When spending money we work hard for, it is such a relief when the experience is well worth it. Our experience was 10/10 due to the excellent food and quality of service by Amanda. She was engaging, thoughtful, and quick for any request we had. It is rare to find a server who spends time to get to know their tables, and I think Amanda did a great job. Highly recommend her. They bill themselves as authentic Italian dining. The first clue that this was just Olive Garden with lipstick, is the bread and olive oil. (And Balsamic vinegar, and spices.) That is a uniquely American invention unheard of in Italy. Bread goes with the meal and if the olive oil is good, you just drizzle a little on the bread. You certainly don't mix it with Balsamic vinegar. The pasta dishes are large enough to feed an entire table as a first course, which is Italian, not as an entire meal. (American tradition) When you offer Sausage, chicken, shrimp etc. on your on your caccio e Peppe that's American not Italian. For heaven's sake, it's called Cacio e Peppe for a reason. Also, they proudly use Gran Padano, from Northern Italy, instead of the correct Pecorino Romano from Southern Italy. It's supposed to be a simple Roman Dish! They make it a cheese wheel, so if you are looking for an American/Italian/Benihana experience, this is for you. There was waaaaaay too much raw garlic in the Penne alla Vodka (American, NOT Italian). I don't mean minced or finely chopped. There were chunks of it. And if they used heavy cream in the sauce we couldn't find it. The affogato was ok, but it's supposed to be made with a shot of espresso, not regular American Coffee. It just melts the ice cream making a dessert soup. The food is no better than what you would expect at one of the "Italian Restaurant" Chains and if that's what you expect in a nicer atmosphere you're sure to be pleased. The Service was pretty good. I really like the atmosphere of this restaurant. I do think that the Italian food is marketed as fresh and authentic. Though it is marketed as such, I do feel as if some of the food lacked a little bit of flavor. Overall, it wasn't bad and I will revisit this place to try a different dish. However, I do believe my pasta could've taken more flavor. I loved the fresh Parmesan and my soup was super tasty This is located in downtown of Marietta so it is conveniently in an area with other shops and restaurants. There is very limited parking in front of the restaurant, but there is public parking across the street that does cost. This was a great experienced with the team yesterday for our holiday brunch. It's perfect for large parties. They have full bar. Parking can be a challenge in downtown Marietta. We had an assortment of appetizers, and the calamari is my favorite. Get the Black Diamond Bolognese. It is so substantive-you're going to have enough for another meal. I really enjoyed my experience in Gianni & Mac's' Holiday Opry Ski Pop-Up. The reservations were hard to get and I can definitely see why. I will say that they seemed to overbook a little, as the seating did take a little bit and we didn't have a server for a while. However, once the drinks came out everything else was amazing. I had the Salmon and it was absolutely amazing. It was glazed so well and paired with delicious potatoes and spinach. The meatball appetizer was also delicious--they are humongous! The Cacio E Pepe was served table side in a cheese wheel but presentation and ambiance is where the high marks end. While the cacio e pepe preparation was cool, the taste was not. I've been here for several occasions both for lunch and dinner and I gotta say, I just don't think they're hitting the mark. The restaurant is decorated beautifully. I will give them that. However, it is because of the inconsistent service and underwhelming, inconsistent food that I feel compelled to share. For those who aren't familiar, Gianni & Mac's is a sister restaurant to Mac's Chophouse on the corner, which replaced the crumbling Shillings on the Square in 2020. I have specific feelings about Mac's, but I'll reserve those for another review. Reviews from friends have been that the dishes are either bland or way over salted, but never balanced. I'm inclined to agree, but I want to expand. Currently, they're trying out a kitschy menu theme as if you're ordering from a ski resort menu and it just feels forced and disengaging. Husband recently ordered the ham, kale and bean soup, to which he now calls the "hot ham water" soup because there was no kale, and it was a mushy, cloudy bowl of lukewarm broth with buoys of ham. I don't even remember what pasta I ordered at my most recent visit because it was that forgettable. Kid had spaghetti and meatball. She barely touched it. Service has always been apathetic. I've popped by the bar for to go drinks on a few afternoon occasions and not only are the bartenders cold, but their pricing is inconsistent for an Aperol spritz or gin + tonic. All in all, this place feels like it is trying too hard to be something it isn't. read more

Italian is not usually my first choice when we go out. #1 most Italian is so Americanized these days so it's nothing special. #2 I just don't eat a lot of carbs these days. THIS Italian restaurant may have swayed me to reconsider. When you walk in, the place is stunning. Even during the day. Right off the bustling square of downtown Marietta Gianni & Mac's is both stylish and relaxed. The place is beautifully laid out with plenty of areas for large parties. It has a really nice bar area, and when you walk in, you see to your left the area where I believe they make their charcuterie boards. Seems to be something they are known for. Our waiter, Santiago greeted us very warmly and we immediately felt at home with him. He was an excellent server. We let him know that we had never been there and he showed us a few recommendations that all sounded amazing! Since we came for a late lunch, he suggested we try ordering a small charcuterie board which came with 2 cheese options and two meat options with pickled cherry peppers and amazing green olives with grilled bread. For the cheese We tried the buffalo mozzarella and the Toma which was very similar to a sharper and slightly firmer Brie. For the meat we had Speck and a salami. Our favorite combo was the Speck with Toma, with a little fig preserves. These were all Santiago's recommendations and he was spot on! For our entree we split the Pappardelle Pasta with Bolognese. This was a lot of food and they were kind enough to split the dish into 2 bowls for us which was an awesome touch that we weren't expecting. Our whole dining experience created a desire for us to come back. This will be high on my list of Italian restaurants and I won't hesitate to recommend to anyone. The bar looked amazing and I saw some pretty tasty drinks going out. We didn't have dessert. Next time! There will be a next time. Can't wait to come back. read more

Oh boy. I don't know if I just hyped this place up in my head or what, but I just wasn't impressed with the food. The atmosphere is lively and great. We were able to snag two seats at the bar which was pure luck given that it was a Friday night. We ordered the Cacio e Pepe and Bolognese. Of course the table side cheese wheel presentation of the cacio e Pepe was fantastic, but it was lacking flavor somehow. Same with the Bolognese. It was very underwhelming. A group of us girls went out last Friday night. The place is pretty and I love the little outdoor area for the kids to play. We had the cutest waiter. His name was Archer. He was very attentive and personable. The food was great. It's not the best I've ever had in my life, but I will definitely go back. We have been on 2 occasions. We had some very good dishes. We really enjoyed the eggplant appetizer! We found the mussels and chicken parm to be generous portions. We were very underwhelmed with the Cacio Pepe in the cheese wheel. There was an issue with the bedside stovetop, but even despite the temperature, we found the pasta did not have much flavor. We saw some people order the meatball that looked very good. We loved the atmosphere and enjoyed sitting at the bar.
