This is your typical big giant Supermarket. I've come here a few times and customer service is always friendly and efficient as possible. I visited in early July 2024 on a quick trip while out with a friend. We had just gotten some ice-cream next door at Rita's Ice Cream/Custard and she needed a few groceries for the upcoming new week. I wasn't planning on buying anything but I bought a few items. FOOD -- They sell al sorts of groceries from bread, to meats, to juices, to vegetables. During my July 2024 visit, I bought 2 jugs of water, a small pack of frozen vegetables, some garlic bread, orange juice, and a small container of peanuts. The whole price was about $25 to $30. As the other reviewers have commented this place has gone downhill steadily since COVID. Produce is hit or miss rarely has everything I need. Over the last year I've quit buying my meat here simply because it's subpar. The customer service is the worst of all the giant eagles in the area. Do yourself a favor and drive a little extra and go to the nice giant eagles in North Olmsted. It's worth the drive. read more

This store has gone downhill. They sold me bad medicine, bad meat and now bad milk. There's milk cooler has been missing the door for 3 months. 3 MONTHS!!! No door! I'm calling the health department. The bad chicken was the last straw. It said packed on the day I bought it, but it was clearly a week old. I was chef, so nobody knows bad chicken like a chef knows. I don't trust any of their prepared meals. OLD! Go by the deli where the chicken salad is and chicken and you will see at nighttime it's never been put away. It's been sitting out with a piece of paper covering it for days. DAYS!!! I'm sure the mice are having a party in there. Another thing, their veggies are ROTTON! I'm so tired and fed up with bad food I just want something done at this point. I contacted a friend who shops at a different giant eagle location and she too got old prepared chicken. This store used to be a great place to shop. It has gone downhill over the last year. I went twice in the last few weeks to pick up groceries for Thanksgiving. I will not go back again. The first time I went, the young cashier, a man, sat on a stool. I came up to the counter. He finally got up to ring up my purchases. $180.00 later, there was a lot to pack. He moved everything down to the end of the belt and watched me pack! Then he announced what I owed and in frustration, I politely told him I'd pay after I got done packing everything. He packed one bag! I thought this was a fluke. No, I was WRONG. I went yesterday to get a few other items. Not a lot. The same thing happened and the cashier watched while I packed three bags. Again announcing what I owed and this time I spoke out loudly and said "You'll have to wait until I finish packing my bags" There is no assistance to the customer. I watched as older consumers struggled to get their bags packed. I won't go back. Even the less expensive store across the street, Marc's, the cashiers help to pack the bags! read more

This location is the only one I like to get sushi at. They make it taste great and don't add a ton of carrots as filler like other locations do. They also always have the brown rice option available. One one time they didn't and the gentleman made it fresh for me. They even have Starbucks if you get thirsty while shopping. Staff is friendly. read more

Customer service at the Customer Service Desk is the worse! Often closes at 12, sometimes 2P due to "staffing problems". Everywhere I ever worked everyone was cross trained for other jobs to avoid "staffing problems". This has been commonplace for months. The customers that have dropped off dry cleaning and go in to pick it up are unable to do so due to this never ending "staffing problems" situation. I have ordered delivery of food and pretty much 90% of time at least 2 items are not available . 2 is being generous on the number. Items no subductions offered items were not on sale so they should have the simple cream cheeses bagels etc. don't even bother with deli pasta salads I never get what I order I get NOTHNG . A sign out front says you need to wear a mask. Half of the customers were not. Five women, working in the deli were not wearing their masks correctly, one had it under her chin, 3 had it under their noses and one was wearing some sort of mesh nonsense mask under her nose. In the meat section 4 employees were wearing their masks incorrectly. The cashier was also wearing his mask under his nose. In fact, I only saw 1 employee in the store wearing a mask correctly and one employee cleaning grocery carts wearing her mask correctly. The bakery here is the best of the surrounding Giant Eagles. The staff is always very friendly and incredibly accommodating. I often place large donut orders with them for school functions. I made a HUGE mistake in the amount I ordered and felt terrible. The staff was so nice despite the extra work they now had to put in and made it work while still allowing me to get to my event on time. read more

