It was a delicious wrap with great flavor and a good portion size. I also tried the mozzarella sticks. They tasted good, but they were not quite hot enough, so there was no cheese pull. After all that waiting it was mid. Very basic. Did not live up to the hype AT ALL. Tik tok fooled me. Noodles were over cooked and mushy. One of my cheesesticks had no cheese. Garlic knots...meh. Stopped by Basilico Italian for lunch and had to try the popular Chicken Caesar Wrap after seeing it so many times online. It definitely lived up to the hype! Went on a Friday night with a reservation. We were seated in a timely manner and our server was quick and attentive. A noticeable difference from what is sometimes a much slower service. I ordered the chicken piccata and I think with any really sauce heavy dish, angel hair can be a gamble because the temperature of the sauce combined with the weight of the sauce I feel can sometimes cause such a thin pasta to get too soft? Same for the light breading on the chicken, it gets a little soft and everything feels quite one note but I recognize that this is a preferable outcome for some! (Read Bon Appetites article on the phenomenon "Crispy Gone Soggy") The flavor was good overall, it was lemony and tangy, perfect level of salt, the sauce wasn't too thick or thin. I think for me the pasta was a hair too soft and the chicken, while moist and perfectly cooked, had absorbed more sauce than preferable, causing it to lose any textural difference it might have had prior to reaching the table. I'm sad to have to update my initial review. When my family and I first started coming here, we really enjoyed our experiences. Over the past several months, though, there have been a few questionable things we've noticed or experienced that have made us pause. We've continued to give grace because we understand restaurants can have an off day, but unfortunately, this most recent experience was the icing on the cake for us. During our visit, we all ordered broccoli with our meals. My niece was actively eating hers when she suddenly screamed and asked, "Is this a worm?" When we looked, there was what appeared to be a small worm/larva in her broccoli. By that point, several of us had already eaten some of the broccoli from our own plates, so naturally everyone's appetite was immediately turned off. Your mind starts wondering whether there could have been anything else in the food that you simply didn't notice. I completely understand that broccoli is fresh produce, it comes from the ground, and unfortunately things can happen. I also want to give credit where it's due. The owner came out and was very kind and responsive. She took the food back and had my pasta remade without the broccoli, which I genuinely appreciated. We were also very understanding and respectful because we know things happen and no restaurant is perfect. However, I was surprised by how casually the situation seemed to be treated beyond that. We were asked if we wanted new broccoli, but after finding a bug in broccoli that a child was actively eating, none of us wanted any more broccoli. My concern was more so whether the remaining broccoli being served should have been looked into immediately. This wasn't simply a side we didn't like or something that had been cooked incorrectly. The kids were already eating free as part of the restaurant's promotion, which required the purchase of adult entrées. My mom and I still paid for our meals, and this is absolutely not about not wanting to pay. However, given the circumstances, I was surprised there wasn't any additional accommodation made to the bill. Even discounting or comping one of the paid adult entrées would have felt like an appropriate acknowledgment of how unsettling the situation was, especially since several of us had already eaten the same side before discovering what was in my niece's. Again, I genuinely appreciate the owner coming out, being kind, and having the food remade. I don't want that part to go unacknowledged. But once you see something like that in food you've already been eating, a replacement plate doesn't necessarily bring your appetite back. I was honestly hesitant to even eat the replacement. We've continued coming back despite some questionable experiences because we genuinely liked this restaurant when we first discovered it. That's why I'm sad to even write this update. We've tried to extend grace, but unfortunately, this experience was the icing on the cake for my family and me. read more

