This was my first time here and I will definitely coming back, but I would make a reservation next time. They were very busy during lunch time, but I only had to wait 30 minutes or so. It was worth the wait because the food was delicious from the small plate to the entree to the dessert. My mom and I enjoyed every part of it, and it was more than enough for two people. I visited Gia Mia on a Monday night around 5:30pm and the place was Jumpin' we didn't have a reservation and received a 25-30 minute wait estimate but we lucked up and snagged two seats at the bar. The menu is pretty extensive with small plates, salads, pastas and entrees and a large selection of pizzas. We didn't know it was pizza Monday (half price on all pizzas) so I felt like that a sign to order pizza! I opted for the Hanmaker's Pie (Italian sausage, mushrooms, pepperoni, oregano and basil & I added spinach. My colleague got the same pizza and we shared the Brussel sprouts. The sprouts came out first and were prepared in a way that we didn't quite expect they were shaved and sautéed with bacon and onions, I didn't care them overall as they were quite soft (or mushy) if I had paid closer attention to the description I would have selected a salad. The pizza came out shortly after and it was perfection (minus the sautéed spinach). We didn't order any drinks but they drink menu was extensive with many options for cocktails, mocktails, wines and spirits, I overheard the bartender sharing that many of the cocktails have housemade mixers and/or Gia Mia has put a twist on some traditional favorites like the old fashioned. In addition to a good meal the former library that the restaurant is houses in is beautiful with tall ceilings, colorful images of Italy and a large patio with umbrellas for warmer weather. Visited Gia Mia Naperville as a party of two and we were able to be seated very quickly! They have both indoor and outdoor seating and the ambiance of the restaurant was very nice. For food, we ordered the Small Plate Mushroom Toast, Charred Cauliflower, Baby Kale Salad, and the Chicken Parmesan. The Small Plate Mushroom Toast was delicious and the portions were a lot bigger than we thought. The Charred Cauliflower was roasted perfectly and came with olives and parmesan. We ordered Baby Kale as our Greens and the salad came with bacon, radish, sunflower seeds, and lemon vinaigrette. The Baby Kale was the perfect salad and we really liked the flavors in the salad. The Chicken Parmesan came with crispy hand breaded chicken breast, mozzarella linguine, and both pesto and roasted tomato sauce. The portion is huge so they offered the split the chicken parmesan into two plates which was really nice. Even after splitting the meal into two, we were really full! The chicken was juicy and really liked how they gave us both tomato sauce and pesto sauce in the Chicken Parmesan meal. Overall the service was amazing and the food was really good. Want to share our experience with this place tonight. My wife brought up this place a couple weeks ago and she decided to make us reservations in advance to make sure we can get in before it was all booked up. One of my daughters was coming in from SC and my other from downtown Chicago since they are both on spring break. We arrive 10 minutes before our reservation at 745 pm and we didn't get seated till 815 pm, they had told us they were running a few minutes behind but not 30 minutes lol. We finally get seated and we can tell this place was busy, so we tried to make as easy as possible for our waitress to make sure she wasn't overwhelmed. We ordered drinks and appetizers and our dinner quickly. Appetizers were good, dinner was good but our drinks came out late. We felt like our Service was rushed and that she was trying to do too much. If we decided to come back out we need to avoid there rush hours or maybe come during the week when it's not busy. I would just like to give a huge shout to Laura the GM and chef Mike, they went absolutely above and beyond for catering our event for our company Christmas party. Not only did they have the food on time it was ready, there was a little bit of a mishap and situation that happened, and they reacted so promptly so quickly and their customer service was just absolutely outstanding, better than literally any establishment I have ever been to. Not to mention the food was absolutely delicious, the barbecue chicken pizza, the spaghetti and meatballs, the chicken piccata, it was literally amazing. I just have never seen a organization react the way that Laura and chef Mike did and I would 10/10 recommend them to anybody. Seriously they take care of their customers. Casual ambiance with delicious food and good service. I've been here a few times, and each time was a pleasant experience. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu, and I've tried various appetizers, salads, pizza, and pasta dishes, and all were enjoyable. Tried the price fix menu for $29 that included the lobster bisque soup, the pork belly with polenta, and small filet. The bisque was good and tasty, flavorful but slightly lukewarm. The polenta was good, the pork belly I didn't love. The filet was good quality and well cooked. Flavorful. The potatoes were reasonable. I'm not an asparagus person so didn't try those. Overall good food quality, price was reasonable, and server was reasonable. However I was in a bit of a rush to make an appointment and felt the service took quite a while which was frustrating. Another food adventure with my honey. This time we stopped at Gia Mia in downtown Naperville. We've passed this place so many times last summer and have finally made it. Housed in an old library, Gia Mia has a relaxed vibe. Our waitress was