I found this place through yelp. It's about 5 miles off the highway. It's a small stand, open. No seating. Basically tacos or tortas. I may have been the only non Spanish speaking person there. Certainly seemed that way. It is well lit and reasonably priced, although I think I may have been charged more than the man after me, but perhaps he was a friend of the owner. Great tacos and tons of toppings to choose from. Food is easily 4 stars, likely 5, if you understand this is a taco stand and that's all it is. read more

When my clients in another town found out I was coming to Washington, I was told that this was the place to eat tacos. Located in a shed attached to a small groceriá, tacos is all they sell. For $2.50 each, you can buy as many as you like. They were out of chicken, so I got rib eye. Sorry I didn't take pictures, but I was hungry. I then added my toppings - lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pick de Gallo, avocado sauce. The tortillas were very good and the meat was grilled nicely. Not very much English spoken but it seems to work for everyone. This was a bit of authentic tasting tacos in northwest Pennsylvania. I just wished they served beans! 2 large, delicious tacos and a large Mexican coke set me back $7. A really good deal that took care of my hunger. read more

As good as Las Palmas 1, discovered on a road trip years ago and now the stuff of family legend... the lomo taco (whole piece of salty ribeye steak) is a must-order. Pastor is saucy and delicious, and always my favorite at any taco place. But what really makes this place is the extensive toppings bar with 6-7 salsas, onion, cilantro, pepper, tomato combos, including roasted and pickled items. From reading the reviews about the tacos and tortas....I was excited to eat some "authentic good Mexican food" I ordered a torta de asada and my husband ordered tacos de asada and carnitas. Both meats were precooked already, which they don't cook their meat fresh. The carnitas was dry and no flavor at all. The torta bread was hard when even toasted. Would not come back to eat tacos. Las Palmas has opened up #3. Similar to the other Las Palmas, with the market and Taco Stand outside. The Taco stand is on the left under a roof. The Taco stand has all the same sauces and meats. The meats are grilled on a flat grill and very tasty. The salsas are unbelievably good including a thin guac. 3 hot salsa are together on the right side and various mild salsa on the leftside. The man serving was helpful. The market/carniceria has some great selections of dried bean, produce, chiles, meats. A nice addition to Washington. There is no seating so take it with you and find a nearby park or take it home. Stop by and have a great $2 Taco. read more

Where to begin. We desperately needed tomatillos to make enchiladas verdes but none of the grocery stores had them. I googled "Mexican meat market" and this is what popped up. Best choice in Washington PA for quick cheap food. That is not saying too much in this town. But having spent time in cities that have vibrant street food options, and living here for four years, this taco stand adds a lot of value to the food scene here. Stick with the chicken, chorizo, or be prepared to pick out some grizzle in the pork and beef. A little grizzle doesn't bother me - small price to be reminded that I am eating whole foods instead of some crazy fast food Franken-nugget patty. Used to live in Texas and when I moved up here in 2010, I missed being able to get good tacos. When Las Palmas got the taco stand up I had to try them. This place makes good tacos, I'd put them up against the good places in Houston any day. Not saying they are better, just that they are very good, not just good when compared with other Mexican in PA. Small Mexican joint with some of the most delicious tacos you'll ever taste. If I ever pass through WashPa, I'm guaranteed stopping here. The food is authentic and it's prepared right in front of you on a flat top griddle. Passing by you might not even think twice because you can only tell it's a small taqueria/market but the tacos they serve are very much on point. Felt like I need a tetanus shot just by standing there waiting for my tacos. Super dirty and the so called cook smoked and didn't wash his hands nor did he wear gloves. Was fingering our food up. I stumbled upon this place on day around lunch time and it looked interesting so I went in. It is a real Mexican meat market / grocery store with an outdoor Taco Stand attached to it. I thought I was back in South Texas for a minute! It was perfect. Right down to the picnic tables outside where you could enjoy your fresh, homemade tacos. I had 6 taco and one beef torta (you can tell I am home sick). The chorizo and chicharones were especially good. They also have a salsa bar with several different types of real homemade salsa. Be careful though, some of them are really hot! I will definitely be back, especially when the weather improves. read more