Seriously not going back here again. Produce was not stocked , no bananas, strawberries, lemons, or broccoli. Meat also no stocked, no ground beef, limited 5 for 20, empty hot dogs and bacon. Empty creamer and half and half. No Similac, no news papers. Peanut butter still out of stock after more then a month. At 11 am on Saturday. Keep in mind that I also could barely navigate the store since there were cart and carts of stuff blocking almost every Isle of stock waiting to be put out but nothing that was actually an empty shelf. I don't normally shop at Giant Eagle anymore - My visit was only because I had to purchase Starbucks for a meeting. FYI - I feel their prices are way out of bounds and not a fan of the stale environment they created. Including the way customers contact them with issues. I would have liked to share a photo of their filthy restroom in Rocky River complete with toilet paper dispenser that has fallen off the wall and sitting on the floor surrounded in filth. Disgusting! Unfortunately their online contact system wont allow it. Either-way I waited until I got back to work for relief. I live 3 minutes from another Giant Eagle but choose to drive 10+ minutes to this one because it's so much nicer! While smaller, it has a selection more geared towards my needs and the employees are so much nicer and more helpful. Even on busy days, it's not a bad experience because it's well taken care of and the other customers are polite too. My only negative is the checkouts. I wish the staff up here was as nice and as professional as the other employees here. Many of the cashiers can be unfriendly and mine today was in such a rush she was practically throwing my items down the belt. I also wish they would let me bag my own items so I don't have a mess to deal with. Maybe they should start making their baggers play Tetris so they know how to pack better! read more

This giant eagle has a Starbucks cafe that has become my favorite go to place for coffee with friends or business meetings. The Starbucks is never as crowded as the other 2 in Rocky River with 3 times the space. It is always quiet and offers other cafe offerings from the store. The variety for lunch is great. I ducked into the store after a meeting to pick up a couple of items and loved my ability to pay at the cafe counter. The store is small enough to get in a d out if quickly and offers a great variety Great experiences come primarily from the cafe. read more

I hate this Giant Eagle. Nevermind the long lines. I shop on Sunday mornings, and I know that's just a product of the day I choose to shop. Forget that the produce often times looks a day or two from expiring. Ignore the fact that the store is so unnecessarily large that you need to stretch before you go, lest you pull a muscle or injure yourself in some spectacular fashion. The biggest gripe about this Giant Eagle in particular is that the store seems to think that when the store is the busiest, that's when you ought to stock your shelves. There's nothing better than your frustration here at the Rocky River Giant Eagle, and I suspect they must power the store via some method that takes your swear words at the carts blocking the aisles. Three carts of frozen food in the middle of the store? Why not! Three kids stocking one shelf of yogurt? Fantastic idea. Fourteen Pepsi reps standing around and talking about the latest product, blocking the entire aisle and staring at you when you dare ask them to move? I've just had FABULOUS Pad Thai. Twice. It wasn't from any restaurant I've tried in Cleveland (all good), or one from Hawaii (great), or even Thailand (maybe excellent, but I have no idea since I've never been there), but from a location much closer to my home. Of all places, from a local grocery store---the recently-opened ASIAN WOK inside the Rocky River Giant Eagle. I love Asian dishes. Even tried my hand at Pad Thai. (Almost.) Many years ago--- well before the ingredients could be found in neighborhood grocery stores, before Food Network debuted, or Rachel Ray ever even thought she'd be handing out food samples to cart-pushing shoppers in supermarkets, and our very own Michael Symon was probably just starting out doing restaurant grunt work (washing dishes, trimming meats, and prepping lettuce for salads)---I confidently collected all the necessary Pad Thai elements from Asian shops in downtown Cleveland. ~~~ After that wonderful Pad Thai from Hawaii, as soon as I returned home, I was determined to find that full-of-flavor, silky-noodle-filled, chopped-nut topped goodness somewhere close by. Unfortunately, of the few Thai restaurants here, none came close. And since another-in-the-foreseeable-future-trip to that suburb of Waikiki, was out of the question, I was left with only one option---to try duplicating it myself. It was going to be authentic---which I assumed was the one from that small, friendly Thai-owned diner. Mistake. I'd been overconfident. I couldn't get past the tiny dehydrated shrimp. I won't say what they reminded me of, but the enthusiasm of making my own Pad Thai fell flat. Never made it. (It was a ridiculous psychological thing I couldn't get past.) I used the dozen or so ingredients for other Asian dishes, and threw out the dehydrated shrimp. ~~~ I wouldn't have another fabulous Pad Thai until nearly 25 years later---about 10 days ago. Ate it there, and ordered it again---3 days after---for takeout. Second just as great-tasting, but with more nuts. Prefer fewer. (Ask for a light amount. I'd recommend no more than a teaspoons worth.) Shrimp. Small, maybe 1" diameter, but very flavorful for this size. And LOTS of them. Didn't sit there counting, but maybe a dozen. They're weighed for consistency. Smart. I don't know if theirs is "authentic", but I don't really care. And I doubt that they are, but if all the elements are delivered to GE pre-made, frozen, dehydrated, concentrated, or even powdered, the end results are 5 star. This is a sensible UN-SPICY preparation, suitable for the majority of tastes. Sriracha---the way I like it---are at the tables, or if takeout, add before leaving. One generous serving is enough for 3 normal-sized meals. EXCELLENT value. This was a REAL FIND, for sure. They have OTHER Asian dishes, too, plus ones you can customize. In of all places, a non-Asian grocery store? Totally impressed. With their Pad Thai...and the smiling, super-friendly help behind that counter. Good job, GE. Good job. read more

