WOW, I witnessed terrible customer service tonight at Giant Eagle. I wasn't even involved. I just witnessed it. Caitlin and Employee wouldn't sell cigarettes to a customer at 9:55 PM while the store was still open. She literally said she chose not to. He recorded it and then the manager came because Caitlin was yelling. I don't consent to the recording. She doesn't consent because the store wasn't closed yet and she wouldn't sell a product that takes literally one minute to sell she spent more time arguing about not selling it to this guy when they were open. The store manager wasn't much better. Completely unimpressed with the employees here. I don't think I'll be returning to this Giant Eagle and I wasn't even involved in the interaction. I just witnessed crazy employees. Do better have better Customer Service. If someone walks in five minutes before closing, you're still open. And it only takes a minute or two to sell a pack of cigarettes. I'm not a smoker myself. I was buying food and still checking out. Today, Saturday 5/17, my wife and i did a big shopping trip to Giant Eagle . I was tasked with selecting some fish and it was late in the day and Alan was working to clean up the dept. You could tell he was quite busy but he was such a big help and did it with grace and took the time that was needed to assist. 2013 Update - Draft Beer ? Still bad service... but... I have found 1 friendly person who works the self serve check out... the rest are moody and miserable... so there is a ray of hope on that front. Wine and Seafood selection still spotty at best... Cheese Monger is helpful and the selection is good. Newest feature... draft beer? Buy an amber glass Growler for $3.99 and then bring it back for refills... the beer itself is mostly nationally known brands. We are trying Blue Moon Wheat for a first try since we know we like it. The produce folks who work the filling station have no clue what the beers are... we may have purchased a couple... but figured we would go one at a time since there was no help on the flavor to be had. Fuel perks are the only thing that get us coming back... Seafood can be had 7 miles North and Meat can be had 4 miles South on 91 for better quality at the same or lower prices... and don't even think that this bakery is worth a mention... Like every business, they do some things that annoy me, like boxing in the electric shopping carts so it is difficult to get in one. That pales in comparison to the OUTSTANDING job they have done with Curbside Pickup during the pandemic. Everyone involved seems committed to providing the best quality of food, staples, and service. As a disabled older person, this service is a real blessing. I will probably continue to use the service even after the pandemic ends, if it ever does. read more

Pulled into parking lot excited to buy groceries. Saw "cafeteria lunch lady" looking woman with a hair net smoking cigarette. Giant Eagle branding all over her. It looked as if she worked in deli or similar. Lost appetite, put car in reverse, went home and saved $150. Absolutely disgusting. Meanwhile, some corporate GE suit is out golfing. This store is enormous and has a large following in Stow. On the weekend, every nook and cranny of the parking lot is full. The store is nice and has everything you are looking for in a large grocery store. The store also has a few challenges. They need to hire more help with packing bags. One of their Cashiers put through two duplicate transactions on my bank card. It was over a holiday weekend and when I called to get it corrected, they transferred me to a Pittsburgh office where everyone was at a Holiday party and could not help me. The credit did not go through for a week. Since then, I always pay with cash only. They do some things really well. I still like to visit to get the Fuel Perks and the great selection of new and different products. read more

Pam, in the Giant Eagle Bakery, is the person to see if you need baked goods for a special event. She created the most beautiful cupcakes for a wedding shower. I gave her a picture of what I had in mind, and she made up six different sample cupcakes for me to choose from. They were very similar, if not more lovely than the photo. Pam met with me three times and was very patient and helpful sharing her expertise and suggestions. She went above and beyond to make everything right. Thank you, Pam! read more

SO been picking up my groceries for weeks from here, but the manager was vey rude and not helpful at all. She said if its not on my receipt its not their mistake. I stopped by to get hot dogs and buns. There was a display table in front of the hot dog area that had pepridge farm hotdog & Hamburg buns. The sign said "sale" and listed the prices at 95 cents. So I picked up a pack right off the table from a huge stack of identical buns, right under the sign. This was not a one off someone had dropped there. I checked for that. I also read the small print. But alas it was a waste of time. At checkout the buns rang up at $3 per pack. I just don't have the energy to fight about it anymore. I paid the $3 and won't be back. This is NOT the first time this has happened to me here. I guess they think we're all "marks" and the management of this store sits around thinking up ways to cheat the customers. I am a regular customer at the Stow Norton Road store and wish to share why I continue to shop there. I was there today and over did it a bit. Being 83, I became exhausted. The young man who was at the #1 checkout counter fetched a chair so I could gather my strength, took my purchases out of the cart, rang up the items, offered to get me an electric cart to get me to my car and someone to load my purchases for me. Glenda came over and helped package the goods. She runs the Customer Service area. Time after time over the years she has pleasantly helped me with a myriad of problems. I know I said I was done giving this bakery a chance but the maple glazed donuts looked too good to pass up. But I did. In fact, I almost propped open all of the bakery case doors so that I could let the giant, nasty house flies swarm out. They were everywhere!!!! I've complained to the company before & I always get the same lame a** emailed excuse of "We're under construction" even though they're not. So today I finally took a really good look at how so many flies could find their way into the donuts case to discover that the door on the back of the case wasn't closed. Thank you for trying to sell consumers stale, bug infested donuts. By the way, if you look at the corners of the foyer when you first enter the store- you will discover a number of mouse traps...way to win me over! This location is amazing! I've been shopping here for a year now due to new job location. The staff is exceptional--- in Customer Service , Ms Glenda, Andrew and Christine are the absolute best and always great -my daughter LOVES them !. The bakery crew is so special and polite, beyond creative. The mgr in the meat dept-- great guy and super welcoming. The whole store is staffed with awesome personnel . Most of the employees are nice and helpful. Most of the employees that run the front desk, customer service, need to be moved out. With the exception of one or two, they are a very sour bunch of grumpy workers that would be happier not dealing with the public, but probably like the workload and the status of the customer service counter. The salad and hot food bar is best before 1:00pm. After that, quality and cleanliness go downhill fast. There should be someone out there cleaning and refreshing items at least once an hour. Instead, they dump it all out there at once. This store is always "under construction"!! It is so annoying. One time I went in there with five items on my standard list (not unusual items) and they had been moved since the last time I was there. They put in a crazy, large area for Health and Beauty, so there must be money in it for them. The medicinal items used to be close and convenient, right next to the pharmacy. Now the allergy, cold and sinus is located on the other side of the store. They never, ever, ever have red tab 24-hour sudafed, so they must be supplying all of the Meth Makers in the area. I would like to see improvement in the quality of the salad bar. Heinen's is cheaper, fresher and has overall better cleanliness at their salad bar. The hot food bar, stop putting everything out at once. By the time late afternoon, early evening approaches, the chicken is dried out and anything else that is out there is overcooked. The seafood department should never smell like seafood, but often I smell it as I come around the corner from the Wine Dept. so it is not for me. Too scary. The meat department, I can hardly eat the Giant Eagle Boneless Chicken. I have pounded it, marinated it, etc. and it is still so tough. They need to look at their supply. Produce Department is one of the better in the area, but again, not as good as Heinen's. I shop here because it is awfully convenient and I like the fuel perks! read more

Can't say I'm a fan. Fuel perks are good. But, when you offer products (let's say London Broil) buy 1 get 1. And, you double the price per pound, it's really not buy 1 get 1. Deli meats are very lacking in quality. read more
