We bought gift cards at Christmas and spent over $1k. One of the cards was not activated. When I asked for the card to be activated WITH receipts and proof, I was told that I had to take it to the Giant Eagle location that we purchased them from. This was very inconvenient. The Manager would not come out and talk to me and the associate was very condescending with no apology. As big as the company is, they could have loaded the Gift Card since I provided proof. Needless to say, we will be buying our gift cards from Kroger. And all future food purchases. read more

No cashiers when I brought forward the fewer items than I would have if I would have had a basket. Cash register asked if I brought bags. No. Then asks if I want to buy bags. Well dang! I usually go to the Ge on Sawmill or the one in Dublin near Perimeter. Lovely stores on their own, but I was advised to go to this one as it was supposedly the best on in Cbus. They weren't lying!!! I felt my inner bougie rising up while perusing the store. The mushroom station caught my eye immediately as I had not seen that in the other GE's. Clean store and really nice and helpful staff (shout out to Heidi at the door and Bonnie at the register). I think it is worth it yo check out this location for your shopping needs. read more

This isn't my go-to Giant Eagle because it's a little out of the way for me. However, I do stop by from time to time if I'm in the neighborhood. It seems to be larger than the one in Grandview, but it could just be a layout, which is a little weird when you're in the dairy and pharmacy sections. All in all, it is kept clean and the staff is helpful if need be. The produce section is large and everything looks to be fresh and well maintained. They also have a good number of local products. I noticed Darista Dips and a few others. I can say that I spent a good amount of time looking for items, as they aren't always where you think they would go. That's when the help from their staff comes in handy. I don't do my regular shopping here but I definitely appreciate it as a back-up option. read more

This was my first time at this location. I've been to another one on Sawmill Road. I kinda liked this one more. It felt really huge and open. On a Sunday evening at 7:30, it was busy in the upstairs area! Lots of students studying or socializing. It's a huge space though! And while it was busy, there were still tons of tables open. They've got complimentary water and ice and you can use their WiFi. We went downstairs a quarter til 9 and it had just about cleared out up there. They do have bathrooms up there. Multiple stalls, but the bathroom itself wasn't as large as I thought it would be. I like the color scheme in here. It's very much fall colors: Browns, dark reds, etc. It was calming. I walked around a bit with my friend to see if they still had some sushi. Score! I found a spicy California roll that was made with quinoa and brown rice. $5! It also had imitation crab, avocado, cucumber, and some kind of seasoning to give it a kick. It was just alright, but I'd love to try another kind. My friend bought 2 cases of water for $5! And she grabbed a grab and go dinner that was around $8 ish. It was meatloaf with mashed potatoes and veggies. It looked tasty! I really liked the grab and go section. They had more than just sandwiches. We used the self scan which was quick and easy. Parking lot was getting empty as it was already past 9. Where you put the carts was interesting. It's not like Kroger. It's almost like a little space in between the sidewalks. Anyway, I'll be back to hang out here some more and try the food! Liquor Department: another example of lazy staff and poor customer service. I called to ask about some crown royal that they had in stock. Ryan couldn't be bothered. His training kicked in and in a very customer friendly way he told me he didn't have time and didn't know and that I would have to stop in to see if they had what I wanted. Well fuck him if I'm going to drive a distance to just be disappointed that they don't have it in stock. Gas is $3 a gallon. I guarantee that the crown royal was only 5' away from where he was answering phones. LAZY. This supermarket is fantastic! We don't have anything like this in South Florida that I'm aware of, I'm so jealous! They have a very large prepared-foods section with high quality selections, and a small bar area with beer on tap and flat screens televising sports. What more could you ask for when shopping for groceries? I must admit we were looking for a liquor store for some time and were thoroughly confused by the name "state liquor agency"...it sounds more like where a business would apply for a license to sell liquor, not where consumers buy their liquor. The selection of beer, wine, and liquor is also really big. read more

