The collard greens and fries are perfect sides. The short rib sandwich is outstanding. They have delicious cocktails and a huge selection of beer & wine. I tried a sunset sangria and it was absolutely refreshing! The desserts are good too. I've had the sticky cake with vanilla bean ice cream and all I can say is that I was tempted to order a second helping! The ambience is nice, not too noisy(although it's usually full of diners) it's rustic yet upscale with high tops, booths and tables. Nice for a date night, ladies night or large group. This was my first time dining here. I had been hearing a lot of chatter about it. My friends and I decided to give it a try. They offered good service and good food. My waiter Jonathan was exceptionally nice and helpful. He was prompt bringing food to the table and our food came out hot and fast which is rare. They have unisex restrooms but the floors were wet so I can't speak on the cleanliness of the restrooms. Not sure if it was water from handwashing or other fluids inside. Great ambiance and food! Nice beer and cocktail selections too. My shrimp and grits was one of top 5 best I've ever had. My son's steak was cooked to perfection. The restaurant is located inside a big shopping plaza area but inside it was beautiful and cozy. 4 stars instead of 5 because they sat me in a booth under a leaky AC Roof and put a rag there to absorb the leak and said I can wipe it before I scoot out ....weird...maybe I wouldn't have minded if they offered something like free dessert or beer, something as a reward to deal with something I shouldn't have had to deal with. read more

Chase as the new mgr is a great change. We loved him as the bartender. There are new servers there now who try really hard. One suggestion is to make sure you hear all of the order so as to not make a mistake. I was served pork and not the roasted chicken dinner. For someone who doesn't eat pork that was disheartening. I feel like this is one of those small neighborhood gems that people tend to forget about, including myself. It's been a couple of years since I was last here, but decided to stop in for dinner yesterday evening and was very impressed with the overall service and menu. Everything looked and sounded so good that it was hard to choose. I ended up getting the short ribs with mashed potatoes and some carrots and separately, I ordered some crispy calamari. Second time here for dinner and it was even better than the first thanks to Amelia! Our server was friendly, helpful, professional and fast. She anticipated our needs and checked in often. It was a busy night so it stood out to me that she was so attentive. Our food was delicious of course: deviled eggs, salmon, and burger. She explained the Cabarrus burger contest. Their burger is amazing, check it out! I saw groups as well as couples. Dining room is not large but the layout maximizes the space: high tops, regular tables and booths as well as bar seating. This is such a cute local spot that has the perfect ambiance with dim lighting that makes the place more intimate and cozy. Our server Amelia was great. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend asking for her! Started off with one of the holiday specialty drinks , the mimosa mistletoe which was a cranberry and rosemary ice cube served with champagne. This was so good that more than one round was ordered. Our server was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. She brought out the dessert we ordered with a candle for my mother's birthday, which was very sweet. The chocolate cake was melt in your mouth perfection! It was moist, and chocolaty chocolate without being overly sweet. When you walked in the waiting area is relatively small, but we only waited. Two minutes. I think most people make reservations.; we did not so we were very fortunate that we were able to be seated so quickly. The lighting in here is perfect slightly dim, but not so much. We didn't have a reservation but they were able to accommodate with little wait time. It was packed, prime time Friday night. The hostesses and our waiter were a delight. We was cracking jokes and having the best convos. Ok now for the nitty gritty. I ordered a rosé, it was still although it was in the sparkling wine section. Definitely a reorder. For my main I ordered the 44 cheeseburger. I don't eat pork so they put it on the side so my friend could put it on her chicken sandwich. The burger is a smash burger with 2 patties, pimento in the cheese, lettuce and tomatoes with a house remoulade sauce. The burger was DELICIOUS! The patty was nicely grilled, had some crunch on the edges but was juicy and seasoned! The burger comes with fries but since we ordered the truffle fries I asked to sub. They had salads and so I got the caesar salad. That was a miss. I did like the freshness of the salad. So I will give kudos for that but the dressing was a no go. Went for lunch and food did not disappoint! This is my second time visiting 44Mills. This time, I ordered the A44 Burger (made with Waygu) and it was probably the best burger I've ever had. The only negative is that my bun got soggy. Maybe they added too much sauce on it so next time, I'd request light sauce and drain the grease from my burger. My husband enjoyed his hot honey sandwich and no complaints and may daughter did like her chicken tenders and fries. Our server was very friendly and knew