awesome, providing us with details of various dishes as we were undecided. (Short rib gnocchi.....like what?!?!?!?!?!!!!!) We went for Easter bunch, my honey ordering the lasagna and I ordered the Stinger, which is one of their wood-fired pizzas with spicy pepperoni and HOT HONEY!!!!!! My parents and I came to Gia Mia tonight as a special occasion dinner. For local history fans, it's in the Old Nichols Library building on Washington Street (not to be confused with the current Nichols Library on Jefferson Ave.) Inside has been stripped down to the brick and planks (a friend who actually worked in the old Library 40 years ago said they must have had to plow through decades of plaster), and big chandeliers throw warm light into the space. Though it was busy, including a lot of kids, it amazingly wasn't noisy. Everything we ate was incredible. We started with the wild mushroom toasts: earthy, rich mushrooms on thick, crisp toasted bread, with garlic, onion and butter; these had such incredible layered flavor without being too filling at the outset of the meal. For the entree, my dad and I both ordered the medallions of beef, and my mother had the lasagna. The beef was tender and flavorful on its own but was offset by a drizzle of balsamic reduction, which also gave depth to the accompanying mixed roasted vegetables. My mom said the lasagna was delicious and also wasn't too heavy. Our server Jannet was a winner: kept an eye on us, made good recommendations, and was very friendly. My kid had the linguine and meatball in marinara, which demonstrated a nice exercise in restraint in terms of how much sauce was used. Thank you for that! The kids size was just right. I shared the Bruno pizza, which had pepperoni, sausage, and spicy sopressata. It was about 12" in size. Neapolitan pizza is simply one of the best pizzas in the world, and this one didn't disappoint. I appreciate the balance and quality of ingredients all cooked in a wood-fired oven. They even make their mozzarella in-house! This is a very popular downtown Naperville restaurant. Called for reservations and they only had 9:30 pm but told us Patti was first come first serve. We took our chances and got a table right away. The patio faces busy Washington Street, so it's not got much ambiance. The menu has a good selection of small plates, pasta and pizza. We had the Italian salad, roasted cauliflower and a pizza. The cauliflower and salad were both delicious. The salad had olives Anna cauliflower, greens and soppresetta. We shared the Hammaker pizza. It was wood fired and topped with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. The flavors were delicious. Our only complaint was the crust was crisp on the edges but soggy in the middle. It could have stood a few more minutes in the oven. Service was great. read more

I overheard that it's farm-to-table as well, and if that's the case then the prices are definitely great. We came at 5:30pm on a Wednesday and the place was already bustling. Patio is walk-ins only so definitely get there earlier than 5:30pm as we were the one of the last groups they squeezed in for the time being on the patio. We ordered the Ricotta + Honeycomb (toast), the Mushroom Sacchetti, and Stinger pizza. My favorite was definitely the Ricotta + Honeycomb small plate, the ricotta was so fluffy and paired really well with the honeycomb and toast. The mushroom sacchetti was really delicious and all the ingredients tasted very fresh. The server was also very accommodating and split the pasta between two separate plates before serving it for my friend and I to share the dish. The Stinger pizza was a bit spicier than I anticipated and I personally would have preferred a crispier crust/bottom, but a good pizza nonetheless. Definitely will be coming here again to try their other dishes again. One thing to note is that reservation is for indoors only. Absolutely love the inside of this restaurant. It's on old library built in the late 1800s that they've brought to the 21st century. Drinks were great, I had the spicy pear margarita. There wasn't much spice to it but it was delicious. We started with the Arancini and some sort of butternut squash tortellini, I don't think it was called tortellini but it was shaped that way. The filling was yummy. The arancini was light and just enough. We both had the balsamic grilled chicken salad as our entree, so good. I didn't want anything too heavy for lunch and a salad with grapes, nuts and strawberries isn't something I'd normally order but I'm glad I did, it was delightful. I feel that matter what there is "always something", good, bad or indifferent when you dine out. My always something for this was, the butternut squash tortellini was a bit doughy. Maybe it was suppose to be that way since it wasn't really a traditional tortellini I probably wouldn't order that again. I will definitely return for their drinks, arancini, salads and to try their enticing little wood fire pizzas. read more

I've gotten about 10 dishes at Gia Mia at this point, same for my girlfriend, and one thing is clear--they're all good (especially the hot honey pepperoni pizza!) I don't know that there's a better bang-for-your-buck upscale establishment in the entire Naperville/Aurora food scene and it definitely leaves you wanting to come back. It feels like fine dining, and the aesthetic matches, it just doesn't hurt the wallet quite as much. I have been to the GM in St. Charles, and Wheaton. Love them both. Naperville has the new patio in the downtown area. Love their lunch specials, the indoor restaurant has high and low top seating. Service was quick, full set of TVs, bar. Tbh I don't remember the Wheaton one, maybe that's my excuse to go back now that I live in Wheaton.
