OMG!! What happened to this place - down hill fast.. 35 minutes wait for 'cold food' that was wrong (veal parmigiana) . We had to request utensils. Had to ask for the knots that comes with the meal!! Dirty Plates stayed on the table till we requested they be taken away after multiple walk bus made by manager on duty !! When we walked in it smelled like sewer. We should have left then but thought it could have been the guy in front of us. The place looked like it was a makeshift restaurant. No ambiance or decor. Felt like we were in a church basement waiting on a pot luck. Asked our waitress if the house Italian was good? She said it was. Well it was red wine vinegar, maybe a basil flake, or two. Our dinner came out and when she put it in front of us, I just looked at my husband and he started laughing. It looked like it was cooked three days ago and they just kept adding water then made it look great with a piece of mozzarella melted on top. It had no flavor and was a gluey texture. Our server was nice but after she dropped off the food she was never seen again. I had to get up and get our own plates because the kids were sharing their meals, I had to get up and go by the kitchen to get a new ketchup because the one she gave us was empty. My husband said the meatballs tasted like canned dog food, smelled. It was one of the worst restaurant experiences we have had in a long time. BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT EVER. My family and I have been going here since I was a kid and I live it so much. My favorite item is the spaghetti with meat sauce. I'm very picky about spaghetti, and rarely get spaghetti at restaurants because I never like it but Garofola's is truly the best spaghetti I've ever had. I ordered the Hot Big Deigo Sub which is basically a three meat sub, served hot with Italian Dressing on the side. Both my wife and I enjoyed our subs but this is the first time I have seen Wedding soup without pasta , normally orzo, as part of it. Stayed at a local hotel and ordered pizza, garlic knots, and stuffed banana peppers delivered to our room. The food was hot and fresh when delivered. We were blown away by the authentic Italian sauce on the peppers and the fresh crusty garlic knots. The sauce reminded me of a sauce my friends Italian mom used to make in New York when we were kids. Very disappointed!!! This is the second time I ordered a stromboli and my girlfriend ordered a calzone. My stromboli was 1/4 to 1/3 of her size. Because of poor planning on our part, we had to scramble to find a pizza place to eat at tonight. Garofola's popped up on Yelp and we decided to give it a try. I hate giving bad reviews to places where the waitress was so nice but she did bring the review from a one star up to a two. I also appreciate the fact that they had two dollar domestic drafts tonight. That's about all I have to say that's positive about Garofola's. We love Bruschetta but it has to be fresh and this was not fresh. Instead of a freshly grated soft mozz., the bread was topped with some grocery store parm shreds. Tomatoes and basil tasted old as well. Most importantly, the olive oil was cheap and muddy tasting. If this is your offering, I suggest you take it off the menu. We ordered the spaghetti and meatball for the kids and the sauce reminded me of the marinara we used to get in elementary school. It could have very easily doubled as bad chili sauce without the meat. Pizza was good right? I mean pizza is hard to mess up right? Apparently not. It was pretty bad. In fact, I've had worse restaurant pizza once in my life; CiCi's, and I've heard that they have improved their pizza. Never have I been unable to eat my pizza leftovers from the previous night.