This was probably one of the most well stocked and clean Giant Eagle Markets I have been in. the bourbon selection was out of this world and they had a lot of store picks and many hard to find items. We ended up getting some deli meat and the associate behind the counter was very helpful. The bakery had some super fresh bread and a huge selection of well priced loaves. this is centrally placed within upper Arlington and very close to Houlihan's bar. I would definitely go out of my way to visit this location just based on how well stocked it was. Very nice! read more

I have an interesting time at this Giant Eagle. It's one of the biggest in this chain. This is not always a good thing. It's hard to find stuff in here. They have way too much stuff to sort through. I have not been in many bigger stores. It has more stuff in it than anyone will ever need. They have some interesting products and beer and wine selection. It also has lots of stuff in the bulk bins. The salad bar is really big. It also has lots of interesting counters in the food court. The food court is fun to explore. It's a nice store but the layout causes me to have the same complaints as others about this location. There needs to be better organization here. It always seems to be a hard time making it around the store. The layout really sucks, and it's so scattered it took me forever to find anything. It needs to be more organized. This store could simply be too big. It also has a problem if you want to complete your regular shopping. The prices are not the best. I won't do my regular shopping here. Because I love this store, I ordered a half sheet cake from the bakery for a birthday party having high hopes that the bakery would be as wonderful as the rest of the store. My order was simple, I wantedfall fall colored piping on the edges and flowers in the corners.The person who took the order had a hard time hearing and we had to go over the order multiple times before I finalized it and paid for the cake. The receipt read just as I wrote above. At pick-up the cake had orange piping around the edges and a big black pick-up truck with pumpkins in the back of it and stalks of wheat. The truck and wheat covered the majority of the middle of the cake so there was no space to decorate as I had planned. This was disappointing on so may levels. This cake was for a 15 year old girls birthday. Needless to say, it wasn't even close to what I wanted or had ordered. Whtat I ordered was plain and simple. This looked cartoonish and skilless. Add to this, the cake was super dry. I paid $47 and some change for this cake. It was a total disappointment as no cut piece was finished by guests and the majority of the cake went to the trash. I will still shop the store, but never again will I order a cake from the bakery. read more

This is my favorite location; the best Giant Eagle I've ever been to! It's huge and spacious. I've always had pleasant, friendly cashiers and everyone is very helpful. The *only* reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because their fresh counter items, or food bars, or whatever they're called, have zero gluten free options. However, I did appreciate that the gentleman behind the counter told me upfront that they don't prepare anything with gluten free in mind. He was really nice! It's a great store in a great location with friendly employees. My only complaint is their lack of gluten free items, but if that doesn't apply to you, than it'd be perfect! read more

Sooo frustrating! It really should be an amazing store, which, full disclosure I shop from home at. More and more lately they are messing up my orders, choosing products that are close to what I ordered yet not what I ordered, or substituting things without my permission or any way to decline them. I call, they apologize, they promise a refund and...I never get it. I've dealt with the same person multiple times, she heads up the online grocery department. She's pleasant on the phone, promises to get things corrected, and that's as far as it goes. Every time. It's exhausting and frustrating. This is our go to place for our weekly fix of beer since they have a great selection. It's easy to navigate for grocery items so I sometimes shop here too. I haven't been to 6 for 6 (6 wine tastings for $6) in a while, but they have food samples and wine tastings on Fridays, which is a good value! Monday's you can get a 16 inch pizza for $8. Good deal for the $, but mediocre in quality. This past time we got a double pepperoni pizza and it was on par with single pepperoni pizzas elsewhere. Also, the pizza had a strong blue cheese flavor, which made it unpalatable. We threw the rest away because we couldn't get over the weird flavor. We hardly ever waste food so you know it was bad. I submitted a survey with feedback so they can at least be aware that blue cheese is completely inappropriate for a pepperoni pizza. Hopefully they change it moving forward. read more

