I regularly shop at this location and have since I moved close by in 2013. Reading a ton of reviews I could see how some people might have been disappointed in the past as they went through some growing pains but as of 2026 this grocery store is very nice. Obviously you have your top tier stores like Wegmans, but for a the normal neighborhood grocery store giant in Mapledale is 5/5. Customer service is great, they have a mixed aged staff where they are willing to help and food selection especially fruit has improved dramatically. If you're going in here regularly, use the app to find discounted items and sign up for the gas rewards to save money at the pump. If you are a reasonable person there is no reason you will be disappointed in this location, I find that 90 % of bad reviews are 1 off situations where there is 99 others that had a good experience and didn't cast their review . I was just at this store and while the shopping experience was generally excellent, there was a particularly loud employee who stood near the self checkout registers. He literally was yelling when he spoke and at one point he was meowing over and over very loudly. It made me not want to go to self-checkout to avoid him. It was very unprofessional and immature. Some of the other employees also seemed an embarrassed by his behavior. He should not be allowed to act in such a manner while working. If he wants to be a cat, he can do it when he's not working. read more

I came in here this evening to pick-,up some dinner for tonight. The easiest thing that I could think of was the pre-prepared ho ey roasted rotisserie chicken that was around $6.00. I got two of them for my husband and I. On top of that I got some of the vegetables that were also prepared, and two bottles of Gatorade. Ive been to several of these grocery stores in my day, and this location seemed to have everything, including a pharmacy. Their beer and wine isle was completely 1 isle, and they have everything! Everything was clean and well-kept. There were not that many people at all at around 5:30pm and I had no wait at all at the self-serve checkout. Great store. Friendly staff. Well stocked. Would love to see the salad bar come back.

Majority of the store has what you need in stock for Dale City's region. But it's quality has diminished since it's purchase of a new owner. However, they do have a large quantity of bulk purchases right there for say the 4th of July or stocking a week of food. I regularly purchase the 16 pack boxes of burgers, hotdogs, and eggs for my breakfast and dinner dieting. Their produce is also maintained fresh a lot. The quality's diminishment I would say is even though it's been revamped to 2010 style, not much has changed in Dale City such as leaving shopping carts where people feel like leaving them. Some are too lazy to bring it back to the corral and stack it neatly for those OCD guys out there. read more

As far as Giants go, this is a good one. The produce and meat departments are bigger than Lake Ridge or Minnieville stores, and the parking is fantastic. The reason I'm even writing this review is because the seafood department WILL FRY YOUR SEAFOOD FOR YOU!!!! Did you even know this existed???? All you have to do is buy your (raw) seafood at the counter and ask them to fry it. Just like having stuff steamed, they'll get to work and it will be ready for you in about 15 minutes if they're not too busy. Plenty of time to pick up salad stuff, cornbread, and whatever else you need to make a stellar fish fry meal at home without the smell of grease lingering in the air! Hooray! read more

Horrific customer service, nobody in customer service and nobody available for the purchase of several gift cards. The employee just put the gift cards back on the rack and said she did not know how to check them out. Excuse me? Today, Wednesday, May 15, 2019, I went into this Giant to get 2 items. As I was leaving a staff member noticed me, slightly screamed, followed me out of the store literally about 1 foot behind me, then she immediately re-entered Giant after I left. Not only is the store very convenient for me, but I have always gotten fantastic service. Obviously the management staff take care of the employees because I have seen very little turnover in the past 6 years. I feed a very large family on a very tight budget and haven't had any problems with sale items or specials. I can't imgaine what more you could look for in a grocery store. read more

