If your looking for some ethnic ingredient that you know they have, Global Food is a decent place to shop, but it is not up to the standards of a Ranch 99 or H-Mart. Meat is questionable for my standards at least, but you must judge for yourself. I came out of my way to check this location out and will not likely come back again. read more

We stopped by Global Food to pick up some items - considering its size and the sheer number of people who were here on the weekend, we thought the selection would be more plentiful. I was looking for a specific wrapper, and they only had two kinds which were brands I didn't particularly cared for. The brands and the selection they carry are to a minimum, and there really isn't any store associates to help locate a particular item. I purchased an Albacore tuna at the Global food market in Manassas on Saturday March 16th, 2024, and the woman who cleaned the fish gave me an albacore tuna that was spoiled. When I went to clean the fish the next day, it was black. Fish meat is not supposed to be black; it means that fish was spoiled yet she sold it to me. I could have gotten food poison if I had eaten it. She would have never eaten it or fed her family that nasty fish she sold me. I know for a fact Global food will never get my business again because that was beyond bad customer service. I paid $44 and change for a fish that she knowingly sold that was not edible. read more

If there were awards shows for supermarkets, this place would win the most Golden Globals. Now we are talking. This is a pretty amazing supermarket full of all kinds of amazing international foods, at mostly decent prices. You can find so many awesome and unpredictable things in here, whether it's Asian, Latin, Arabic, Indian - you name it, it's probably in here in some form or other. They even have a pupusa restaurant hidden in the back with dirt cheap Pupusas and Tamales - Salvadoran staples - totally delicious. We love the Global Food Store on Sudley Road, Manassas, very much. Every Saturday we are shopping there for the whole week. Where else can you get such fresh vegetables to a great price? We wouldn't miss it. And if we do, we are on vactions somewhere else. We recommend it highly. Go and check it out for yourself. read more

My go to grocery store now! Needed some ingredients to make some Thai food and found everything plus some shopping there. Their produce and fish are fresh. I now go there whenever I'm in Manassas. And the employees are very friendly. read more

I compare this place to the Lotto Market in Chantilly. It doesn't quite measure up. It feels kinda run down and not kept up very well. My purpose for the visit was to buy some fresh fish. They had an OK selection so I settled on some Red Snapper. I waited for five minutes til the guy came over to assist me. I found out they can clean the whole fish but they weigh it whole to get the price to charge you and then they remove the head, gut it and scale it. I told they guy I wasn't buying the head so why charge me....he just started at me and said..'do you want it or not'? I let him keep the head and the guts. read more

I love shopping the very reasonably priced produce section. Plus, I have fun looking at the awesome non-food products from different parts of the world -mainly Korean- in the middle section. I've been in the Manassas area all of my life, so I remember when this place as Super Fresh. And, I know some people that have also been around for awhile that out right refuse to shop here. Because they believe it to be 'dirty', but I have never had any issues, though it is an older store and would benefit from renovations. The fruits and vegetables are always fresh and abundant. Disclaimer: I am a vegan, so I'm not sure about the animal pieces/bi products that they offer, but everything else is really, really nice! read more

You have a lot of choices in terms of things you can get from Asian go Hispanic food, that's awesome. The inside however is a little dirty, the vibe inside is a little weird, and they have a fish tank from which you get your fish fresh, but they also kill it in front of you which is really hard to watch. I think this place needs an internal facelift and it could get a better rating. read more

Get the tacos from the little taco restaurant thing in the back left hand corner of the store. GET. THE. TACOS. God they're outstanding. I hated corn tortillas before I tried this place, also hated cilantro.. but once I put my mouth around one of their juicy, authentic Mexican style chicken tacos... it's like a light bulb went off in my head. I don't know how to explain how freaking delicious they are, I really don't. This place gets one star taken away because they don't have bacon (if they do, I missed it). I know they sell Korean pork bellies, but I do NOT like thick cut "bacon" and don't know how to cook pork bellies. So... Lastly, their entry way and produce section is so much easier to get through than their competitor's (mega mart). Too bad the check out aisles barely leave an inch of space on either side of the cart though.. read more