This is a really nice Giant Eagle location, with a lot of good amenities, including a food court with outdoor (weather permitting) and upstairs seating, a great variety of ready to eat foods, along with their deli and bakery, a bank, and a pharmacy. There is plentiful parking and friendly and helpful staff. They've made some helpful accommodations during COVID - they have one way aisles, clearly marked entrances and exits to keep everyone heading in the same direction, they have someone in charge of cleaning each cart between uses, and marks for 6 ft spacing by the registers. I have even had a staff member ask the person behind me to step back to provide social distancing space, when I hadn't seen them there. They also offer curbside pickup, in addition to in-store shopping. I do find that their regular prices on a lot of items tend to be marked up, but sale/clearance items are quite competitive, and I like their overall atmosphere/service so there's something to be said for the trade-off. read more

This store is hilarious - it's so gigantic and unwieldy, it's hard to call it a grocery store. After winding my way through the restaurants and markets, finally realizing there is a standard grocery store hidden amongst the beautiful endcaps and trendy cheese and meat offerings, I actually laughed out loud thinking of how this could POSSIBLY be a place you would come with a list on a weekly basis expecting to find everything you need in a reasonable amount of time. That said, I will be going back. I enjoy being overwhelmed at times. The Clintonville Giant Eagle can definitely be underwhelming - but that's what I look for in a neighborhood grocery store. Market District accosts all the senses and somehow makes you feel as if you need to buy sushi and pulled pork and potato pancakes and salad and some weird Swiss dish, all for a one person dinner. I'm not mad, I'm impressed! It is silly for someone to think that people will actually do their standard grocery-store shopping here. Strangely enough, they didn't have nearly the selection of standard items as it first appears, including my favorite brand of flour (Montana Sapphire- Clintonville GE has this every time I'm there). But if you drove all the way out to UA, parked, and took a shuttle to a grocery store for one or two specific items, I think you have other issues. Go there to be overwhelmed by food and how cool it can look. Talk to the employees (the place is TEEMING with them) about how it is to work there. Ask the butcher how many people actually buy the python, or if they really believe that laypeople know what charcuterie means. Just stand in the produce section and take it all in. Market District is all about overwhelming the senses and they've done a good job of it. If you enjoy that kind of thing, you will enjoy it there. read more

Grab a meal of freshly baked pizza, BBQ pulled pork or maybe a burger. Or - shock! - you can do some food shopping. Maybe even buy some bulk chipotle peppers. About the only thing you *can't* do at Giant Eagle Market District is sleep off all that food & booze. Ok let me obsess about the bar for a moment: Just $4 for a pint and you take your beer along in your cart's cup holder! Flights $5 for 4. Refill a growler for $12. Happy hour M-Th, $1 off drafts. Sample some wines by the ounce from the nitrogen-equipped dispensing machines. The last time I visited a dude was fire roasting huge batches of green chili peppers freshly delivered from Hatch, New Mexico right out front in a drum, wow did that smell fantastic. On this latest trip I saw that they have recreated a Liquor Agency in the store, the name a throwback to the days of the Ohio state stores, big big selection. Much to their credit, no video ads play as you're checking out, those drive me nuts. Not feeling well? There's also a walk-in clinic affiliated with OSU and staffed by a nurse-practitioner. This place is to supermarkets what the Playboy Mansion is to bachelor pads. This store is overwhelming and it's hard to know where to start or how much to include. The place is huge, it has everything food related you could possibly ever need and plenty more you never knew existed. Everything is of the utmost quality and service is beyond what you'd ever expect. This place is the gold standard by which all supermarkets should be measured. There's a full food court with gourmet food of all types, a hot bar, cold bar, huge salad bar, prepared foods to go and hot soups. There's every kind of food you can imagine in there, premade by talented chefs and ready to eat or take home. There's a seating area downstairs and another upstairs overlooking the store. There's free wifi up there and a handful of couches and leather chairs. In addition to the expansive food court options, there's a cofee bar, smoothie bar, wine by the glass, an array of natural and exotic sodas and teas and juices, candy store with fine chocolates, trail mix bar, gelatto served, pastries and cakes and cupcakes that are so pretty you hardly want to ruin them by eating them, all kinds of exotic herbs and plants in produce, cotton candy, a place to make your own nut butters, all kinds of dried fruits. I think if I tried to list everything this place offers, I'd run out of space. There's also a kitchen where chefs sometimes do demonstrations, there's a beuatician, a clinic, handmade soaps so fragrant it's intoxicating, a place to get coffee beans roasted on the spot, cheeses and meats aged on site, a variety of olive oils you can sample. In the meat department they have all kinds of marinated and seasoned meats, and even specialty meats like rattlesnake (yes rattlesnake), rabbit, bison, and more. All the food I've ever eaten here and everything I've ever sampled has been mouthwatering delicious. The produce has always been ripe and perfect (except for some tomatoes one time). Everything I've ever bought has been fresh and perfect. Everything they do is over the top. Everything is presented beautifully and it's the best you've ever had. The service here is remarkable as well. Remember those hokey training videos you had to watch when you started your first customer service job? Well the service here is actually like that. Everyone seems to actually enjoy helping people, answering questions, taking your groceries out for you; they'll bend over backwards for you. This place is a role model for all stores. This is what everyone else should be striving to be like. This store is also elegant and in a beautiful shopping plaza. They have live music Friday nights along with a wine tasting. Thursdays they have kids movies they show. At Christmas time they were doing horse drawn carriage rides. This place is more than just a supermarket, it's an experience and it's fun to go to every time. This is a grocery store on mega steroids. Located in Upper Arlington, OH the public demonstration kitchen has already hosted "Man vs. Food" and my family three times in its' first five days of life. Made to order meal choices include subs, pizza, ribs, sushi, chicken, smoothies, and an endless salad bar- made to order tossed salads are also available. This store includes one of the ten best wine stores I've visited and the number 1 cheese store I have seen. Some 200 yards east of the wine is an Ohio State medical center quick serve location, operated by a nurse practitioner. Parking lot shuttle service is available for those that are forced to park more than a Jack Nicklaus long drive away. This location is worthy of a married couple date night and perfect to help kill 2 hours of a quiet fall day. read more