From recommendations to desserts, we told her our picks and she steered us right into these - 1. I was surprised when we went to check in with the host that it wasn't too crowded and the bar was somewhat empty. So we just sat at the bar. Which was great. We got a great view of the bar and the restaurant set up. Our bartender was great and friendly. I had a glass of wine and my husband had Miller lite. .We started with the rice ball. And wow it was big! A prefect start to dinner. I had the flavorful pesto pasta and I added a meatball. Super yum! I had to take half of it home. My husband loves fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. He was impressed! He finished it all! Also it was nice that the pasta came with a side. I chose a side salad. Super fresh! And the prefect size l! My husband would have liked more of their Caesar dressing for his salad but overall it was good. They do have home made desserts here if that's your thing. I'm the kind of person who will plan my dessert before I pick the entree. So of course I was going to try their delicious tiramisu! Made reservations a couple hours before visiting Basilico on a recent Friday night. They were very busy, I will note, and I was thankful for the rez. However, I wish that our table was not at the very front of the restaurant right in front of the host/hostess stand because the area surrounding the host stand is practically nonexistent so any waiting customers are basically standing at your table. This friday night they had a live performer singing and playing guitar so if that's not your thing, avoid Friday nights. We placed a calamari order for our appetizer but I don't recommend you doing so. The calamari was so chewy and barely any seasoning detected on the batter. The complementary garlic knots were welcome but they barely had any garlic seasoning! I ordered the bruschetta chicken - which does not come with any noodles or sides - and my bf ordered the chicken piccata. He was disappointed that the piccata was so soupy but said it was edible. My bruschetta chicken was delicious and I didn't even miss the noodles. They should add some balsamic glaze to really set it off. read more

I came here for the first time on a Sunday in May trying to get their Caesar Chicken Wrap but found out they only serve it at lunch Tuesday-Saturday. I came back that Tuesday after placing and order over the phone. Their parking lot no matter what day of the week is always jam packed. But when I went in to get my order there literally was no one in there. The hostess said it's due to the doctor's offices in the same shopping center. The wrap was the delicious but the fries didn't hold up well for me. The house-made Caesar is so good and doesn't contain eggs. I went back a month later to get it again. This time I placed it online & got to see the many side options they have and joined their rewards program. I've tried twice since then to get them again, once for online order (1hr wait) and another for a reservation (Saturday 2 hour wait) but haven't had them since because the Wraps went viral. The last time I visited, the restaurant was extremely busy. I was seated near the doors, where many customers were standing and waiting for to-go orders. While I waited, I noticed that several people had been standing there for a very long time. One woman had been waiting for over an hour because she was there the entire time I was at my table. When another customer walked in and commented on the crowd, the woman agreed and mentioned how long she had been waiting. A waitress, who appeared to be in her 40s or 50s, overheard the conversation and confronted the woman. She got very close to her face, accused her of trying to ruin the restaurant's business and told her not to talk to their customers. The woman looked visibly uncomfortable and started defending herself. At one point, it seemed like the confrontation could become physical until the waitress stormed off. The waitress later returned with her food, shoved the bag at her, and continued speaking to her rudely. The entire interaction was extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable to witness. No customer should be treated that way for calmly stating how long they have been waiting. My own food arrived nearly two hours after I ordered and was cold. That experience was enough to make me never want to return. read more

After hearing all the rave, we decided to try Basilico on a Sunday. We heard that's the only day lasagna is served, so it's only right we go then. We were seated quickly, a dim atmosphere, great customer service from the time we arrived until we left. Started off with a fresh basket of garlic knots, they lacked flavor and tasted bland. Then ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, they were fresh, flavorful and crispy. The marinara sauce complimented them well. Our side salads were fresh, and I opted for ranch dressing instead of Italian. Lasagna for the main entree, it was a big portion and piping hot. My overall experience was a good one, I would only suggest that the food be seasoned a little more to avoid the blandness. I will definitely be back to try again. If you love authentic Italian then you must try Basilico-Italiano. I chose to go on a Sunday for lunch to try their homemade lasagna. It is made on Sundays only. Appetizers are also half price from 12-4 on Sundays. My 6 year old can make a meal of meatballs, so we started with the large order of baked meatballs. When they arrived I could not believe they were the size of baseballs and beyond exceptional. Probably the best meatballs I have had at a restaurant in Charlotte. Our server, Michael paced the arrival of our plates perfectly and was attentive. The restaurant itself was cozy and reminded me of the Italian restaurants were have been to in NY. My Mom and I chose to share a small order of bruschetta and a small harvest salad. Both were fantastic! Finally we all split a small order of lasagna. The menu is expansive with single servings or larger portions for family style. Ceasar salads and garlic knots all around (not a kale fan), meatball parmigiano, caprese salad, chicken tuscano and chicken picata both with linguine. Most recently, I asked to sit outside--there were only two occupied tables--but was told it would be a 30-minute wait. We sat at the bar instead and were repeatedly overlooked.
