The owner of the company is extremely unprofessional and rude. If you want to be ripped off then you can go with this company. Actually had to involve the police because he was requesting payment before the job was done unfortunately that's not how things work. The deposit was paid, and we would pay the remainder after the movers finished. To no fault of their own, the owner told the movers to closed to truck door and drive off with our stuff at which point the sheriffs department was called. The deputy demanded they unpack our stuff because at this point it was considered stealing our property. The owner was rude and yelling at the officer through the phone and then continued to harass my family over the phone calling us more than TWENTY times. Come to find out from the officer, this company DOESN'T HAVE A BUSINESS LICENSE. We have since opened a claimed with the Better Business Bureau and reported fraud on our accounts. This company was so aweful. Ontario branch. Charged me $599 for 3 hours. Show up in a 15 foot truck. 5 feet of that truck was an overhang. My couch didn't even fit in the truck. When I called the company Caylen was the most unprofessional and one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. Would not return my $300 deposit, would not get a bigger truck, refused to let me speak with anyone above him, yelled at me. Was extremely immature. I was literally in tears over the way he spoke to me. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. And disputing the charge with my bank. My parents and family and his movers heard the whole call over speaker and could not believe how he was speaking to me. There are no words. We needed having to pay 2 other workers and renting a 26ft truck to fit everything. read more

Probably the worst movers you could possibly get. They arrived three hours late there were three of them to move a house with 3400 ft.² when they arrived they asked if they could eat their burritos before starting after they were three hours late. They were slow after four hours the entire downstairs hadn't even been packed. They finished the job at 8:30 PM they did not put one piece of furniture together at the new house and did not get everything moved from our old house. It took my husband and myself another three days to move the things from our old house to our new house. Then we discovered they put two holes in our walls moving items out did not tell us they also chipped a piece of wood out of the floor which ended up costing us $600 to fix. Garrett saved my sanity today! I called him around noon needing last minute (I mean Day Of) help with my family's move. He came out with Anthony within an hour and moved everything we had before my the land lady came to do check out. What's more, we had agreed on a flat fee for a fixed time, which usually makes movers slower than snails, but not Garrett. He always asked if he could do more or what else we needed and he even suggested moving some things I would have missed. He worked to get the whole job done. Both guys had a great attitude, and were super friendly, even though I kept calling them by the wrong names. (Uhh Jared? Andretti?) Garrett also recommended a house cleaner who came out and did a full vacancy cleaning the same day and undercut every other estimate I had gotten. There's no way to express my gratitude for evything they did today. I can't recommend them highly enough! read more

It was a flawless experience - super friendly, fast, and efficient. I actually booked with them based on the good reviews here on Yelp. I had to move an upstairs one bedroom apartment into an upstairs storage unit. GM sent over 2 movers (both extremely experienced and professional). The the entire contents of my place were packed and secured neatly in the truck in 34 minutes. Ridiculously fast. It takes me longer than that to get a half dozen boxes in my car. Granted, all of my things were packed in storage boxes and the bed frame was dismantled, but their efficiency was a pleasant surprise (since you're paying by the hour). The storage unit was just large enough to fit my things and they did a phenomenal job playing "Tetris" to get it all in. From start to finish, it took about an hour and half. Still in awe of how fast they were. Their pricing is very reasonable and I think you get more than you pay for. I would undoubtedly use them again for any other moves I have in the future. read more