My Mom and I decided to check out this new Giant Eagle store since we were in the neighborhood earlier today. When we first walked in, we were taken in by all the prepared foods areas. You could buy a salad, premade for $6-7 each, or you could build your own for $6/lb. Yeah, that was a little steep for me. (I could get one ordered and made just right from Bob Evans!) The rest of the store seemed to be ok. Alot of their items were WAY overpriced and each department was big. The bakery had a wide variety of baked good and premade tarts, etc. We even saw a sign for "Fuit Bites". (Um, note the 'r' was missing -- even from the sign on the shelf.) Anywho ... we walked around the store and checked things out. The store is nice and was really impressed with how they 'upgraded' the Kingsdale Shopping Center area too. read more

This is far more than a grocery store, so cool in fact that when my South Beach living family came to visit THIS is what i showed off to them. Of course we also went to North Market, but I think they were more impressed with Giant Eagle! Being here for only two days they couldn't help themselves from oohing and ahhing over everything and filling up two carts with stuff that is now left at our house (french wine, olives, loaves of bread...) and stuff that got hidden in their suitcases like cheese and exotic meats (sure glad I'm not on that plane) chocolate, self made peanut butter, bakery items... There are about 20 Giant Eagle closer to my house but every so often I just have to come here, stare at the hot foods, shop, sample the amazing ice cream ( I swear on par with Jeni's), sample the fresh bread, even my son has a blast, both at the Eagles Nest and running around shoveling food in his face while we shop. I believe we should treat everyone as we would want to be treated. The fact that they have two people who are in charge that cannot be professional can set the tone for an establishment. This place has all the usual Big Bird features, plus the extra fancy Market District stuff with freshly prepared food and wine and beer on tap. If I was a college or grad student studying for a test or finals (it's been awhile since I've been in that position...), GE Market District would be a fantastic place to spend the day studying. There's free wifi, a separate area to sit with big tables and access to food, caffeine and alcohol (when you're done, of course). My experience at store was very uncomfortable, I always start my shopping trip with Starbucks but that ended abruptly from the level of service I received from the associates which I never experienced while placing any order, it's awful to feel like l you're bothering someone who works with people everyday . I went to this store expecting to be "wowed"...and I was!! Wow!! This is the worst grocery store/"super"market I have ever been to!!!!! It's kinda like the super-hot chick who agrees to go out with you and though she looks AWESOME...she's bat-s**it crazy and you need to run away..pronto. I went at a good time (mid-day on a Monday) and found the crowd to be very manageable, so my review isn't based on going at a crazy time of day/week. The experience was truly horrible. The horrors: 1) The regular grocery portion of tthe store is horribly laid out...lots of dead-ends and sections separated from aisles that make no sense. Try to get to meats from anywhere near the front of the store. like a rat in a maze. 2)Selection is ATROCIOUS...way worse than the GV GE, and on par with the Hilliard GE. Sure...they've got elk and rattlesmake and python (all faves ::rollseyes::) but if you want pork or beef ribs, you gotta buy the prewrapped 5lb package...no butcher service at all (1 guy working the counter who is in bad need of a hearing aid. he said "What?" and had to repeat back every customer order that I saw). 