Gianni's Trattoria Gianni's Trattoria is one of the most consistently great Italian spots around. The food is excellent every time. On this visit, I had the tagliatelle with chicken -- comforting, rich, and full of flavor. The slight sweetness of the sauce and WHITE CHOCOLATE topping (I know, sounds odd but trust) paired really well with the mushrooms and pancetta. The atmosphere is very family-oriented, and the staff is always welcoming. Our server, Jane, was only on her second day, but she went above and beyond to make our one-year anniversary feel special, even bringing us a complimentary cannoli. The ciabatta bread was also fantastic -- crunchy on the outside, soft inside -- and the olive oil and balsamic tasted fresh and light. We finished with the chocolate cake, which was rich and satisfying. This is a great spot for date nights, celebrations, or just a really good Italian dinner. Visiting some friends in Charlotte, we drove up to Concord, they suggested Gianni,s Trattoria. In our group, a couple of got the seafood ravioli and a couple of us ordered the stuffed eggplant, the stuff eggplant was a mazing. The seafood raviolis were full of seafood and the sauce was full and rich. Finished the night with Lemon cake and the layer orange cake both were outstanding! This was our second visit here, and it was a good night with a few minor issues. We were seated as per our reservation on a Saturday night after Christmas. Our eldest son was visiting from out of town, and it is our yearly tradition to have a nice dinner out all together. We were seated at a table in the back corner, which was very private, but quite dark. There is no lights directly over the table, so it made it difficult to read menus. We had bread and dipping oil brought out and drink orders were taken. We ordered salads and soups, which were all very good and tasty. After our entrees order was taken, we waited a long time for our meals, nearly an hour. While I understand it is a Saturday night, and the dining room was full, orders probably should not take that long. A server brought out more bread, and we munched on more bread for another bit before meals finally arrived. Everything looked great, Katarina's Beef and peppers, Melanzane, chicken franchese, gnocchi travisano, and pepper 1/2 chicken. All delicious. The only complaint was there was not much broccoli rabe on the pepper chicken dish. Mostly the chicken with a few potatoes and a couple pieces of broccoli rabe underneath. The chicken was good, but I probably wouldn't order it again. A few of us at the table only ordered water, and someone only came around once to refill glasses. One of us did order alcohol, but water was not replenished regularly. We had empty glasses most times. Due to the long wait for meals, we skipped dessert. We may decide not to dine here on a Saturday night again. Just my opinion though, some may like the long waits in between courses, but it was a little more than I expected. The bread service was good with warm rolls served with a balsamic and olive oil dip. We tried the pasta soup and calamari which had both a depth and lightness of flavor. The time between the apps and dinner service was close to 30 minutes. We skipped dessert. The food was flavorful, the service was good, and the ambiance is romantic. Overall an amazing experience! I am a huuggeee fan of Mama Ricottas and learning we have "a location" in Concord is a huge score! Located at Gibson Mill, you KNOW parking is plentiful! Spaghetti and meatballs of course is a classic staple at any Italian restaurant and was delicious! Meatballs were the size of a baseball! Beef&Peppers is a similar dish I get at their Charlotte location and was underwhelmed at this plating. Definitely on the spicier side and dont see myself ordering this one again, which is OK! Allows for an opportunity to explore other menu items! After dinner, our waitress reviewed dessert options and was excited to request the tiramisu! How do you NOT get tiramisu at an Italian restaurant knowing their Charlotte location has PHENOMENAL tiramisu... our waitress quickly came back after putting in the dessert menu to inform us tiramisu was no longer an option and had re-ready all our other options. I opted for the lemoncello! Came with a raspberry glaze(?) and was pretty disappointed. Honestly just tasted like vanilla birthday cake and had a really hard time finding any presence of lemon? Another amazing delicious meal! I only wish they gave us larger portions so I would have left overs for the next day. We made reservations at the bar for Friday night. We had some great bartenders. We started with the Arancini which my husband loved the last time. And