These guys are great! Needed a couple of guys for a last minute move - lots of boxes and miscellaneous stuff - and checked craiglist, they sounded okay, so I e-mailed. Quick response, accurate quote, they checked in by phone before they arrived, and they showed up on time. They were careful with my stuff, seemed to pack it well in the truck, and put it all where I asked them to. In the complicated moving world, sometimes it's hard to come up with "a couple of guys with a truck" to move the stuff without a lot of complications. And I think they are quite capable of handling larger moves as well. Mine was the tail end of a much larger move handled by a "big" moving company - we had moved from one house in Carmel Valley, put stuff in storage, and had a furnished vacation rental we had to move out of and into the new house in Encinitas Ranch. GM Movers helped us with the move from the rental, which ended up being a surprising amount of stuff that either the other movers didn't want to store (family photos, documents, that kind of thing that we wouldn't have access to when in storage) or that we needed for the 2 months in the rental (important business and personal files and clothes!). I cannot even rate this company, but it forces me to give something! It deserves no rate! I'm going to make it very simple. I was a returning customer and I had a move of a 1 bedroom loft 784 sq feet completely packed and ready to go with no appliances. It literally took 12 hours for the movers to move me. My 2 year old grand daughter and I could have moved me at a faster pace. The owner is a condescending idiot with no customer service skills. He is argumentative, rude and obnoxious. I had to involve the Sheriffs Department because Caylen thought I wasn't going to pay him because I was questioning the time it was taking. Caylen instructed his team to not deliver my belongings because he ran the credit card on file for the payment, which was not the card I was going to use for payment, so he assumed I wasn't going to pay him. My God! I could go on and on, but here are the facts Caylen - the time it took to move me was unacceptable. Your unprofessionalism and lack of customer service skills are disgusting. First of all, these guys made moving just about as easy and smooth of an experience as it gets. I had a full one-bedroom apartment full of furniture, large TV, and a ton of other belongings, and I needed the stuff to all be moved to a storage unit almost 600 miles north to Davis. Garrett and Anthony came to my place a couple weeks before the move and assessed the situation, and they gave me a fantastic price that I didn't really think would be possible considering the magnitude of the move. Anyway, they stayed very nicely in contact with me regarding details of the move as the big day approached, and they even showed up the night before to load some things into the truck when they found out it was going to rain the next morning. On moving day, they showed up again on time and wrapped and packed everything very quickly and professionally. On top of that, they contacted me throughout the day during the journey to northern California to let me know how things were going, since I was driving my own vehicle separately up there. The next morning, they had 7 GUYS prepared to load all of my stuff into the storage unit. It was again very quick and professional, and they did a great job with all of my stuff. Nothing was damaged, and everything arrived in great shape. I would definitely choose GM movers over any other moving company. They will give you a good price, and they will not swindle you with any extra fees, taxes, etc. The price they give you is the price you get. I was very disappointed with this company. I called and made reservations for a move 3 days in advance. They gave me a window to begin at 8am to 10 am. And insisted I put a deposit down. I called the night before to verify and they said they may be a little later than expected. The morning of they called and said they would not be able to make it until 7 PM to do the move. That is way more than a little late. I was very fustrated and let them know it. with no cuss words. All they could say is we are sorry and we can give you back you deposit. How can a company screw you over at the last minute and only say im sorry. I was in quite a bind. And because I was fustrated and let them know it. they texted me back and said they can not do busy with me because I was abusive. They put me in a bind. These guys were fantastic! I had to pack up and move my elderly mother in whirlwind time. I did most of the packing on Thursday. They showed up mid-day Friday, per our scheduling, and not only were they fast, friendly and efficient, but they even helped safely pack-up lamps, pictures, and other fragile items. We did an out-of-state move, so they weren't the crew on the unloading side in Arizona, but I'm happy to report that once unloaded, we didn't have any breaks or casualties of personal items. GM movers helped me load my 14 foot uhaul in preparation for my move from Encinitas to Los Angeles. They were on time and fast. I noticed that the two guys communicated with each other very well regarding how they would get the items down the stairs, and how to arrange the items in the truck. Garret made sure I was prepared by calling me in the morning to make sure I had all my materials. My boyfriend did make the comment that he wouldn't have loaded the truck quite the way the guys did. While they secured everything that was heavy with tie-downs, there were a couple awkwardly loose items. But everything made it to L.A. without a hitch, and I am very satisfied. I would give 0 stars if I could. The move experience was unpleasant from the moment one of the movers was caught inside my grandmas purse. He was inside the closet, door shut, purse and wallet open kneeled down. My grandma physically caught him in the act and he said he was just making sure nothing was left in the room. She checked and made sure nothing was actually missing, and I assume we caught him right when he got to her purse. We had our things moved once, into storage, and we suspected some things were stolen. Upon moving into our house we realized that there were things stolen, that the whole group had to be in on this. A whole storage container of my great grandmothers Mickey Mouse watches stolen, and my moms entire jewelry box filled with CHEAP costume jewelry. You hire a company and pay them to move your things and they disrespect your home and steal from you? Not to mention most of our furniture was left with scratches as well. Take note that any good reviews on this company, (Giant Monkey Movers), are YEARS old. I needed movers and packers quickly and they were the first available, (clarified: not the best). The movers were nice and did a decent job, but the sales associate Caylen, is snarky, unprofessional, and ill-equipped for his job as a customer service sales person. I stated my need for my home to be packed up and moved. I clarified that I had 2 bathrooms and a kitchen filled with basic kitchen stuff. If I call a moving company and clarify that I need the house to be packed up and the sales associate restates the obvious 'you want us to put stuff in boxes', I assume they will come with the TOOLS NECESSARY to pack and move my belongings. It's a SALES PERSON'S JOB as the MOVING EXPERT to upsell boxes, paper, tape, etc. and clarify that these IMPORTANT ITEMS are not included with his "packing/moving" quote. He made NO MENTION of this whatsoever. 'Do you need any supplies?' 'Do you have your own boxes?' 'Do you want wardrobe boxes?' Nope, no questions asked; no clarification at all. NOTHING. So, I paid over $800 to have three guys move some beds and couches. What a waste. Thanks for nothing. Epic fail, Caylen. The worst sales associate ever. BTW: clarify: to make clear, to explain; to free from confusion. Don't ever overuse a word you don't fully understand. PS. First, as a professional, I called to inquire where the disconnect occurred. Of course, this kid, with no customer service skills whatsoever, quickly escalated the conversation by immediately accepting no blame and asking me if I ran a moving company. Then, he proceeded to tell me that he hears it all the time how people think they know better. Seems like a pattern with this kid. Avoid this company at all costs. PPS. Caylen's clarification failure was obviously noticed immediately on moving day, but the onsite guys were unable to offer any solution, had no access to ANY boxes, and made no attempts to resolve the issue, or even call a manager who might be able to help. read more