3) Merchandising is nonsensical. Name brands are well-hidden in favor of GE brand stuff (about 300 bags of GE/Value time chips...2 bags of ruffles, eg). Also...Rao's sauces in the baby food aisle????? WTF??? 4) WORST EMPLOYEES and VENDORS EVVAH!! There are almost as many employees as customers and they are either giving out samples (um...milk samples?? really??), accosting you for various programs, walking/talking while blocking aisles (two times I had to do the "ahem...ecxuuuse me") or being completely incompetent in maintaining clear aisles. I saw at least 6 instances of EMPTY stocking carts (filled with empty boxes) orphaned in aisles, blocking passage and access to the merchandise. If it's empty, wheel it away. Also saw stocking carts with stock still on them abandoned(stocker prolly one of those walker/talkers). Vendors were racing around trying to stock too....and again...this is mid-day on a week-day. Vendors can and will arrive at off-hours if you ask them 5) The "Hot Bar" in the prepared food section has one protein: chicken. Fried wings and breasts (oh...sorry...one baked option)..and that's it!!! The Soup bar had two things 1) Chili (3 types) and 2) Vegetable soup. Honestly....I ended up leaving thinking "I have to go to the GV Giant Eagle to get the stuff I missed due to not passing it by in the normal row-to-row shopping experience. Horrible...and likely unfixable. Oh...the good????? The imported/specialty cheese selection was great and the bakery section looked great too. Lots of cashiers who moved things along nicely. Avoid. This is a massive, beautiful store - but not quite my cup of tea. Even though I didn't love Market District, I'm going to focus on a lot of the positives because this store could rock your world! I walked in and kinda had a panic attack. MD is so big, and it was packed with so many people that they actually offered a shuttle service to transport shoppers from far away parking lots. Seriously. But the mister convinced me to stay, and soon I was meandering through the produce section for over an hour. The produce here is effing awesome! I'm totally a produce junkie, and this place was my crack. I've already called Promises and told them to make space for me in Lindsey Lohan's room. For the rest of my review, I'm going to make three lists: one to show the different areas of MD, one for the things I loved at MD, and one for my wishes at MD. Layout * Produce: larger than Whole Foods, some local and some not, some organic and some not * Bulks: nuts, seeds, rice, candy, spices, etc. * Ready-mades: amazing-looking dinners, yummy gelato, soups, etc. * Bakery: omg! delicious-looking pies, pastries, and breads, and everything is made in-house! * Seafood/Meats: I'm not really a meat person, but it looked like everything you could ever want! * Ethnics: more than just one aisle! Way to go! * Dairy: cheese heaven, and they have Snowville Creamery milk! * Everything else: yep, they have all that other regular stuff too! My parents love this place, and I love my parents, but sometimes when A equals B, A most definitely does not equal C. I've been here three times now, because I really want to like this store, but it just makes me want to scream in frustration. The joint is laid out a bit like a cell, with the nucleus being the regular old grocery store aisles in the center, surrounded by a large ring of specialty shops, food bars, and displays. (I guess those would be the organelles or something? Science was a long time ago, okay?) This sounds much more simplistic than it actually is. Each time I've been here, there has been something I haven't been able to find, despite walking ten laps around the store and being pointed in the right direction by employees. Why is the packaged bread so far from the bakery? Why is the sushi bar next to the saltwater taffy and fudge? It's impossible to predict the location of anything. Being inside this place for five minutes gives me the same feeling I get when I've spent seven hours at the state fair. It's all of the exhaustion and headache with none of the butter cow. read more

