Brought in my 23 year old Trek 8500 for some refreshing. The staff here was great! They kept in touch, gave me several options as we went along and made this bike as good as new. The coffee is so good here too!

    Great selection of bikes

Dad: I am looking to buy a bike at Target for $300. Me: Ok, let's go to a bike store first to compare. Dad: I don't know. I am not looking to spend a lot. I don't want to have to sell one of my children to get a decent bike. Me: HA HA HA! Not all of the bikes are super expensive. Besides, the quality of the bikes are much better and it will last you forever. I have a very munched used trek mountain bike that is over 20 years !! We head over to Village Peddler. I look around and I pick out a bike that I thought my dad might like. My dad gave a once look over. It was a nice looking bike. The owner allowed my Dad to test ride it in the parking lot. After an hour of talking to the owner, who was extremely helpful with explaining some of the extra features of the bike that would make the bike ride a more comfortable and fun experience. The bike had airless tires!! You never have to fill them up with air! Super convenient. Me helping the owner sell my dad : it comes with a bell. Owner: That is not a bell. That is an accident prevention system. .....It sounds better when you say it that way. A bell cost $2 dollars but an accident prevention system is worth at least $20. Wink wink. You don't have to sell on of your children for this feature. We laugh. We go to target and find the bike he was looking to purchase and said " I like the other bike better". We head back to Bike shop All in all, the bike cost $450 for a bigger, sleeker and lighter bike with extra features such as comfort seat and handles, airless tires and don't forget the accident prevention system!! Plus the owner threw in a free water bottle holder and water bottle. Great experience!! Went for a bike ride....My Dad is a happy customer!!

LIV bike. New handles for flair and comfort

Great place and great service. Took my bike in for a few minor issues. They took care of me right…read moreaway, didn't charge me for little things they did and answered all of my questions about my next bike (future purchase). Will definitely make this my go-to bike shop! Shout out to Jared for taking good care of me and knowing his stuff!

I've had a hard time trying to frame this. I'll try this…read more I had to listen to a performative dood talk emanating from the floor worker to a customer about chain lubricant that went on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on an on an on an on and on. And on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on and on and on and on and on an on and on and on and on and on. It was a long time. I waited. And I waited some more. I did some serious waiting five feet away in a red sweater. No acknowledgment. No letting me know it might be a while. But that would've likely stopped the upselling I started to see. So I turned me and my bike around and left. It's hard for me to be on my feet that long. That's why I bike. Dood has a right to be into his subject matter. Usually shops want you to feel comfortable and respected as somewhat of a priority, even if you aren't being directly pitched at the moment... it just was not a good vibe. All doods working there when I was in. Way heavy on the dood vibe. Captive audience syndrome. Sigh. Dood has to do what a dood does. I avoid places like this. Going to the bike collective in Rogers Park instead next time.