I had a horrible experience with GM Movers. i would give them a negative star if I could! First of all, one of the movers was on the phone for 20 minutes and was only picking up light stuff with one hand. Then knowing the clients are charged by hours, they really take their sweet time! Also, watch out, they will try to trick you and double charge you for fuel. The deal they gave me on the phone includes a flat charge for fuel. I specially asked whether there woule be a "double drive time" charged for the traveling cost, they said no, yet they came with empty tank and during the move they told me they will have to go put gas in, and because this is during my moving process I will have to pay for that time as well. Also, on the phone, they agreed to charge me $80/hour, but when they showed up, the first thing they did was to have me sign a contract that listed $85/hour. When I asked about the price discrepancy, they tried to deny the discount they agreed on! They were horrible, do NOT use them!!! read more

He then closed to book it and I told him he was the most expensive by 20%. His comment was you have to pay for quality. I am a Military wife and was left alone to do a very simple move into a storage facility so I hired "GM Movers" (aka Giant Monkey Movers). I was in a hurry and was worried about getting taken advantage of because this was my first rodeo with moving, so I yelped these guys and they seemed okay and had the most reviews. They also offered me multiple discounts for being military and for sighting them on this site. On the phone, they seemed great and quoted me half the price of what "the other guys" were. So here comes moving day... I wait an hour and a half and these guys are just now showing up on the job. I had made a clear email contract with the manager stating that they would be bringing packing materials and packing my belongings. When they showed up, they had NOTHING with them and "NO idea" that they were to be packing for me! So, after a showdown with the boss via cell phone, they finally went and picked up packing materials- setting us back yet another hour or so. They packed my stuff, things seemed to be going nicely then they threw out the curve ball of not being able to move my TV because I didn't have the original box, thanks for the heads up on that one! After an even larger hullabaloo with them leaving their truck full of my stuff outside of the storage facility over night so they didn't have to work in the late night, they give me the "final quote" and it was about $200.00 higher than it was originally. I was exhausted, confused, and didn't know how to argue with them, so I paid it. They took advantage of me just like I was worried about. The next day when they were to show up to unload the truck, it was raining so they took their sweet time getting there- I was on a tight schedule- they started unloading into my facility and I saw that none of the boxes were labeled, when I asked about it, they told me I had to ask for them to label the boxes. Wow. I had no time to go back to my apt. to see if they actually did their job, I had to hop on a train to LA. Later that night I got a call from my landlord telling me that they left my entire bathroom completely intact, decor and all! Not only did I lose all of that bathroom stuff from the apt. (I was in another state the next day), but my landlord charged me for leaving stuff there! I would recommend this company only to someone I hate. read more

Shawn and his crew did a tremendous job on a small business move. They arrived on time and started right in on packing and organizing our belongings. They moved through the packing quickly but were very careful. We felt a lot of stress but they were upbeat, friendly and optimistic about finishing the job on time. I called them in the morning to move an extremely heavy sofa sleeper and massage chair from an upstairs bedroom to another room downstairs. By 1 p.m. all my furniture was moved including some extra furniture. They were conscientious and very helpful (they cleared all my pictures off the wall and helped me empty my bookshelf). They were so courteous and most importantly, efficient and inexpensive. As a matter of fact, I called 5 other companies, and these guys gave me the lowest quote. Very happy with their service! This past August, Caylen Grasser (the so called president) of Giant Monkey Movers promised me four men at a specific rate per hour. The four men came and loaded up the truck. One of them hardly worked. The person in charge took off for 45 minutes to get drinks while two of the other three didn't do much in his absence. Second, they loaded up the track, but about two thirds of the way, they decided to shove things without much thought. The last third of the trailer was very slanted. When I asked the person in charge about this, he said that he has moved people for years and I shouldn't worry. Well, when I received my stuff, not only that some furniture was scratched and broken, several hardware was either found on the floor of the trailer or completely missing. I paid a company to unload and assemble, but they couldn't assemble it all. So I had to hire a different company to assemble some beds and manage with pieces of clothes hangers. I contacted Caylen Grasser several times by phone. He never returned my phone calls although he was quick at picking up the phone before the move in August. I contacted him by e-mail as well and he declined to compensate me for the damage and lack of work. I would not hire this company even if they move me for free, and I hope that you find someone else who is dependable, honest and not greedy. read more