One of my favorite things about the Rocky River Giant Eagle is the sushi bar. I enjoy rolls for lunch once a week. This is a hidden gem. The sushi chef is good, and he's always making it fresh weekdays during lunchtime. Spicy tuna and California rolls are my fav. read more

Stopped at the bakery and they didn't have any Cinn. loaf cake for my husband....Well....thank you to Rick for going on the truck that had just arrived and bringing it out to the counter for me. Worst bakery dept. I was told by someone that actually work there at that time that hey scrape the old icing off old cakes when the cakes get too old ,and put old icing on new cakes. Since the remodel of the store, I prefer this location over any other. The Wok, amazing. The chef's that make the dish for you are super friendly and always talk to you. Starbucks however is lacking, slow as all get out. Coffee in crafts that do not stay hot like they do at other locations. Cashiers are friendly (most of them). Shelves are always stocked and never not have what you are looking for. Other locations would really benefit from this store. read more

This is a very clean and organized store. Ever since the renovations, this Giant Eagle has been able to sustain large crowd sizes and welcome many guests for their occasional live showings. Among the great attributes to this story include a liquor cell, a winery, a fresh market cafe, and even a Starbucks. It's always a good time coming to this store. Typically Giant Eagle's are well-known grocery stores because they offer daycare centers while Mommies do the shopping, but this Giant Eagle is so much more than that. Though the hours have been reduced from 24 hours to 19 hours a day it happens to really packed during the day and in the evening but there are still a handful of shoppers are there after midnight. It is also located in a fine area on Center Ridge Road. Next to the AMC plaza,it is ideal to grab a bite at the cafe then proceed to catching a film later. It is very family-friendly and the employees seem experienced and polite. read more

Weak store in a weak chain. When prices are high and selection is most obviously based on profit maximization, one has to think quality will be high to maintain market share? Not with Giant Eagle! They have successfully beaten the competition in greater Cleveland and it shows. I am consistently disappointed with my experience in most Giant Eagle locations. While some are better than others, they are nearly all over priced and under serving their clientele when it comes to selection. I may be spoiled from living in the competitive markets of Southwest Ohio for many years, but I would to invite at least one other big national grocery chain in here to help drive up quality and selection at the very least. They have so much attitude I wanted to bitch slap those old hags back to the 60's! I was buying cigarettes and the machine told me to show my I.D. to the person so I took out my I.D. and held it up and the woman said, "don't shove it in my face!" I didn't even know she was near me! This store has the worst plan and customer service ever. We moved here from Florida 10 years ago from the world of Publix where they value their customer and product. I can't count how many times my husband has brought back bad produce. The new remodel is crazy. Do we really need a HUGE liquor store at the entrance and everything you want in the way back. And don't get me started on self check out. I'm all for it is not busy times. But to have 2or3 lines with cashiers and the rest self check out at 5pm or weekends. The lines are crazy and now that they made the aisles smaller for all the liquor its worse. Really? And like another reviewer said in these times there's 5 or 6 staff in the front doing nothing. And yes they feel it a good time to stock all the shelves also at this time. Smaller aisles, boxes, carts of products at rush time. Sounds like the perfect time to do this. Moved from Cuyahoga falls to Lakewood, and I work in Westlake. I miss my portage crossing market district. This place is sad by comparison. Half the employees seem miserable and/or oblivious to customers. Selection isn't great. Sushi is sloppy. Salad bar never seems to have blue cheese dressing, much of anything. It's ok at best. Possibly the worst laid out store in grocery store history. All the sections are cramped, if you have any claustrophobic tendencies they will come out here. If you want to go straight to the meat section you have to pass thru the ridiculously enormous wine section, or go way around which almost requires a shuttle bus. On a recent weekday visit, which I only do at this location out of extreme necessity, I attempted to go thru the wine section. Stacks of wine waiting to be shelved were in the way along with about a half dozen people, assuming wine sales reps, blocking another section. They seemed unfazed and unyielding at my attempt to get by. The meat section is super cramped and if a butcher is restocking- forget about checking out the meat. Today we were looking for pork ribs, the butcher looked also and couldn't find any- seriously, you're out of ribs. You would think this was a mom and pop deli store. We went across to Marc's where there was a nice selection of ribs. Looking for Wavy potato chips party size, none. They had 'em at Marc's. Horrible parking lot, you take your life in your hands exiting the store due to a semi-blind spot with drivers who don't heed the stop signs. I really don't understand how this store is so popular. There is another Giant Eagle, probably slightly less than 2 miles away, that is less crowded with far more room to get around. They really need to close this store, rethink the layout and try again. I went in there to but some crumbled cheese. Bought a small container and went through self check. It rang up at a higher price. I went to customer service to complain and Tom took care of me. Since it rang up at a wrong price I got the cheese for free! Nice store but right now going through remodel but then it should be even nicer! read more