Was waiting in line to get my prescription filled, when I witnessed this poor young lady getting harassed by pharmacy management. MANAGEMENT! Normally I would ignore this fact, however you could clearly hear management bad mouthing this young woman for everyone to hear. This is clearly a Hipaa violation and should be looked into immediately. I am appalled and will never be returning to this pharmacy again. It literally took an hour to fill a simple prescription. This place has been going steadily downhill ever since they were bought out by Royal Ahold. They keep replacing name brand products with inferior Giant brand products. They keep dropping items so the point now that for some things such as biscuits I'm forced to go elsewhere. I like the Pillsbury popovers but Giant hasn't carried them for YEARS. To get them I now have to go to Wal-Mart. Their meat is good but trying to get custom cuts like a tri-tip is like pulling teeth. They NEVER have any Idaho potatoes, for those I have to go to Food Lion. And some of their staff don't know the difference between a Russet potato and an Idaho potato. I tell them if it was NOT grown in Idaho then it is not an Idaho potato. You can't find any non-Giant brand sherbet there. Just go in there and try and find ANY pineapple sherbet, any cream of onion soup, any Orangeina two liter bottles of soda, any REAL dried beef in a glass jar, and package of 5 or 6 biscuits, a 5 pound eye of round roast, all their ground beef is not labeled except for the fat content, you don't know if you're getting ground round, ground chuck, ground sirloin, mystery meat. I can't ever find any polish sausage, fresh sausage that is, they have the red hard as a rock stuff. I would not go to the Giant store at all because it has gotten so bad only it is the closest store to me. Oh yes, I liked buying the orange Danish but they no longer carry that apparently. They have the WORST tomatoes, hard as a rock with no taste. I complained once and the produce man, that day, said I was too early in the season for the good tomatoes. Then when I was back two weeks later and the tomatoes were STILL horrible a different produce man said I was too late in the season. That must have been a fast season. I keep hoping that the store will close and some better store will replace it. Stocking has gotten pretty bad. I wanted some chicken noodle soup the other day and hunted and hunted for it. Finally I discovered that it was there, on the bottom shelf, I had to sit on the floor to dig it out. I could go on and on about the store but think you get the idea. Update, I went in today, Sunday September 29, 2013 and they were OUT of Dr. Pepper in 12 can packs and had no Sunbeam bread. They had plenty of Giant brand bread. I told them that they had hit a new low!!! Next update. The majority of their shopping carts pull hard to the left. I'm fighting the cart the whole time I'm in the store. When I complained about the carts they said they are checked about once every two years. And the store stocking only gets worse. The hamburger meat is so tasteless I have to go elsewhere. How much lower will they sink? I finally called their headquarters and a guy listened to my complaints and told me that it should start to get better?! I'll believe it when I see it. I still go there for the pharmacy. I went to Giant today to try and buy some bone-in, skin-on chicken breasts but they had none for the second time in a week. Today is 12/8/15. Then I tried to buy some RC Cola but they said they had canceled the order. This store reminds me of Aldi. You can't just go in Aldi and buy all the stuff you want. You have to go to another store. I am not sure how this Giant is still open! The customer service is appalling, the produce is wilted and the isles are disorganized. This store is a complete mess and everything needs to be fixed. First off, this Giant is the most disorganized grocery store in the whole world. I have been to many different states and countries and can tell you this IS the worst grocery store I have been to. I have had better luck finding an item in a grocery store in another country where all the isles are in another language. Most of the items sold in this Giant are found in the wrong isle and labeled under the wrong category. One time I was able to find waffles under the pasta section in the freezer isle. Whenever I come here I cannot find anything! For example, I was looking for Cheesesteak meat (Steak'ems) and walked down the 3 poorly labeled frozen isles. I could not find them! I then looked for a worker and could not find one! After 10 minutes I was able to find one guy walking out of the back. I asked him where I would find them, but he didn't help one bit (in the beginning). I checked and rechecked until, 20 minutes later, the guy came back out and showed me that they were on the bottom shelf in the frozen vegetables section. There were only two types of Cheesesteak Meat, either Giant's (repulsive) brand or a "no name brand" I definitely would not get if I went somewhere else. I left here in what was supposed to be just a 30 minute stop, but it turned out to be more than an hour! The cashiers showed that they could care less about their jobs and their customers, so I decided to ask for the manager. I told her about the poorly organized isles to which she responded with "THAT'S NOT MY PROBLEM!" and I had to tell here that it is her problem and she is supposed to MANAGE the people who stock and label the isles! I also told her about the poor customer service and she just rolled her eyes and sighed. At this point, this place is A LOST CAUSE and cannot be helped. I recommend that anyone reading this review to avoid this place and go somewhere else. I am patiently waiting for this place to close and reopen as a better (maybe global) grocery store! read more

The customer service is alright, depending on who is working. ( It has generally been the same staff working here for years). Checkout speed is pretty quick and the merchandise selection is good in most departments. The only area that needs improvement is the Meat Department; they tend to run out of sale items very fast and sometimes the selection can be a little less than optimal...Other than that, it's your typical grocery store...not horrible, but nothing extraordinary/spectacular either. read more

We have been going to this Giant for years and continue to go multiple times a week. Their store has a great selection of items and has a great deli. We pass multiple other grocery stores and go further to go here. The store is in great condition and has a great atmosphere. read more

Pharmacy has horrible customer service - big man with mop top, if I had more specific data as the Virginia Board of Pharmacy asked for I could have filed a formal complaint. A personal privacy is just that and the pharmacist is just as bad always on the phone talking. When they answer he calls back with the name and what they are calling for seriously What John Doe is calling Diane for is not everyone in the lines business his script is private mop top. If I could have remembered the name of the medication he said I could have filed the complaint on both of them. If they do it to one they do it to ALL. Store is clean the BAKERY IS AMAZING! Seafood counter great, most of the staff is great but I agree stock is mostly bare shelf, need to get that addressed. I have tried multiple times to address pharmacy issue and I know of many others that have attempted to address it as well to no avail, we just go elsewhere.