My favorite aspects are: - Exotic meats! - Nostalgic candy section! - Serve-yourself wine tasting dispenser! - Get all your specialty items AND your regular groceries in ONE STORE! - Fuelperks! - Cooking demos! - Ah-MAZE-ing food court area for hot plates and prepared items! - Open 24 hours! - Helpful clerks! - Fresh pasta case! - Bulk items: coffee roasted in house, oils, vinegars! But be prepared for: - Crowds. - Tight parking. - The wine and beer area being really far away from the regular grocery area. - Massiveness making it difficult to just pop in for a few things. - Dessert case is not as awesome as Whole Foods. Meh = my feelings about this market. Yes, it is big and beautiful from an aesthetic standpoint. But from a practical, squeaking-by-on-a-post-college-budget, it doesn't do so well. It definitely caters to folks who have money to spend, and want to be seen spending it on upscale groceries, which is probably why I feel so awkward with my coupons and comparison shopping. Staples such as baking supplies are considerably higher than other grocery stores, even other Giant Eagles. I bought some Italian sausage here which in terms of both price and flavor didn't compare to Carfagna's. There are definitely some cool things, like ground buffalo and duck bacon, prepared foods, and a wide selection of beer and wine, but most of this is outside the scope of my current food budget. For someone like me who looks for the very best prices and doesn't mind driving to a couple of different stores to stock up on things, this store just doesn't do it. However, I do live just down the street from this grocery store, so it does get points for being convenient to where I live and being open 24 hours a day. I have come late in the evening and found it to be much less crowded, and consequently, less stressful. read more

With the opening of Lucky's Market and the disappearance of the good deals that I used to get here (sayonara, affordable pecorino romano), plus the stupid-insane prices they have on random staple items (I inadvertently paid six dollars for two tiny bunches of broccoli recently . . it wasn't labeled whether it was per bunch or per pound; I stupidly assumed that nobody would charge three. dollars. for that tiny lil bunch of broccoli--turns out I was super-wrong about that), I officially can't stand shopping at Market District for anything but a few specialty items. Things I do still like: the bulk bins, when it's later in the evening and the better places that have bulk bins are closed; feta cheese by-the-pound in the cheese section; their store brand thick-cut bacon (it's really effing good bacon, even if they did raise the price and, I think, trim down the package size); the fact that they carry Chuao potato chip chocolate bars (heaven); the bread section. The fact that they're open 24/7, which is really the only reason I ever, ever go. My last shopping trip, I probably paid between 1.5x and 2x the money for groceries there than I would have paid anywhere else--and this is for basic stuff. Bell peppers. Broccoli. Cilantro (which was WELL OVER A DOLLAR A BUNCH for non-organic, wth? I don't even think I pay that much at Whole Foods). Onions and potatoes. I just can't afford to pay their massive overhead with my basic food needs, I guess. I'm not saying they're a bad market, but there are better upscale markets *and* better markets where you can find bargains. Market District has this weird in-between vibe that doesn't make it worth visiting for me. read more

This is my favorite grocery shop in all of Columbus. They've got a good wine selection They've got wine tasting you can do while you shop They've got a pretty decent beer selection They've got an absurd amount of food selections for your grocery shopping They've got really good food to eat while you're there They've got a great deli They've got a really good cheese selection They've got around 300 checkout registers running, plus or minus a few (I may be off a bit on that one) They've got a huge produce selection I could go on and on about the awesomeness of this place but I'll stop. The only real drawback is that it's a bit of a drive and traffic can get sort of snarled down around that shopping center. Parking is not usually a problem. If I lived down by this place I'd only go here but since I don't I only get to here about once every few months. It's worth the trip. read more