we had some cocktails I had the limoncello spritz and my husband had an okay old fashioned. Our wine made up the drinks. For dinner. I had the gnocchi with the shrimp. And my husband had BROOKLYN STYLE "BROCCOLI & MACARONI" with the shrimp. Needless to say we finished both our dishes. We could have used more bread throughout the meal. I wish they didn't run out of tiramisu. I had the special berry crème brûlée it was okay but I should have gotten something else. This was our first time, and it was amazing... Service was great. It was a little loud, but everyone was having a good time so it was nice to hear laughter coming from every direction. I am an Italian food snob... and I have NO complaints! I ordered the lasagna. My husband ordered the gnocchi. Both were phenomenal. I ordered a Cosmopolitan, hubby ordered the Woodford Palmer. Both were good. Caesar salads were great as well. Cannoli for dessert was great... just wish they offered one without chocolate chips. Overall, great experience! We've been to Gianni's several times, and it has always been excellent. The calamari is incredibly tender, and the gnocchi with shrimp is fantastic. If you enjoy scallops, try substituting them for the shrimp, you won't be disappointed. The staff is wonderful as well, which is a great bonus to the outstanding food. read more

My partner and I were on a road trip and had a craving for Italian. We pulled up Apple Maps to see what Italian Restaurants were in the area. We recently visited Italy and knew that the name seemed like traditional Italian cuisine so we headed over to Gianni's Trattoria. What a gem of a find! The menu had classic Italian meals along with some new variations. We ordered the Arancini, Nonna's Manicotti, Francaise and Creme Brûlée. Everything was absolutely delicious! The gravy for the manicotti was a little on the sweeter side but still really great! Our server was exceptional and knowledgeable of the menu and specials. This place is amazing! Went there last nice with a huge party, there were 17 of us. We walked in and were greeted at hostess station, seated promptly and everything went smoothly with our reservation. We had an awesome waitress, who was very good at explaining the menu items, and answering questions. Even though there were so many of us, all the staff was very professional and helped each other out and we never had to ask for more water, they were checking on us and on it! The place is very clean and beautifully decorated. It's very rustic and classy inside, with gorgeous, dimmed lighting and lots of space for customers. There are giant tables available for large parties, with was perfect for us!!! Our appetizers and food were amazing! Everything that came out was very fresh tasting and high quality, certainly worth the money! I personally tried the calamari app with spicy sauce...it was perfectly breasted and seasoned!! The sauce was fantastic! I also had the special pasta for the evening, it was chicken rigatoni with mushrooms and cheese. So delicious and I'm so glad I tried it! My husband got the lasagna and we also tried the Caesar salad! Everything was so good!!!! No complaints at all!!! We also ordered desserts...the Mexican chocolate creme brulee and the salted caramel cheesecake!! Decadent!!!!! You have to try both! I got a macchiato as well to pair with my desserts, and I highly recommend!!! We were blown away by our experience last night in the best way!!! I cut a piece given to me with a butter knife. So good. I'm having that next time . Gianni came by the table for an enjoyable, brief conversation and he is so cool. Zoey was our server and she excellent. Knowledgeable, pleasant and down to earth. The blueberry and lemon mascarpone along with a cappuccino capped the dinner off nicely. What a great Italian restaurant that is off the main path. Hidden on the older side of Concord but modernized, parking is ample. Seating will get tough once you arr8ve on a popular night. I would suggest making reservations. Service was very good, the starter salad was decent but the Spaghetti and meatballs was outstanding. The pasta was surrounded with home based marinara sauce. 2 large meatballs held great flavor with minimal fillers. The overall zest of the sauce combined with the meatballs was very flavorful. Overall, I was more impresses with the food quality than the ambiance. It will get loud with groups who have been drinking alcohol during their dinner. read more

