I chose Move Square after reviewing the Yelp companies. Allan responded fast and that was a plus. This is my third move in 2 years. I lost my son and sold my place to downsize I previously used Two Men and a Truck twice. They broke a lot of my things. A different review. I told Allen about my poor experience and hope that his guys would help better. Well here comes move day.... The guys are scrawny, non English speaking men. One guy with limited English. They repeatedly ignored the fact that I told them not to take down a couple of TVs as it belonged to the landlord, yet they still took them down. They left boxes out and never loaded them until I told them. Then the kicker is that they stole an Apple TV Box I had and I never knew until weeks later. I have them a huge tip and little did I know the nightmare was just beginning. They placed my bed lopsided with the mattress frame kilted over and now it's broken after I see my mattress caving in the middle. I reached out to Allen to simply send his guys to fix the mattress frame and he said it will take a couple of days to send someone. Today's the day it's supposed to happen and he says his truck broke down. I said I don't need a truck just two men to fix it and he refused to acknowledge that he says "go ahead and post a bad review on Yelp, I don't care". I am appalled and disgusted at Move Square. They have horrible communication and customer service with Allen, the owner. Do not use them, you will have better experiment e with anyone else. I promise you. read more

Hard pass. I would not used them again. The two guys were nice enough. Unfortunately there was a language barrier. I had to use my google translate if I talked to them. They were polite. Just slow. I worked just as hard as they did. When they had almost everything down by the truck they decided to tell me they may not have enough room in the truck for everything. I was not happy. Yes they were able to fit everything and there was room for more. Surprise, they did not take everything. I had to go back over the next day to get the rest. FYI they do not like lamps or computers We were told by office several times that it would take around an hour and a half to take everything from our apartment to pack the truck. Then the allotted time to drive to the new home. Then around an hour and a half to unload the truck. Our apartment was 670 square feet. Arrival time was supposed to be 9am. They were just under two hours late. Gave some lame excuse. We did not get to our new home (10 minutes away) until way after dark. It took another hour and a half to unload the truck. Needless to say we were angry at all the extra time we had to pay for. It was around 8:45pm before they were done. read more

We saw all of the good reviews in Yelp, so chose Square moving to move us to a new house in Carlsbad that was just 10 miles from the old house. We have a lot of furniture and were moving from a 2-story house. It was a big move, and we needed help packing. We asked for (and got written confirmation of) a crew of 4 men prepared to pack and load. We got 3 men who hadn't been told that they were supposed to do any packing, and who therefore had no packing materials. They arrived about an hour after the estimated time. Since they had no packing materials, they saved the packing until the end, by which time they were tired and hungry. They used all of our remaining supply of boxes and tape. They pulled Amazon boxes out of our recycling and taped them back together again. They had a few giant bins (about the size of a refrigerator lying on its side) in their truck and they piled things that seemed to be non-breakable into those bins. By the end, there were no more cardboard boxes, so they packed into wastebaskets and laundry hampers. We had carefully packed almost all of our critical or valuable items, and labeled each with the room it was to go in. We taped signs on each room in the new house, naming it; the names on the rooms matched the labels on the boxes. The really important stuff we loaded into our cars and carried it ourselves. The liquor and wine is still sitting at the old house; I guess they weren't allowed to move it for some reason. The undersized crew did a mostly good job of dealing with a move that was too big for them. They were clever about it, and kept up a good attitude. However, a large number of boxes (perhaps 40 or 50) ended up in the wrong places. Our theory is that one of the men couldn't read English; he was from a former Soviet country. We had told him "put all of the green boxes in this room". He must have understood "put all of the boxes in this room," because at the end there were so many not-green boxes in that room you couldn't even see the green ones. They finally got their truck empty and went home about 11pm. We will recover from this and a year from now it will be a story to tell. We have a dolly that I can use to move the dressers into the right places. It is now 4 days after the move and we have found many of the things we need, but not all of them. My wife has not yet found her favorite pillow. It will be in one of those boxes. The crew was mostly great (give or take the box-to-the-wrong-room issue). The crew leader, Carlos, was great. I blame their management for bungling this so badly. The crew did a better job than I would have predicted under the circumstances, and they kept up smiles and good attitudes until they drove off a bit before midnight. read more

Terrible experience. Late. Sent movers that spoke Russian only. Took double the time quoted. Shrink wrapped every little piece of item and carried one box at a time on the dolly. Scrapped the driveway with the truck as they struggled to park on a normal driveway. No response to my feedback from the manager. They were 2.5 hours late. No call. It appears they forgot about my reservation. They sent two workers that don't speak English. They speak a dialect of Russian. I would never have hired them if I knew this. They didn't understand even "bedroom" or "kitchen" and it was impossible to communicate with them. I had to keep telling them to move things and show them by pointing where to put everything creating a ton of work for me and adding a ton of time to the move. They couldn't read the labels on any items so they placed most things in the garage for me to later move. Took double the time quoted- 7 hours for a two bedroom move plus driving time. If that isn't bad enough, one of the movers was flirting with me (bowing and saying so something that i eventually understood "beautiful" he kept bumping into me. He didn't understand the word bedroom, but he understood and could ask me if I was single. He asked for my phone. I thought he was looking at Google translator and he texted his number. Lastly, they charged an hour of labor for their drive time as well as doubling that with commute time so essentially I paid $300 for one hour where they were driving. read more

I just spent the night sleeping on my floor and will now have to sleep on the floor indefinitely because these movers completely ruined our king mattress. It looks like an elephant stomped all over it. Trying to sleep in one of the four huge depressions they left was so painful I was crying at 1 am until I gave up and moved to the floor. I'm devastated! We just moved and I can't afford to replace this mattress! Look at the video. Could you sleep on this thing? I had a perfectly fine bed 2 nights ago. Now what am I supposed to do?? UPDATE: Alan returned my call only to tell me this morning he told his men this morning (after I contacted him) who moved us that they should not have moved the mattress at all because "this has a 100% chance of happing". Then he proceeded to tell me that unless the van drove over our mattress, it's not his fault or responsibility. All he said he cared about was that it was wrapped in plastic. WHAT?! The movers loaded our mattress as one of the very first items, then proceeded to fill the truck with an entire home's full of furniture which likely crushed the mattress. It sat on the truck for 5-6 hours, they drove it to our home and by the time they unloaded the item it's broken in four areas. His only offer to make things right? One hour $120 reimbursed. For a $3k mattress. DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS. On top of all this, I had to clean up the movers pee on my bathroom floor after he urinated all over the floor. These men are not professionals, they don't care at all about their customers, and they will completely disrespect your home and property. SECOND UPDATE: The mover just called me to tell me you (Alan) fired him. If this issue is not your fault, why did you fire your employee and why are they harassing me over the phone if they are true "professionals"? Your mover also said it's my husband's fault for not realizing the bed was broken before they left. Is this a joke?? Who are you people? DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS. read more
