they were soft and just delectable. For my entree, I ordered the Gnocchi Bolognese. This was a generous portion and had lovely presentation. The bolognese sauce was decent with a good amount of veal and beef. I wish it had more of a robust flavor though. The dollop of creme fresh on top made the dish really creamy! The gnocchi was decently tender, not too soft or overcooked. Wasn't "wowed" by this dish, but was satisfied. Overall, my experience at Rosebud could have been a little better. Communication seemed to be off that night. Kitchen was extremely backed up and a lot of errors were made. Luckily some items were taken off the final bill, which was nice. The food was good, not great. I enjoyed the atmosphere, but again, was expecting more out of the overall service.