Cannot even get containers from Global Food anymore...Spoke with the manager and seemed like he had an attitude before I could even introduce myself lol and when I did say 'hi my name is ..... what's yours, he asked why?' Great ethnic food market! I think this place is owned by Koreans, but they have food in there for other ethnic groups also. A lot of Latinos shop in there. The produce area is very large, and they have all kinds of things in there from your regular produce to cactus, baby bananas, yuca, and some things I've never seen before. They have an excellent fresh fish area where you can get salmon, perch, tilapia, catfish, red snapper, shrimp, mussels, clams, even octopus. It's all fresh. They have live crabs, live lobster and even live tilapia. Don't go there when you're hungry. You'll want to get everything. They have a variety of frozen foods including every type of Asian food I've ever seen or heard of and even some things I've never seen before. For Latino food they have the frozen burritos that you can get in a Safeway, but they also have tamales and even cuajada. Cuajada is a soft cheese popular in Honduras. I tasted a sample, and it was delicious, almost as good as the cuajada I had in Honduras. Sometimes they have people cooking on hot plates throughout the store, and you can sample some things. The last time I was there they had something that was excellent. We ended up getting the crema that it was served with. In the supermarket they also have a little restaurant type place. It's in the back between the bread section and meat section. There is a very small seating area. One thing they serve that no other place I know serves is "Atol de Elote" which is a drink from Central America with Mayan roots. This is a warm drink made from sweet corn, sugar and cream. It's kind of like a warm, corn-flavored milk shake. Someone bought one of these for me, and it is now officially my favorite soft drink. This is a fantastic supermarket. read more

There are definitely better international food marts within a 20 mile radius. This is cool for a quick stop for a semi-specialty item when shopping in Manassas, but the selection isn't great. It's very dingy and at times dirty looking. I always see a stray bucket or puddle on the sticky floor. One of the big draws for international marts are fresh meats, fish and produce. The meat selection here is downright scary at times. Much of the meat is frozen and the produce is average. I think their major draw is location convenience factor but I'd travel a bit farther for better quality. read more

Do you like to cook with fresh produce? How about fresh seafood? This is the place to shop, if so. I shop here regularly. The produce selection is fantastic. The quality is always good, and best of all, much cheaper than Giant, Safeway and even Shoppers. If you are looking for the most bizarre product, you will find it here. They have aisles dedicated to Asian cuisine or Latin cuisine. There Seafood department is huge. Great selection of fresh fish. You can buy them live or not. Shrimp, crab legs, octopus, it's all there. The meat department selection is not exceptional, however, they do offer some harder to find items as well. Unless you are afraid to mingle with Asian or Latino folks, I recommend checking out this grocery store. Well worth it. read more

This h mart location is pretty nice! It's close to my house and has all of my Asian food I need. One time my boyfriend bought broken rice, and the cashier asked if he was going to make soup. He said no, and the cashier said usually broke rice is for soup and he should get regular rice. That was really nice of the cashier! We exchanged the broke rice to regular white rice and thanked the cashier for helping us. The produce sometimes here isn't the greatest, so be careful. So....I go to this store because their produce is fresh and I love Vietnamese coffee, but it's difficult to navigate because the staff either doesn't speak English, they don't know the products or they don't know where anything is located. There is a smell that is a mixture of fish and spices, but this isn't unusual for international markets-at least IMO. It doesn't deter me from shopping here from time to time. read more

We go for the produce -- the vegetables, fruit. melons, etc. The quality is fine, and the prices much lower than regular supermarkets or club stores. We make a point of going probably once a week to pick up these things here. The only "foreign" foods we buy are some cookies and crackers that remind my wife of what's available in Russia, and they are priced well. Since we don't usually prepare things from Middle East, Asia, or South America, we can't comment on 80% of what the store offers. Nothing you'd regularly find in a Giant or Food Lion is priced well here; like Nestle's Quick or canned beans or Corn Flakes -- they all cost at least as much and aren't a value here. read more

We used to go here for fresh produce and meats for our dogs (they are on the BARF diet--Biologically Appropriate Raw Foods). So chicken necks, beef hearts, etc. But since Super Q opened, we go there now. The problem with Global is that there is a strong oder throughout the store, particularly in the fish department. I was looking for certain Spanish spices so i went to this local store and found it many kinds. I guess if your looking for out of the ordinary kinds of food you would go here. While I was in an aisle there was a customer asking a worker questions on where to find an item the worker just shrugged her shoulders and given her no direction. I was pretty upset with that. If she couldn't speak English she could kindly smile and find someone to help the customer. I feel management should take this matter more seriously. read more