the menu well. My friend and I met here for a last minute brunch today. Ordered 1 drink each, an appetizer and entrees. Our service was decent, he went over specials and how foods would be prepared. Nothing above and beyond but not poor by any means. Upon paying my friend and I left a few dollars on each of our checks for the tip with the intention of adding cash. Just as my friend was about to pull out her cash our server (Sam?? We were told he's then only male server today so I assume that's the correct name) felt the need to complain about his tips being low. "Was the service bad, because you only gave me $2 but whatever" and walked away. She literally had a handful of cash for him. Upon complaining to the manager he didn't seem shocked and knew exactly who was being discussed? No name necessary! I also work in food service, we ALL know that a tip is not something we are entitled to. Don't destroy your blessing because you chose to have a smart mouth and a bad attitude!! I'm in town for the weekend and decided to stop by 44 Mills and had a great time. I love small, quiet places with great music that fills the background. My server was great attentive and great energy the whole time. For food I had the 44 burger(can't remember what the menu calls it). This is just a smash burger with pimento cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato. It comes with chips but I subbed it with old bay fries. First if you're an old bay person already then you'll love the fries. Great blend and taste and not too hard, felt like a perfect blend. Now the smash burger was honestly a great choice. I'm a pimento cheese guy and it does take the show on the burger. The sauce they have on the burger compliments it so well. It was a great choice if you're in the mood for one. Overall great experience. This place already has a positive reputation for being really good and I see why. From the outside you would not expect what you find when you enter the doors. It's definitely got more of an atmosphere going on inside than out. Wife and I got the pimento cheese rangoons which were good, just basically fried pockets of pimento cheese. We also ordered the liver mush croutons which were amazing! I've never had liver mush prepared that way and I would come back just to get that app. For our mains I ordered the shrimp and grits which did not disappoint, the shrimp were big and succulent. The grits were perfectly cooked and the sausage/sauce added that extra smokiness and zing. My wife ordered the chicken sandwich and truffle fries. It's been a while since I've had truffle fries that actually tasted like truffle. Most places have them on the menu and they don't add up, but 44 mills delivered! While traveling, we stopped for lunch here today. I had the autumn salad with salmon and a side of cheese grits. The grits were enough for two. The salad was huge and filling and I'm glad the dressing arrived in the side. My husband had the creole omelet with potatoes. The omelet was tasty and the potatoes were amazing. This was my first time trying 44 Mills. They've been on my radar for years. We stopped in to check out their Million Dollar Burger for the Cabarrus Burger Madness Challenge and it did not disappoint. The burger was HUGE!! I did not finish it, but I got a good chunk eaten and I was proud lol. We also tried a few cocktails and really enjoy them as well! 44 Mills has a lot of great items on the menu too so I can't wait to go back and try more options. But this burger was definitely the star of the show!! The bottom bread did get a little soggy from the jalapenos but it was still amazing. It's been years since I ate at 44 Mills so I stopped on my way from West CLT to High Point. Chase was the manager that took care of me at the bar. Nice guy and provided the suggestion of their competition burger- $44 Million Burger. The Caesar salad was a good start. The burger tasted great and it had a menagerie of toppings including something called "cowboy candy" . It had bacon, avocado ranch, BBQ sauce. It was quite tasty! The fries were hot and crispy. The wait staff is really and attentive. I had an old fashion that was made to perfection. The food has a great appearance but not much flavor. I give it a 3 start at best! The ambiance, overall atmosphere and service is what makes this place so great. Our waitress was Emily. She made great suggestions, had pleasant conversation, and was very professional. This has to be one of the better restaurants I have been to lately for lunch. We were greeted promptly when we entered and our waitress came to the table immediately. She was very patient as we looked over the menu, as there are a lot of options to choose from. We started out with the deviled eggs, which I have to admit I'm pretty about. My preference is not to have deviled eggs sweet, but to be more savory. This recipe of deviled eggs was a bit unique and seemed to have some stone ground mustard in it, which I really appreciated and make the flavors a bit different than the average deviled egg dish. We also ordered the fried chicken sandwich with pimento cheese on the brioche bread. I thought this was a good sandwich although it could've used just a little bit more pimento cheese. We also ordered the fried shrimp sandwich which I have to highly recommend, it was absolutely delicious. The shrimp are very large, premium quality and fried just perfect.
