I've noticed that when onions, apples, oranges, cukes and such are BAGGED, it's a way GIANT EAGLE at 331 Washington Rd, Washington, Pa 15301 camouflages the bad veggies/ fruits. We are forced to PAY for the lot, yet must throw the rotted ones out at home. Shame on you, GIANT EAGLE. I live in Allegheny and not Washington, but I do occasionally shop here when friends and I are planning breakfast or an evening cookout together. It's a pretty standard Giant Eagle - it's not the smallest one I've shopped in but it's not as big as some of the Market Districts, either. That said, I'm not a regular Giant Eagle shopper since I have access to an Aldi; Giant Eagle is OK if you need to make a one-stop shopping trip (especially when it's decently sized like this one), but unless you pay close attention to their sales and deals, you really won't be saving money on that trip. My recommendation is to shop here in a pinch and/or if you're taking advantage of a bargain deal; but your wallet will thank you if you do your regular shopping elsewhere. read more

This weekend there was a special sale and once again, mid day on day 1 of 3 day sale sold out of the special sale items. Inquiry resulted in a "sorry" and come back tomorrow. I was so furious that this happened again that I abandoned my cart and walked out. Won't be shopping here again. read more

We do a lot of curbside pickup and delivery for our groceries, but there are a few things we prefer to pick out ourselves. The feature of Giant Eagle that I like the most is their Scan Pay Go self scan and checkout system. It is so easy. You scan your card to get a scanner, you scan your items as you shop, put them into your bag, and at the end you go to the dedicated checkout kiosk and scan the barcode. You then pay for your groceries, get your receipt, and walk out to your car. I'm surprised so many people prefer to stand in line at the traditional cashier lines. It saves so much time! Having a dedicated scanner instead of using an app on your phone is easier to handle and you don't need to worry about dropping it. I'm definitely a fan. read more

I placed an order today for delivery since I do not drive knowing it was a $9.95 delivery fee. Fine. But what they did not tell me is that they also charged me a $7.00 delivery tip. WTF? Nowhere did it say anything of the sort and what is the $9.95 for? And then they tax you yet to boot on the delivery fee. This is corporate greed at it's finest. The items are way over priced, employees are rude, and they are out of so much of the sale items. They might not make enough money on sales items, so they limit them. This store does not even deserve a 1 star. I am so done EVER shopping there again!!!! They can shove their Perks where the sun don't shine. $17.55 to get a few groceries delivered 3 miles away. As if they don't already make enough money on their overpriced food. I think people need to be aware of their bad practices!!!! And nobody is nice there. Or do they help you. This store has disappointed us over and over and over again. We shop here out of convenience because it's so close to our house. But this last experience is the last straw. Now, the pharmacy can't even follow PA law. We're done. My husband has a prescription for an injectable drug, which means he cannot take it if he doesn't have syringes. It's frustrating enough that he has to buy the syringes, and they don't come with the medication as its only possible delivery method. But this last time he refilled his prescription, he was informed they could not sell him syringes without a prescription. So he could buy the drug; he just couldn't use it. This precedent does not follow Pennsylvania law. Board Regulation Section 27.18(s) states: "Sales of hypodermic needles and syringes shall be made by a pharmacist or under the direct, immediate and personal supervision of a pharmacist in accordance with the following: (1) Hypodermic needles and syringes may be sold without a prescription. I can buy the exact same Land O Lakes cheese for half the price at Walmart. A small bag of wild rice is $7.50 at Giant eagle, it's 3.50 at Wal-Mart. There's no excuse for gouging customers this way. read more

Was leaving and they were locking the one entrance as I was like 8 feet from the door I got little kids we me and they say sir you will have to go out the other entrance which isn't that nearby, but I am shocked they wouldn't have the customer service skill to just let me through and then lock the door but they went out of way to not do that. Lazy and no concern for the customer. read more

I had a gift card so I decided I would stop in and check the beverage selection. On front entry to the left your greeted right away with the beer and wine area. They have a large selection of beers domestic and micros as well as some imports. The wine section seemed very small but still had a lot of popular choices that most people seem to drink. The prices don't seem bad being your buying a 6 pack from a grocery store so it's around what you would expect. Service was fast and friendly I'll definitely be returning. read more

We will never shop at any Giant Eagle anywhere or anytime ever again!We were told we could not apply for a store membership/rewards card because customer service was closed, nor would they use the guest card so we could receive the sale prices. We had a cart load of groceries to stock our RV with since we would hit the road in the a.m. Needless to say, we will go hungry until we have time to shop in another state, and they had to put all the groceries back. We have several locations closer to home, but stopped in for a few things since we were in the area. We were directed to the wrong aisle for one of the items we wanted and had to go searching for it ourselves. I thought the selection was rather small given the overall size of the store. Then, on a Friday at around 6, when you would think there's a lot of people picking up groceries for the weekend, there are only 2 cashiers open. I hate to do it, but felt basically forced to use the self serve. Standing a long time in line is uncomfortable for me as I have a disability and it was the last stop on a long day. I'm not impressed, and I want to be, as it seems like it could be a very nice store and I'm in the area frequently. read more

Went in today with no mask because I have chronic anxiety and major depression disorder so wearing one I sometimes get panic attacks and can't breath because I feel like I'm suffocating. I was told I had to leave the store and that they won't even let me check out because I didn't have a mask and all I wanted was a chicken breast so I could eat lunch. They have forever lost my business since they have no respect for people with illnesses that are uncontrollable. I'm ashamed and will never be shopping here ever again. Terrible place. read more

This company is HUGE and as a result, you pay. The only good deal in Giant Eagle is an item on sale. Example: Bertolli Butternut Squash Ravioli one bag $8.99 Same exact bag at Target $ 6.99 and they are still making money. People think the gas perks or money back is so nice. The giant eagle itself is nice. However the customer service received today at the cafe checkout by the young man was disappointing and not becoming of the establishment. Vitamin water was on sale for .88 and it rang up 1.59. I informed him of the sale and he said he could do nothing about it after a fellow coworker told him that it was .88 and he disregarded his coworker. So I did not purchase a drink with my meal. Giant eagle from my own experience couldn't be worse. A few weeks ago, I went to buy a cake for a friend's party and 1) all the cakes and things in the bakery section all had different prices, so I had to go back and forth to find a cake at the price that I was looking for. 2) the lady who came back with me to help me figure all this out.. didn't speak A WORD OF ENGLISH!! I asked her questions and all she said was yes. ok, 3) she wasn't even working at the bakery, she the lady who bags things, so why would they send her back there with me? Finally about 20 minutes of finding a cake I went to the check out, and the person who was scanning my food barely spoke english either.. So I gave her money and just left out of total frustration. The good part about giant eagle their fruit is cheaper compared to shop and save and other stores. That's about it. read more