We originally had reservations with STK, but, we didn't wanna drive back to Charlotte, so, we looked for charming places and luckily stumbled across this fantastic Italian place. We went to Gianni's in Concord, NC, for Valentine's Day. As expected, it was a full house that night so we had a 5:00 PM reservation but had a wonderful table on the window. Keep in mind that the restaurant is in a gorgeous old building that is original to old downtown Concord. The downstairs is for fine dining (exceptional) but they serve very good pizza upstairs! We started off the evening with whiskey sours and then switched to a beautiful bottle of Argentine red wine. For an appetizer, we chose the fried, cornbread oysters. The oysters were huge....and delicious. The wine selection went perfectly with our entree selections; the veal chop and the scallops/shrimp St Jacque. For dessert, the white chocolate, raspberry creme brulet came highly recommended...and did NOT disappoint! Wowser. This an Itamisn restaurant but they have a range if entrees to suit many tast Our server, Tony, was excellent. He recently moved to Concord from New York and his Italian heritage fits this restaurant to a "T". He inquired if we wanted/needed anything throughout our dinner, without being intrusive. Great service. This restaurant is located in an old bar/restaurant that must be over 100 years old. It is a delightful place to go go with your spouse, friends/family or out of town guests. If you're looking for great Italian cuisine Gianni's Trattoria is the answer to your prayers! Not only is this place adorned with the old style, Italian restaurant walls and memorabilia, but the food is excellent! I have not had Italian food this mouthwatering in five years and the last time I did, I had to make a trip back to New York to get it! I ordered Chicken Franchise and it was perfectly cooked; the lemon wine and butter sauce was perfectly balanced, which complemented the chicken breast, which was tender and juicy the pasta and all of the dishes taste like theres an Italian grandmother in the kitchen cooking dinner for her family. Cooked with I met Gianni who is such a wonderful man, with a kind heart. He's such a great business owner, he treated me like family and made me promise to come back again. My friend and her husband are from out of town and always stop in to have dinner at Gianni's when they visit, and " G" treats them like family so he told me that I live here and I have no excuse to come home for dinner. Gianni's was a good experience. I was taken there by my wife for my birthday dinner and we had heard that it would be a nice place to celebrate the evening. We ordered ZUPPA DE CIPOLLA (French Onion soup) the and CLASSIC CAESAR SALAD for Insalat. Followed by the ANTIPASTO MISTO and CALAMARI FRITTI for the Antipasto course. Prima Pasta was next with NONA'S MANICOTTI. Secondi consisted of SALTIMBOCCA DI VITELLO and the CHICKEN & SHRIMP PICATTA. Desserts were the Chocolate cake and an Orange cake with Espresso. Impression: - We were pleased with the friendly staff and cleanliness of the restaurant. - The menu had a nice variety for our tastes. Satisfactory: - Service was attentive for the most part. We're pretty sure our server was reasonably new to the staff, so we made allowances as we understood everyone needs time to learn excellence. - We planned to spend 2 hours at dinner, so we did not focus on time, but the flow of courses was aligned with our plan. Therefore, plan a longer than average meal duration. Consider: - The Zappa di Cipolla (onion soup) was excellent. It was one of the evening's highlights and shouldn't be missed. - The desserts were very good. However... - SALT. Several dishes had far too much salt. The Caesar salad, Saltimbocca, and Piccata all had a saltiness that distracted us from truly enjoying the meal. Surprisingly, the onion soup had a perfect balance of seasonings. Neither of us have issues with salt in our diets, but I would warn those people watching their sodium intake to ask the staff to help them out. We bought takeout from Gianni's to celebrate our anniversary with my twin sister and her husband (We had a double wedding.), and we brought it to the rehab facility where my sister was recovering from a stroke. We bought a lasagna and two shrimp piccata. Our food was delicious, but the shrimp piccata only had 4 shrimp, one quartered artichoke heart, a modicum of pasta and some kale that looked like it might be a garnish. We paid $28 each for what amounted to two child's meals. I was excited when we walked in to pick up our meal. The restaurant looked like a fine place to eat in, but we would not eat there and pay their prices for such small portions. I was disappointed. read more

You should make a reservation but sometimes they can accommodate walk-ins. Only go when you have time to sit back and relax into the experience. It's not a quick service establishment.