I am a fan of this place. It has pretty much near unbeatable prices as far as produce and fruits go. Like other have said, it does have a bit of a smell to it, but it isn't really anything you're not used to if you go to "ethnic" supermarkets. I think its great for what it is. The employees are kind & helpful. Produce for the most part is cheaper & better than their competitions. Now today, it is 15 degree high winds. Freezing! Can you believe it is normal for this place to NOT HAVE HEAT?! ALL the employees looked cold & had jackets on. I couldn't find a manager to discus my concerns. I feel horrible for the employees. My favorite international market -- I go every time I'm in the DC area. Produce section is fabulous -- unique items at great prices (mostly... you still have to be a smart shopper). I always seem to find a fruit or vegetable I'd never seen or heard of before, so of course I buy one to try it out. Large fish and meat section, with unusual items as well. Prepared fresh kimchi and other pickled items, such as duck eggs, and dried snack fish. Aisles and aisles of well marked ethnic items (Asian, Indian, Thai, Turkish, Latino, etc.). An entire aisle of spices at the best prices you'll find anywhere. My favorite Turkish Delights for $4.99 a box (yay); every type of bottled sauces, canned goods, dried beans, candies, cookies, beverages.... the variety is astounding. I could easily spend 2 hours browsing here. A small dine-in Latino restaurant is in the back of the store, with tables and chairs. Refrigerated section has great cheeses, butters, and sour creams (where I discovered Mexican crema is leaps and bounds better than Breakstone... LOL). Highly recommend. read more

A good bunch of materials are a great price for the area. I'm not sure how I feel about the fresh meats, I have avoided them entirely, I don't know that I feel like they are of quality. However, their produce is ON POINT. I loveeeeeeeeeeeee the produce section, it's cheap, ripe and clean. I went in to purchase Mole paste. I had shopped in the store before for Asian ingredients. This time Mole was my goal. I found some grapes and apricots and decided to purchase those as well. I checked out, paid cash and left. It was a relief to leave as the store smelled rank and there was rap blaring throughout. When I came home I found that the mole was missing. I called the store and asked them about picking up the item the next day. They essentially called me a liar and said that the cashier didn't have the item and they had to check the tape as no mole had been purchased. I am livid! I'm so impressed by how much of the world they can fit into one supermarket. Forget the pathetic "Ethnic Food" section of your local Giant or Safeway, Global Food is the real deal. HUGE selections of food from different countries, and even better, they don't seem to play favorites. There's plenty of everything. read more

The food sold is as diverse as its customer base. They have sections dedicated to particular countries. In the India section, you will find the Halwa, Kulfi and Chewda(Indian fried snack). The also have the standards of most ethnic grocery stores. You walk in and you're immediately in the vegetable section. Once you fill up your cart and move along, you come to the seafood section. They have tons of fish displayed out and a couple tanks with doomed tilapia and lobsters. You can't forget the blue crab basket filled to the brim with fighting crabs. After that you come to the meat section. You'll come to realize that people will eat anything. You'll read signs saying Ox tail, Beef heart, Beef Kidney, Pork feet and the list goes on. Once you get past that they'll have a cafe on the right that serves the typical Latino dishes. Once past that you'll see cooking pots and pans for sale. Then you finally make it to the frozen food section. There are snacks, sweets and frozen meals here from all over the world. Then as you finally near the registers you come across the beer both domestic and imported. The store is a pretty cool experience. Beware though when you walk in it has a certain smell to it. It's prices are also more expensive compared to that of H-mart. read more

Love their produce section. The rest of the store could be better organized. I waste far too much time looking for specific ingredients. I also wish the people that work there and pretend to know where items are actually knew what they had and where it was located. I've followed workers around 10 minutes as they look for items, after I've already done the same thing. Frustrating. I find myself driving further to shop at a more organized store. It's like Harris Teeter, Wal-Mart, and Bed, Bath, & Beyond all rolled into one! I hadn't been to this place in a couple years and finally checked it out again this week. I don't know why I ever stopped going. The prices are more than fair, the produce (as many have already mentioned) looks outstanding, ingredients that you'd likely have to drive to Centreville or Fairfax to find otherwise, and they have a wide selection of cookware that are also priced very decently. Love this International food grocer. Especially since it's located smack dab in the middle of Ashburn. It's a hidden gem, never crowded, and I can usually find what I need for a Korean or Hispanic dish. They have a large selection of food items from China, Japan, India, Vietnam, Korean, and a variety of Latin American staples. I've been shopping here for years and its great. Grew up in Hawaii and I'm able to find many hard to find items here......they have a great selection of spices, sauces, and mixes.......and a wonderfull selection of produce with awesome prices............my only issue is that for some reason, they have all these metal poles to (seemingly) prevent the shopping carts from making it to the actual parking lot..........i just take the scenic route, but its a bit of a pain in the arse......great place to shop overall!! read more
